Final Fantasy: A Changed World

Long before Noah built his ark, the tales tell of an ancient land called Kilita...
a world where swords and sorcery reigned.

Its learning and power were swept away in the great flood, but one clue to its secrets remained: an ancient book known as the Gran Grimoire, hidden in darkness by the powers that once were.

It is not certain how many copies of the book still exist, but it is said that whoever should hold one holds the power to change the world.

Many lived out their out their days searching the world for surviving copies but none were ever found.

It was an illusion, they said. A myth - but one worth dying for...

Mewt Randell watched as the snow fell outside his window. The night was cold and Mewt held his teddy bear tight to his chest to try and keep himself warm. Today had been horrible for him. Their had been a major snowball fight at school today. Colin and his goons had pelted him with snowballs non-stop at lunch time. One had even had a rock in it and had made him bleed. He rubbed his head to try and stop the lump from hurting.

He wished he wasn't picked on so much. He wished his mum was still with him. It seemed so long ago now that his mum had become ill and passed away. Ever since then, his father has had trouble keeping a job and this had made him even more miserable and alone. He moved away from the window and got into bed, his teddy bear close beside him.

He picked up a book that he had bought today. It looked very old and the front cover had many strange symbols and glyphs on it. Mewt had been saving his money for this book for along time and had been so eager to get it. The opened the book and began to skim through the pages. A strange language littered the pages and mysterious drawings of monsters and creatures were sketched throughout the book. They reminded him of one of his favourite games called Final Fantasy. He wish he could go on an adventure like that and use magic. He still wanted his mum back though.

"Mum... I wish I could bring you back some how." A tear fell down his face and fell on the front of the book. The book began to give off a bright golden glow. Mewt looked at it in horror and fascination. "W-whats going on?" he asked in a scared tone. The light began to get brighter before surging out from the book. The light become so bright it made it so Mewt couldn't see. He began to feel lightless and then sleepy. Before he could act, he fell unconscious.

And so it began...

Sora was scribbling another drawing in his sketchbook. It was a roughly drawn dragon breathing fire at a warrior. The warrior was blocking the attack with a shield. He put down his pencil and closed the sketchbook and put on his shelf with many more books. He gave a deep sigh before turning towards the window. Snow was gently falling from a huge cloud in the sky.

"What a dull day... then again so was yesterday... and day before that." Sora had been a depression lately. Every day seemed to be just like the other, the same thing over and over again. The only interesting thing that had happened to him recently was completing Final Fantasy X for the 4th time. Would he ever escape from this prison of boredom? He moved away from the window and began to get into bed. Suddenly a flash of white light appeared from the window. Curiously, he ran over to the window, opened it up and put his head outside to see the cause of the light. The Light was coming from down the street. The light had begun to envelop everything, swallowing all that it came into contact with. Houses, street lamps, even people running away - everything.

Sora backed away from the window in shock of what was happening. "W-w-what is that?" Wanting to know its position, he stuck his head out the window again to see where it was. Without evening getting a chance to react, the light hit his house and himself and enveloped him too. He felt so lightless in the light. He began to fell tired. At first he thought it was from being late but then he began to hurt all over. He then fell unconscious from pain. What was happening to him?

Sora began to wake up slowly, his eyes barely opening as he began to gain consciousness. "URGH! What happened? My heads aching." he said to himself as he lifted himself up from the floor and sit up right. Thats when it all came flooding back to him. The light, it enveloping him, going unconscious - everything.

He took his first good look around at his surroundings for the first time. He was in some backalley, with boxes and paper littering th place. The walls around him had seemed to lose their protection and had begun crumbling. "Where isss thisss place? Thisss issn't my room and - whatsss up with my voice?" He stood up, feeling the weight of something trying to pull him down.

He scratched his head in puzzlement at his dilemma. Thats when he got a massive shock. He brought his hand down in front of his face to get a better look at it. It was protected by a gauntlet with funny symbols on it but what got him most was the fact it was three fingered. He pulled off the gauntlet to show a yellow hand with three claws on it. He moved the claws to make sure they were his. "WHAT ISSS GOING ON?"

