Edit: Mleh, might as well do a summary.

Pikachu: Everyone's favourite electric rat. Even if it does win predictable matches, it has been given a pretty decent moveset which isn't just the basic thunder/bolt/shock attacks.

Taillow/Swellow: One of the best flying types, and it does well in nearly everything it participates in. No matter how many times it is beaten it can still keep on going. Amazing.

Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile: Wow. It has a very unique personality, and a good one at that. It may not have many attacks but it can pull off amazing fights sometimes.

Corphish: The humour of the group! And as well as having that odd little funny quirk about it, it is also a very competitive battler if you give it the opportunity.

Torkoal: Nothing like a crybaby to make a team good. Although many crying Pokemon are annoying, Torkoal is just too damn cute and funny to be made fun of.

Snorunt/Glalie: An odd Pokemon for Ash and that is why this, along with the rest of his team, is so good and unpredictable. Good build up on the Ice Beam scenario too.

Phanpy/Donphan: A lovely playful fellow that is good at battling too. This is probably two of the greatest characteristics of a Pokemon rolled into one.

Overall I would go with Corphish, because he is my favourite water type and funny too.

1. Treecko line- Such a hard working pokemon even when it was a Treecko. I'm glad its finally reached its final stage and becomes the powerhouse its always wanted to be. It has a great set of moves and my favorite grass move of all time- Leaf Blade

2. Taillow line- Another hard worker and a cool flying pokemon replacement for Ash's Noctowl which had a small personality.

3. Corphish- may not be best in the power department but he gives alot of laughs. Glad to see a crab on Ash's team after poor shafted Kingler.

4. Phanpy line- Never too fond of Phanpy but Donphan owns. One of my favorite ground pokemon but Dugtrio and Sandslash are still much cooler.

5. Snorunt line- A cool ice type which showed some good fights in the Hoenn league.

6. Pikachu- Still a great electric type. A little tiring but I like Iron Tail and Volt Tackle.

7. Torkoal- The crying got annoying but it is a decent fire type overall.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile and Corphish are tied in my books. They are some of the best developed Pokemon this series has ever seen.

Swellow certainly deserves a mention here. As a Taillow it was pretty weak but ever since it became Swellow it's been quite strong.

Snorunt was funny (loved it when he froze Ash's hat, Max's glasses, and then put it back on their faces only to have them scream. :D ) and Glalie was a powerhouse. I love the fact that Ash finally got one of those "menacing" Pokemon people never thought he'd have.

Phanpy/Donphan, also great. Phanpy was adorable and Donphan is like a cute little kid wrapped in this massive bulk.

Torkoal is probably my least favorite of his AG team overall, but he had some moments, even though the writers shafted him near the end of Hoenn. Torkoal crying for no reason in the Mawhile episode just added to the comedy, and Overheat was pretty nifty too. But eh, sorry Torkoal, you're at the bottom of the list. Still good though.

And lastly, at least Pikachu finally got upgraded with new moves! Iron Tail and Volt Tackle were much needed in it's arsenal, so I'm glad to see even Pikachu get stronger.

The writers really struck gold with Ash's AG team, it was fantastic overall. I can only hope his D/P team will be just as good.

In my book Glalie and Sceptile.
The entire Treeko line is one of the most if not most developed pokemon we have.
Not too mention him being a powerhouse and one of the most intersting pokemon as well. Sceptile has been put into numerous occasions that have developed him not too mention his impressive battles.

Glalie was refreshingly original. A well distinct personality and even had a minor little arc to itself. It also is a great powerhouse.
Honorable mentions: Corphish, Swellow, and Donphan.
I enjoyed Phanpy alot and Donphan reinforces my opinion. Donphan is a good example of how evolution doesnt have to change personalities.
Swellow is really awesome. Not too mention a killer app. Swellow never really developed a distinct personality though.
Corphish is just plain awesome from the moment we saw him all the way in Dewford. Not too mention he has developed quite alot as well. My only complaint is him not gaining a special move like all the others.

