Fat People

Mr. Marowak

was wrong about Gen6
In general, fat people have faster metabolisms than skinny people. The body is larger, so the body needs more food than a skinny person and it needs to break it down faster to power the body. People just assume fat people have slower metabolisms because of predispositions to associate fat with being lethargic, slothful, and lazy. Thank you for bringing the inaccurate bias into your own thread attempting to defend fat people.

I actually DO have an abnormally slow metabolism. What does that say about me?

That you need to exercise regularly to increase your resting metabolism...do they not teach this in High School any more?

All fat people are fat because their lazy, even those people with "conditions" personally I could care less as long as you pay for it yourself and don't get so fat the government has to use my tax money to cart your fat *** to a hospital to look after you with my money.

I wouldn't say that they are all lazy. I was fat in Junior High and I was very active. I lived in Brooklyn for Godssake! I did aerobics every weekday in gym. I played Tennis after school and on weekends. And I barely ate. However, my Doctor saw through people's cruelness and told me that I needed and operations on my gland because it might turn cancerous. After that, I dropped 30 pounds in one month and got back to my normal weight. So you see there are alot of things that can make us fat. That includes people who know very little about the person.

My best friend for many years was overweight, but that didn't affect or define our friendship. Physical appearance never meant anything. We simply didn't talk about or even acknowledge it, though I never told her I was concerned for her health, either. I really hope she's okay these days.

I do not find it acceptable to use someone's weight as an insult against them in an argument/debate. Frankly, whatever your intention, it makes you sounds stupid. Let's find more ways to sound like 6-year-olds throwing a temper tantrum!

That said, if we improved our eating and exercize habits, the percentage of overweight people could drop significantly, and less tax dollars would have to go into fixing that.

And with that said, it doesn't help that food companies benefit by selling you products that lead to health problems while magazines, beauty and drug companies benefit by making you feel bad about the way you look so they can sell you products that will make you lose that weight. Derp.

I have one hell of a slow metabolism. I have to work 5 time harder to get the body shape I wanted. I am jealous of people who doesn't need to work out as much since they got fast metabolism. BLAH!

Being someone who takes physical fitness quite seriously I would be lying if I said fat people (although I don't like using the term "fat" when describing another person; preferably overweight) didn't bother me. But that being said, when I see someone who is noticably overweight working out or working in some fashion to lose the weight, I'm a huge supporter. Overweight people eating unhealthy foods, however, such as fast food, is discusting, to be honest. Although one's genetics can be a factor in his or her weight, it doesn't determine his or her willingness or willpower to handle the problem properly. The reality shows on TV that focus on someone who weighs over 400 pounds are horrible.

Being fat is often something that can be changed, but sometimes they honestly can't help it. At times nature has a body type that you will fit into until it allows for things to change. Many of my friends were chubby as kids, but now they're either muscular or super-skinny. Bashing someone for being fat is terrible. Usually when someone is overweight, it comes with numerous psychological disorders that help make it worse, such as low-self esteem, bipolar disorder, and anorexia, just to name a few. You shouldn't talk about anyone if you don't know their story.

It call discipline. If they can't help it, they need to discipline themselves and not going after the fatty cakes. Having a low self esteem and destroying your own body by eating craps just to have the illusion of being happy will not help. What they need is a motivator that can push them along and get the body type they need that make them look even better than the guys and girls in Hollywood movie.

Before criticizing the discipline of others, maybe you should work on your grammar.

It's not always an issue of constantly going after unhealthy food, so stop generalizing. Some people can eat well and still struggle to lose weight.

Self-esteem is another thing you can't generalize about. It affects everyone differently.

Motivators will not help everyone. Not everyone works like that. Stop generalizing.

Not everyone wants to even be associated with Hollywood actors. Again, stop generalizing; it makes you look ignorant.

Yes my grammar sucks, doesn't change the fact that people are fat. Also, who doesn't wanna look even better than a movie star? I know I wanna look better than a Hollywood Actor.

So unless someone got a medical condition with the size of a basketball tumor in their stomach, I will give no mercy nor leeway. Don't matter if they are depress or not. They gonna need a motivator to get themselves out of that horrible body shape.

You wanna see ignorant, go outside and check out all the fat people who are over 22% body fat that doesn't eat right, and don't work out their body. It straight out disgusting.

Also, if they can't run, they can do mountain climber, ranger crunches, side shuttle hop, all form of exercise to get in shape. They can replace soda with water and drink nothing but water. So there no exuses on not getting in shape.

Like I say I'm 6'2" 300lbs that is Obese to morbidly obese. Yet I have a fairly athletic (pro wrestler/linebacker) build. I eat no beef, Whole grain bread, veggies, diet pop and lots of water. I don't wanna be my Doctor enforced "ideal weight" I'd look anorexic. I did the "discipline" thing for a long time... I like enjoying life/food/the works. Not everyone wants to go for 12 mile walks, do 2 hours of cardio, and count calories so the person in the grocery isle won't judge them for being 15 lbs over weight.

You don't need to count calories, etc. to not be fat.

Oh? I beg to differ. Even if you eat healthy food, if you eat 4500 calories a day yer gonna get/be/stay fat. Unless you exercise for 6-8 hours a day. A moderate caloric intake is required to maintain a healthy weight with normal activity.

I don't know how much 4500 calories is.
You don't need to count the calories to each approximately the correct amount, no one have told me that they do that and most people that I have talked to aren't fat.

Then most people you have talked to have been eating 2000 calories or less or have very active lives. Because to sustain a "healthy weight" adults need tween 1500-2000 calories a day.

4500 calories is more than double the average recommended intake. (Which is like 2000). Unless you're carbo loading for training, you will get fat very fast eating that much daily. Even though my diet is sh*t, I don't come close to consuming that much. I'm pretty lean despite my diet because I frequently exercise. Even if the bus is right in front of me, I walk the 3km to the station.(Just an example.)
