I do feel Ash Vs. Maylene was the best Gym in the entire series. The battle between Buizel and Lucario was one of the series best.

Probably most of those sexy DP Gym Battles, the battle with Tobias (despite how much of a cop-out Tobias was), as well as Ash's final battle with Paul. Nostalgia-wise I've always enjoyed Ash's battle with Gary (Silver Conference) and his one with Drake from the Orange League.

But the BW Battles thus-far have been rubbish.

The only DP Gym that wasn't that great was the one against Wake.

The clear win from Ash was certainly a fresh throw-in, but we also had the Ice Aqua Jet, Pikachu and Buizel becoming friends, and also pitching Buizel against it's evolution. Probably one of the weaker DP Gym Battles, but still leagues better than most of what the BW series has offered us.

Ash VS Paul (though I could have done without Brock, Dawn, Barry & Reggie commenting on EVERY SINGLE MOVE that was used)

All of Ash's DP Gym Battles except the one against Wake. The Ash VS Paul 6 on 6 battle at Lake Acuity. I also like Ash's Unov Gym Battles, as well as Ash VS Iris.

Believe it or not I actually really enjoy the BW battles.

Ash vs Elesa was brilliant, the whole tension and atmosphere of it all was great. It just reminded me of how Ash and Pikachus bond/friendship is a message that the show constantly tries to get across to us, it's amazing.

Ash vs. Pikachu- Nice battle, wish I could have seen the winner

Ash vs. Drapion- Amazing...he actually kicked it in the eye

My favorites are....like none in the OS I've never seen many of the battles...

I loved: Ash vs. Maylene, Ash vs. Dento, Ash vs. Falkner, Ash vs. Paul (6 on 6 at Lake Acuity and at the league) and those are about the only battles I'll rewatch on my own. :/

- Ash vs. Danny (Orange Islands gym leader, not really a battle, but I still count this).
- Ash vs. Rudy.
- Ash vs. Drake.

Jotho

- Ash vs. Falkner.
- Ash vs. Bugsy.
- Ash vs. Chuck.
- Ash vs. Misty (Whirl Cup).
- Ash vs. Clair.
- Ash vs. Gary.
- Ash vs. Harrison.

No Hoenn and Sinnoh battles, I don't like those, they're way too game-like, most of them are always like this:
- Both trainers get down to one Pokemon.
- Ash has trouble with certain game mechanic, often an ability.
- Brock explains game mechanic to May/Dawn.
- Ash finds way to overcome game mechanic and wins.

The Kanto, Orange Islands and Jotho battles were often tense, suspenseful and enjoyable for me. I can't describe why, but they entertained me much more. But good, I enjoy all Original Series anime, and hate the Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova saga, so that also might have to do with it.

Going to agree with Cyber here, probably my favourite ones.

I don't really care for the Hoenn one but it was a good battle but there are others like that to me.

The gym and that battle were cool, the recent Yakon gym was pretty awesome too.

Based on this list, I like the battles that are truly memorable, have great animation, great strategy, nice action, a dose of funny moments and a satisfactory result.

Orange Island...pretty much the last 2 gym battles and the Drake Battle

Johto...ehh, Pikachu was in every gym, so only the league matches were the best imo

Hoenn...again...Pikachu had almost all the gyms, but the only gym I hated was Tate and Liz, so, everthing was fine

Sinnoh, loved all the battles except Tobias, but even that was some what good

There are plenty others but im pretty sure they stand out as good battles imo.

Yeah Pikachu was in every Gym which he probably shouldn't have but that's no reason to hate every single gym battle, I take it you don't like Pikachu.

Considering Ash only had to defeat one of them, the first Gym was good when Ash beat Chilli, but I disliked his fight with Cilan.

Oshawott's little tactic relied too much on luck imo I just can't picture that happening having the shell rebound into his hands. Im waiting for a rematch between Ash and Cilan haha.

The 5th Gym was great too but I personally prefered the 4th Gym, mainly cause Pikachu vs Emolga and Tynamo was brilliant.

A lot of the Original Series' battles were boring, but I did like Ash against Gray and Drake. Hoenn had quite good battles too, especially in the Battle Frontier. Sinnoh by far had the best battles of the series, ten times better than BW so far. In BW, I liked Ash's battle with Clay, and the Don Battles, but that was it really.

Overall, I think the Sinnoh Gym battles and Ash vs paul would have to be my favourites. I liked Ash vs Tobias too, despite how much of a trollish cop out it was.
