From before I wrote the first word of this story, Ash was intended to die. I've never seen a fic where he does, and so I aimed to do something that was both ruthless and unforgettable. It was the whole purpose in writing it when I started (althought that later changed as it grew longer and longer in length).
I considered adding more detail to the battle scene, but the chapter was already 25 pages and I like the state of confusion that was given off; with such a massive battle between every legendary Pokemon, the Grunts, and Ash's companions, it could be nothing less than utterly disorienting.