Torkoal had a distinct personality but, the writers neglected it and he ever did anything noteworthy. With all of Ash's Hoenn pokemon I can pick out a memorable battles in Hoenn and the BF saga. I cant really for Torkoal which is too bad.
Pikachu also made a good turn by learning volt tackle and iron tail.

.Bambi.

Be Wise, Tell Lies.
My Favourite is Corphish.
It was my favourite Pokemon of Ash's all through AG until Snorunt came along. Though Snorunt had replaced him for 1st, Corphish was still in a close 2nd. Then when Snorunt evolved, I didn't find it appealing anymore [even though it somwhat kept the same personality] and thus, Corphish was back in business.

Sooo...I'll give you my list from most liked to least liked.

1) Corphish

2) Torkoal

3) Swellow

4) Donphan

5) Sceptile

6) Glalie

7) Pikachu

Clearly I really do not like Glalie's design, because it went from 1st to second last in an evolution.

Team Awesome
Corphish is definitely my favorite of Ash's Hoenn team, because he's hilarious. I love it when he gets angry especially, because his reactions can be pretty funny most of the time. My best even got me a Corphish plushie for Christmas the other day (yes, we exchanged late, she lives out of town).

Seeing Pikachu in third place makes me die a little bit inside.
Anyways, for me it was between Snorunt/Glalie and Phanpy/Donphan. Like K.C, I'll do them in order of most liked to least liked.

Snorunt/Glalie.
Phanpy/Donphan.
Taillow/Swellow.
Torkoal.
Corpish.
Sceptile.
Pikachu.

I hate Sceptile and Corpish because of there ugliness, and because they're so overrated. I hate Pikachu because it's an irritating n00b-fodder. But the rest of Ash's Hoenn team is pretty cool. I prefered his Johto team, though, because it was varied and full of exotic, powerful Pokemon. Only downside was that the Pokemon themselves lacked personallity, and that Cyndaquil and Totodile didn't evolve. Otherwise it was perfect.

The exact reason I chose the Treecko line.

Corphish would have to be next for me. Powerful little bugger, and funny as all hell. He also had some good character development.

Snorunt/Glalie is next. Mostly because of my affinity to Ice types. The worst part of this line is that Snorunt came so late in Hoenn...and that it was dumped off so quickly. :(

Torkoal is next for me. It had great character, and it had/has so much potential. Its a shame that the writers wanted it to suck so badly.

The best part about Swellow is that it proved that Flying types aren't only used for popping balloons. The writers made Swellow into a force to be reckoned with which is good for it. Now if only they could do something more with Noctowl and Pigeot (assuming Ash sees it again).

I'm glad Phanpy got the second chance it deserved. Its doing so well in BF. Don't really have an opinion of it because it got so little screen time in Johto.

I never really cared for Pikachu, but I'm glad its doing more than Thunderbolt and Thunder. The best part for me was watching it get its tail handed to it against Flannery's Torkoal. [SPOIL]The fight against Lucy's Milotic kinda reminds me of that fight.[/SPOIL]

Agreed. Unfortunately almost everybody who likes power will vote for Sceptile or Glalie.
Well I voted for Glalie because it's personality. I loved it as a snorunt and it kept the same personality as a Glalie. Honestly who doesnt like a giant floating ice ball(besides KC). I also liked that it wasnt weak since that really doesnt work well with his personality. Also Sceptile is one of the most developed pokemon personality and physical wise. I'm suprised no one voted for Donphan because it has a fun personality with a good amount of strength to boot. Swellow I feel didnt really branch out with a distinct personality like the other AG team.

Did anyone point out that Phanpy/Donphan was NEVER in Hoenn yet?

If not: Phanpy/Donphan was NEVER in Hoenn. Though I understand that this is more about the AG Generation rather than Hoenn itself. ^_^

As for who to pick, I cannot decide. The only one I know for sure is Pikachu, and he's on the bottom rung.

