We hear Serena's thoughts as she tries to grab Ash's hand, but I don't understand that much Japanese.

A couple of weeks ago, this could been a perfect Christmas episode with all the decorations and another kind of tree

Nope.

However, we learned that Fukuji is the one who tells them about the festival and that the presents Serena buys are new sunglasses for Yancham and a rosette clip for Fokko.

I'm glad that the animators are being consistent when it comes to Coumarine's abundant Grass-types here as the preview showed. Hawlucha's poses made me cackle as well, as did Ash's interest in that giant cat head.

It's nice seeing Ash be his goofy self, and pick out absolutely silly looking presents during their time together...nowhere near the taste Serena has. XD

I totally adore Serena's new sunglasses for Pancham, but the pink ribbon-like rosette clip for Fennekin is hideous imo. If I were Fennekin, I'd return it for store credit.

He's the Coumarine Gym Leader, the festival happens in Coumarine City, and his Gym has some importance here as the preview showed.

Really glad Ramos is in this episode, I loved his personality in the last two eps, so seeing him again is neat.
