An image just popped in my mind of Fini holding Ash in a sphere of water forcing Kiawe to get the scales back before he drowns.

Who knows maybe Kiawe will get a third capture to let him compete in the Alolan league

Sounds like that Greek myth Japanese media like to bring up from time to time.

Also...
*ahem*
"And if you don't return in time, I'll dye Ash's hair purple!"
"NO NOT THAAAT!!"

Given the title for this episode is run Kwiae surpass yourself and the episode before this are evolution episode, is that mean kwiae is going to evolve into ida lol.

So Tapu Fini is finally getting it's own focus episode. I do wonder how a Fire-type specialist like Kiawe having an integral involvement in an episode focused on Tapu Fini will fit though. But I'm glad that the Poin Island Trial related stuff are getting focus here.

The focus with Kiawe will probably be with Tapu Lele due to the family history with it and the fact he needs to get some scales from it. We'll probably find out more about Tapu Fini with the few moments it has with Ash and in the episodes after.

Not thinking twice!
disappointed that unless the arc lasts like 10 episodes this would mean that iwane has only animated 1 trial and 0 grand trials

Rock Captain 99

Following the dreams!!
Guess the capture would happen (if it's happening) at the end of Poni arc, or just before the trial. Ash is definitely in need of a capture!

Now, the plot for this episode sounds really interesting. Ash sure is causing a lot of problems on Poni Island, huh? First, Hapu thinks he is stealing from her and now he is captured by Tapu Fini.

At least Tapu Fini finally appears but sure Ash gets into a lot of trouble at Poni Island in the Poni arc. Of course Ash is going to be rescued.

Why can't Pikachu use Thunderbolt on it because it's a water type

I'm going to guess that Pikachu is trapped too, and whatever they are trapped in reflects any attack and will just cause Ash to get zapped.

If Ash is captured, then Pikachu would most likely be captured as well.

It's a Legendary with weird powers. A single Thunderbolt isn't going to instantly knock it out, type disadvantage or not.

As established with Tapu Koko, the tapu can retract into their shells to block attacks.

I wonder if this will double as kiawes grand trial (since he needs to do the island challenge for the league.. iirc) by tapu fini since by this point hapu probably wont be a kahuna.

Ash, you idiot.
Well, who's to say it's Ash idea. Maybe it will be both their idea. And even if it will be Ash's idea, Kiawe will go along with it.

You know Ash is the cosmic plaything. He doesn't have to be at fault to be the one chosen for punishment.
True. Also, I'm a bit surprised it would kidnap Ash even though it was more than willing enough to upgrade Ash's Z-Ring into a Z-Power Ring. Shouldn't it know Ash is a good person?

You know, I'm almost wondering if, in surprising turn of events for this series, that this is merely a test for Kiawe and Ash actually turns out to be in on it, if not initially than pretty soon into the capture and plays along, much like Mallow was in on one of Ash's trials on Akala.

I mean, maybe. Kiawe could get the Ground Z-Crystal if Ash ends up getting a different crystal. Kiawe's Marowak does know Bonemerang after all.

Satomine Night

The Power of Z!
I don't expect Ash to know that he shouldn't battle at the Ruins of Hope, since he is not an Alolan native and, therefore, wouldn't necessarily be aware of how sacred the ruins' grounds are. But Kiawe has no excuse. He is an Alolan native whose grandfather was an Island Kahuna. He of all people should be aware of how sacred the ruins are and that, outside of a Grand Trial conducted by a Kahuna, people probably shouldn't be battling there.

Why would it be angry when Ash did two Grand Trials on a ruin? I guess because it's not a trial, it's angry?
IIRC, don't the Kahunas ask their respective island's Tapu guardian to watch over their battle during a Grand Trial? I seem to recall both Hala and Olivia making a speech to Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele, respectively, before they battled Ash. That could be part of the Grand Trial, to ensure the Tapu doesn't get angry at a battle being held on its sacred grounds. But when two random kids decide to battle on the holy ruins without the Tapu's approval, that's a big no-no and is enough to arouse the Tapu's wrath.