He put the gauntlet back on to feel his face. He noticed he was wearing a helmet of some kind. It had two curved horns by the feel of it, and the mouth appeared to be where he was looking out of. He took off the helmet. It was a nicely made dragon mask. He admired the craftmanship of the helmet as looked deep into the red eyes on the dragon. After his quick distraction he began to feel his face for abnormalies. What a surprise. His nose had gone completely apart from two slits and he could feel that his mouth was long like that of an alligator of crocodile. "Mirror... I need a mirror!"
He noticed a broken one leaned against the wall he was next to. He grabbed the mirror hastely and began to examine his face. It too had changed.

He had an almost reptile face and his skin had become yellow. He noticed two familar blue eyes staring back at him and a small growth of black hair on his head but the long mouth, sharp teeth and long drooping ears were a mystery. He slumped back to the ground in disbelief. "What have I become?"

Alexander looked at the snow outside and sighed. What a boring day. He had read all his books two times through and the weather was too unclear to go to the shooting grounds in the hall outside town.

He sighed again and settled down in a chair in front of a blazing fireplace. A book had dropped down beside the chair and Alexander picked it up. "The art of shooting," by a world champion in shooting. Alexander turned the first page and found a picture of a gun. It was one of the first guns ever made. It was grey and simple and the neccesary stuff to load it was placed around it.

Alexander dropped the book down on the floor again and started staring in the fire. Something shone in it. Alexander blinked. It was gone. "Strange..." he said. The flames started flickering, like some wind was blowing. Alexander looked around. No, the window was closed...but, what was that?! It seemed like a long beam of light, shining like a lighthouse right up. Alexander dropped down on the floor in and stared at it. Little by little, the light settled around him, easing him, relaxing him just before...it swallowed him. He fainted and all drifted away.

Alexander dozed. He was not awake, but he was trying to. "He's moving, kupo!" a voice said above him. "He's alive! Kupopo! Hey, Gareth, Meiyou, he's awake! Kupo!" Alexander blinked and opened his eyes just in time to see something brown swish out of a door. Door?

He was in a strange room of old, rotten tree. He was lying on a mat on the floor, a worn blanket underneath him. "Where...where am I? Kupopo?" he tried to say, but he stopped as this word came out of him. Kupo? It had felt so natural...

"You're in our base, little one." a rough voice rang out from the doorway. Alexander turned that way and saw a person, 'round 21, with bright purple clothes on in an arabic matter. Around his neck was long strips of purple cloth. "Lucky we found you." the person continued. "You were unconscious and a pack of Courls were out hunting, so you would've been eaten if we hadn't turned up." Alexander was speechless. Courls? Unconscious? Base?

"Uhm, thank you kupo." he said. The kupo followed. Suddenly he realized he was just in a thin leather shirt. "Where are my clothes, kupo?" Again. Strange. The man shrugged. "Dunno." he said, gazing around the room. "Bound to be here somewhere. The healer had to remove some clothes to check you had no wounds." Then, he smirked. "Don't worry, she didn't peek." Alexander turned a light shade of red. She? A girl?

"Here, Gareth." a silky voice said, approaching. Suddenly, a person appeared. Alexander had to use all his will to not gape. She had long rabbit ears and a light brown fur over all of her. She was covered in some white robes with a streak of golden here and there on the arms. In her arms was a bundle of clothes. "Normal Gunner-clothes, no hidden identity or anything." she said, proving herself to be the owner of the silk-voice. A green small furry creature appeared by her feet, smiling optimistically. Where was he?!

