Am I missing something here? Barrier is a move in the games that raises Defense by two stages. Dragonite cannot learn it, but Lance's Dragonite has it.

TBH I don’t get the logic that if Ash does the World Champion, it has to be his last saga. There’s always going to be more Pokémon to see and catch and more battles to be had. Plus new Pokémon need experience to perform well. Everything Ash catches in this saga probably won’t be a fully evolved mon

Him entering it doesn't mean the end at all, losing it just proves he still has a ways to go.
I do hope Cynthia's the one to knock him out in the end, and not the gen 9 champion just cause.