Pikachu is great..but it's great for every season, so I've gone a different direction.
I am the loner(for the time being) who chose Taillow/Swellow. C'mon...a flying type that can withstand electric attacks needs some credit. -_^ But I chose Swellow because I was most impressed with it in the last gym episodes that aired this morning(for me). It was quick, graceful, brave, and powerful. It diving into the water without a second's hesitation was breath taking. Definately the Pidgeotto/Pidgeot chip off the old block. ;)

Seriously, everyone complaining for Pidgeot to return while Swellow is just as good if not better. Anyway, out of all of Ash's teams I like Hoenn the best. I despise his Johto team and his Kanto/OI team was good but AG is better. I also hated how Ash caught all 3 starters. Glad they got rid of that and gave May and Brock the starters.

Why does everyone hate Ash's Johto team?
I thought it was the best team by far. It had way cooler Pokemon than any of the other teams. The only downside was, as Seizureman put it, that he got all the starters. He should have gotten a Magcargo instead of a Cyndaquil and a Quagsire instead of a Totodile, and Misty/Brock should have gotten Totodile and Cyndaquil.
But I'm not complaining: the Johto team and Togepi were the best thing the anime had to offer for many years. (Until AG)

1.Treecko/Grovyle/SCEPTILE!- No Pokemon does arsekicking better. The best personality, amazing agility, clever battle tactics. And it just flipping evolved into my favorite Pokemon. Ahhhh.....I bask in the happy glow of the Sceptile picture.
2.Corphish-Its debut episode remains one of my all-time favorites. This guy is so cute. Remember when it ate rope it found on the beach? Ah, good old Corphish. This little guy has had an awful lot of character development, too. And he's a formidable fighter as well, with mad water skills.
3. Snorunt/Glalie-With today's episodes fresh in my mind, I think of the most positively adorable Pokemon ever to be a part of Ash's team. It's sad how little time we'll have with the little guy before he evolves into a big guy. But, hey, Glalie rocks. Just in a different way.
4. Phanpy/Donphan-Phanpy is darn cute, but why is it in the Advanced Battle opening? Curse 4Kids. I've always liked Donphan. Its call in GS is quite endearing.
5. Torkoal-I wuv turtles. And when it cries, it is sooooo cute!
6.Swellow-Powerful, but no discernable personality. Also, it can be boring watching Swellow battle.
7. Pikachu-That overpowered rodent needs to get its rear end served to it on a platter by a Dunsparce, or some other "weak" Pokemon. This fat rat is way overpowered.

What I'm finding is that Swellow and Donphan aren't getting many votes because Ash's AG team is so good, and people are spoilt for choice.

I think people hate it mainly because no one evolved except from Chikorita. I personally can cope with it, it's not too bad I suppose. But his other teams were better.

Honestly who doesnt like a giant floating ice ball.

This one had me laughing for about five minutes.

Me too! I voted for Swellow too and saw that I'm only the second one to choose it. So, I guess you're the first ^^. But I also chose Swellow because of that same episode that you mentioned. The part where it flew down into the water was great and also where it got a close-up blast of a hyperbeam and thrown against a huge tower thing (which got knocked down when Swellow slammed into it bwt), but still managing to get up and continue to battle. That was really great to me. It took a great amount of damage and still continues to battle at its best, that was just awesome XD!

I also like Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile, especially Treecko. It was great and had so much dignity and determination, mucch like Grovyle/Sceptile but I just like Treecko the most. From the moment it was shown, it was cool, with that twig in its mouth and all ^^. That episode where it got hurt by some Pokemon in the beginning of AG, it was hospitalized and yet, it went back there to fight that Pokemon again. The episode that recently airead was much simliar to that, with Grovyle coming back to fight Tropius after being injured. It just has so much determination and dignity. I love that!

My favourite would be Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile as it was refreshing to see a "rebel" on the team other than Charizard. Phanpy/Donphan deserves a mention as it's really doing well in AG, something negelcted in Johto. Giving it Hyper Beam was good.

Pikachu deserved to power up with Iron Tail and Volt Tackle but it really can't keep sending Team Rocket blasting off. I'd describe Ash's Hoenn team as one of the best, if not the best.