"..which is to be handed in tommorow without fail. That concludes the lesson, any questions?" Mr Greenwood proclaimed as he pointed a long cane-like stick at a blackboard which bore hours worth of notes wrote in chalk.
A rather loud snore came in response, which invited the racket of many people snorting and laughing as Mr. Greenwood began to look very flustered and irritated. Every head in the class turned as Sai's head slowly lifted and faced the boy next to him, who's face had burst into a rosy red colour as he giggled heartily.
"Psst, what have I missed?" Sai muttered, oblivious to the uproar.
"I think you may want to look Greenwood's way," The boy replied as he attempted to control his high-pitched laugh. "You might want to catch more sleep next time!"
"Huh..?"
"Huh indeed Mr. Roberts. Care to inform me why you've been taking a snooze for the past.. let's see, what? 15 minutes? Don't try the old 'had a late night' excuse. It doesn't work with me, lad!"
"Oh, shut up!" Sai exclaimed. He hadn't meant for the little outburst to happen and say what he had intended to mutter, however, it was too late for second-thoughts. Mr Greenwood's fist slammed heavily into the table as he glared down at Sai. He yawned and attempted to apologise but Mr. Greenwood had none of it.

"Class dismissed!" He screamed as he grabbed a sheet from his desk. Sai rolled his eyes, then watched as Greenwood scrawled several lines of rushed writing.
Student Name: Sai Roberts.
Teacher who issued detention: Mr Greenwood.
Reason for detention: Sleeping in class, talking back.

"Great," Sai muttered, then took the now finished detention slip. "See you at the detention, then!"
Mr Greenwood's face once again grew crimson as he slammed his fist once again, to which Sai laughed at.
"One more word out of you, and you'll be getting a term's worth of detentions, you hear me! Now wait there while I go finish off this slip." At this, he stormed out of the room and his footsteps could be heard as he went down the corridor. Sai was left alone in the room as he swung backwards on his creaking chair, whistling to himself. Before the tune had finished, Tom's chair tipped backwards and he hit his head hard on the floor. As he lay dizzy and disorientated on the floor, a searing white light absorbed him as he fainted.

--

"Wake up, Human! Are you alright?"
A soft voice rung in Sai's ears as he came around in a dimly-lit room. In front of him crouched over was a woman wearing somewhat bizarre robes, which wrapped around her in a bright array of colours. On her head sat two ears which seemed oddly familiar to those of a rabbits. As he noticed this distinguishing feature, he cried out: "A Bunny-Woman!?"
"Not quite," She chuckled as she waved a rod made of shining oak. Sparkles floated down towards Sai as they illuminated the room, the shadows which previously lay across the floor were cast away. A soothing warmth overwhelmed Tom as he layed back onto the floor. "We found you unconcious in the Lutia Pass. You were half buried in the snow!"
Sai responded to this by looking down to his clothes, which still had the remnants of snow now melting. Instead of the jeans and T-Shirt which previouslt inhabited Tom's body, there were white robes covering the entire of his body.

"Whoa..."

Alianna was living another boring, mundane day in St. Ivalice. She was tired, having hung out with some of her friends for the umpteenth time this week. She was grateful for having friends, but she really had trouble living a life of being unknown to her family, and even after being drawn into the occult world, her family still ignores her, and deems her ignorant. Alianna hung her head in dismay as in front of her was a thick tome, where the cover was very plain, and had no title written on it. Her sister had given it to her, to force her to learn more. She could hear the crackling of some remnants of fire coming from the living room. So she sleepily and sheepily walked to the living room, where none of her family was present. Alianna stared at the emptiness of the room; it was something that was very odd. Something that really shouldn’t be happening in the first place, and at that, Alianna sighed, went back to her room, grabbed the big tome, lumbered down the stairs in a rage fueled by boredom, and sat on one of the red armchairs, covered with velvet. Alianna looked at the coffee table and saw a plate with some meringue on it, however it was half-eaten.
”Something must’ve happened, that’s for sure,” Alianna muttered to herself. She sighed and finally went around to opening the tome. When she looked into it, she sighed again. ANOTHER translation of the Necronomicon? Oh, for… I should’ve known! Alianna thought, and at that, she slammed the tome down to the ground, making a huge noise.
Suddenly, the fireplace began to crackle more fiercely. Alianna took a look at the fireplace as the sparks started to form a circular spiral, a portal, into something, or somewhere. Alianna had read about this phenomenon before but she didn’t actually think it would happen. She stood there trying to think about what to do, but there was no time for that as she fell to the ground, and fainted as the light became far too bright for her eyes to handle. In her unconsciousness, she could see nothing but a white void, it was far too dizzying for her.

