Yeah, ok!
Charizard being here will make this poll a bit biased, don't ya think?

Not counting him, Swellow easily. It's a shame about Pidgeot, he could have been every bit as strong and as much as a powerhouse as Swellow is, but the writers didn't know what to do with it and released it like idiots.

Pidgeot and Swellow basically have the same exact personality anyway, they could have been equally strong fighters if the writers knew what to do with it back then.

My favorite is Swellow. That bird is awesome and beats all other flying pokemon despite the fact that some are TR robots.

My favorite is Charizard, but I was just wondering; If Betterfree can count as a flying type, then why isn't Heracross on the list? He can fly! If Butterfree's on the list, then Heracross should be, too.

Yamato-san

I own the 5th gen
Oosubame. Badass voice, badass attack methods, badass (and often believable) battles, he's just plain badass (though, more of a distinguishable personality would be nice, but he's already a step above his other flyers as it is). He's quite the heavy-hitter, and with his choreography in flight, he's just very exciting to see every time he's used in combat. If you don't believe me, check out this post of mine describing part of his fight in the previous Japanese episode.

Oosubame f***ing rocks in this episode, and though it was brief, him going against the Mecha Onidrill Army was definitely one of the best parts of the episode. If you're only looking at screenshots of this episode, still shots do not do the guy justice. I mean, look at this and see what you're missing out on.

After bashing one Onidrill out of the way, he then proceeds to grasp another by the neck before tossing it behind him.

Afterwards, he lowers his altitude and goes in to strike another mecha from below...

Followed immediately by an aerial sommersault.

He's not bad aesthetically, neither, with a spiffy red and navy (almost black) color scheme. You also gotta enjoy the irony of it all... before he evolved, he saw about the same type of usage as his previous birds. The typical tool that does nothing but scout and pop Rocket balloons. He hardly saw much battle, and when he did, he got a win record that would make him envious of Cotoise. Once he evolved, though, he did a complete turn around, and even accomplished something that his last birds never did: he become one of the most prominent members of Satoshi's team (well, Pigeon BEFORE the starters came around might be an exception... you know, I agree with Cyber, Pigeon was a wasted opportunity. The writers could've done much more with him, but they opted to stuff starters down our throats instead).

Overall, I'd say he ranks up as my second favorite of Satoshi's Pokemon, only after Jukain. Jukain, of course, doesn't fly, so it was ridiculously easy for Oosubame to get my vote in this thread.

Swellow. Because he never gives up. When Ash first captured him as a Taillow, he refused to stop figthing until Ash captured him. Also, Swellow has real style. The battle with Winona's Shiny Swellow was sheer poetry. He's elegant, and he gets the most use.

Swellow. Besides charizard, it is the only one that got any real character development. It is strong too, being a formidable force in the ever grande tournament. Noctowl could have been good, being shiny and all, but they just gave it the cliche "Team rocket's balloon popper".

I have a big preference for Noctowl because it was Ash's first bird pokemon that kicked serious butt (pidgeotto/pidgeot just... didn't). Plus, Noctowl was the featured pokemon in my favorite gym battle, the one with Morty, so I prefer it above all the others.

Swellow > Charizard > the other three are pretty much insignificant to me

I said Noctowl because it is the only pokemon that Ash has that can use Psychic attacks. That and it is shiny =)

No, because Butterfree is Bug/Flying, and Heracross is Bug/Fighting

Charizard, he was funny (When Burning Ash) and still a good fighter, also you could see him as a good flyer in Falkner´s Battle. Swellow has a close second position, though
