Generation I introduced a trio of legendary birds, also known as the Winged Mirages. Which one is your favourite? Please remember not to spam and explain your choice a bit.

It will always be Articuno! I love ice types and the design is just majestic and I love when they add the sparkles in the anime and other forms of media.

That’s Detective Viper to you
I will give two answers here. Let me explain: the legendary birds are basically two sides of the same coin. On one side we have the original legendary trio which could only be found when completing some insane dungeon, interacting with them, and finally capturing them. On the other side we have their Galarian counterparts which come to feast on a tree, battle it out, flee to various places in Galar, then be caught by the player. Each version of them brings their own set of strengths and weaknesses that cannot be ignored. So let’s get to the answers…

When it comes to the Kantonian version of this trio I would tip my hat to Articuno. It has the visuals of the most majestic of the three which is even captured in all of its RBY sprites. It has the capability to learn moves that would counter its type weaknesses in Bubble Beam (Generation I) or Water Pulse (Generation III+). The Seafoam Islands has the hardest puzzle to solve of the three so capturing it is quite the reward. It is also one of the few Pokémon that can run the craziest battle strategy in Mind Reader + Sheer Cold causing unprepared foes to drop immediately. I remember saving my Bubble Beam TM in most of my RBY plays so I could teach it to this Pokémon and just run through the competition. It has dropped in usefulness by a landslide at this point in the series. But it has a special place in my own Pokémon history.

When we view their Galarian versions we have to talk about Zapdos. The backstory of its kicks happening so fast that is sounds like the thunder of the Kantonian Zapdos… that’s just crazy fast. The design of this Pokémon reminds me of the Road Runner from the Wile E. Coyote Looney Tunes cartoons. It also has the widest movepool of the three with access to moves of various types from ground (Stomping Tantrum), fire (Blaze Kick), grass (Trailblaze), among others. As I was more into competitive battles when Generation VIII came out, I naturally gravitated towards the one that seems to thrive the best out of the three of them.

As you can see, poor Moltres is left out as the other two really have places to shine—at least in my opinion. But this answer shows that this question may not be as straightforward as you think.

Although I really like all three of them (in their Kantonian Formes, anyways), I'll go with Articuno. It is majestic and elegant, I love its cry, and Seafoam Islands are my favourite location in Kanto. I also have a soft spot for Moltres, although it may be because of nostalgia, as Moltres was the first legendary I've ever caught, and Galarian Moltres is the only Galarian legendary bird I actually like.

Articuno for me. Though that's partially because in gen 1 I used it a lot more than the other two. Mainly because it stood out from the other ice types being a non water type (which I already had a water type in blastoise) which it was the only one apart from Jynx (and I preferred it to Jynx). It was also the first legendary I caught which made it seem a bit more special. Moltres and Zapdos I did also have other options of fire and electric types. It also looks really awesome and I do think it embodies the Ice type really well.

Probably Zapdos, but I really love Articuno as well. Funnily enough in terms of the Galarian trio, Galarian Moltres is my favorite out of the trio