Hey… wake up.
… … … … wake up!
… Oh, come on, wake up!

Alianna sprung awake, she found herself looking at… a short, furry little creature, with an antenna with a ball on it, a woman that resembled a cross between a humanoid and a bunny and a stout grey creature that seemed to be a hunchback. Alianna just stared. Alianna appeared to be sitting up in an area that appeared to be near a river. Alianna could hear the furry creature whisper to the grey one. ”Rizel, It’s such a shame that..” The grey one immediately elbowed the furry creature in an attempt to snap him out of his crazy joke. Afterwards, the stout, grey creature said, “Us? Oh… we were just passing by. Like nomads, one might say. Now, just sit here. It might be a bit dizzying, but nothing too bad.”
He drew his ash staff and spun it in the air, and Alianna did feel slightly dizzy, but after she could feel some energy pulsing through her body. Alianna thanked them, and then the bunny-lady had said “It’s no problem, but you look as if you don’t come from around these parts.” Alianna nodded, and stared at her reflection in the river.

…What just happened?

The person, Gareth leaned back in a chair while Alexander checked his new appearance in a mirror. He had shrunk to half of the size, he'd been and was dressed up in brown rouch leather-clothing. Two empty gun-holsters were still on a chair. "Amnesia, huh?" Gareth said, while thoughtfully nibbling an apple. "That's bad. That normal, Mia?" He turned towards the Viera, as they called the bunny-woman. The healer, or White Mage, shook her head. "Not at all." she said. "He might have experienced a kind of curse and left to die in the Jagd." Gareth nodded for himself.

Suddenly, a yawn was heard from the door-opening. It was a light brown-skinned old figure with some strange red clothes. Gareth rose up. "Ah yes." he said. "Alexander," Alexander had told them his name. "meet our Alchemist and only Nu Mou, Piers. Piers, this is Alexander Bolt, Gunner. He's got amnesia. Found him outside." The Nu Mou nodded and hummed. "Okay." he said and left. Mia rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, he doesn't say much." Then the green Moogle Ivan appeared again. "Breakfast!...or lunch. Or whatever. Food atleast." he announced. "I'll tell James." Then he disappeared, as quickly as he showed up.

The food wasn't bad. It was simple and not exactly tasteful food. "Lemme see...bread, some Chocobo milk, apples and...where's the drink? Are we out?" Gareth counted the wares as he sat down. Ivan nodded and sat down as well. "Yeah, we've gotta get more soon." Gareth shook his head. "For that, we need money." Alexander joined into the conversation as he took a small slice of bread. "Money problems?" Gareth nodded grimly. "Some blokes down in Sphrom got the idea of us being the ones helping some guy out of jail." he said. "So now, we can't show up on any missions without the judges following us. The Judges are the law-keepers here in Ivalice." He added as Alexander looked confused. "Here in the Jagd, laws doesn't count, so we're safe. Isaac keeps us supported. He's a Hunter who helps us with missions and money. Nice guy, you might meet him soon."

Suddenly, another Moogle, probably the one they called James, turned up. "Alexander, was it?" he said, shaking hands with Alexander. "I've got something in my smithy that's yours." Gareth broke in. "James is our handyman, inventor and Gadgeteer. He found the contents of your gun-holsters beside you and brought them with him to fix 'em."

Alexander bit thoughtfully in another thin piece of bread before swallowing it with this sweet Chocobo-milk. Suddenly, Piers appeared in the door leading out. "The Emissiaries!" he shouted, alarmed. "They are coming!" Mia looked pale. Both Moogles facefaulted. Gareth stood up. "Oh no..." he exclaimed. "How many?" Piers shook his head. "They're all six! Armed and everything." Gareth muttered a few words Alexander guessed were curses. "And we're only five." Alexander counted the people around them...Mia, Gareth, Ivan, James and Piers. But... "I can help!" he said.

Sora began to walk out of the alley, using the wall to support himself as he thought of his situation. He was in place he had never been, completely lost, in strange (if not cool) armour and worse of all had become... a monster. He walked out of the alley and into the street. What a shock.

The streets were busy with people, talking, chatting and laughing with each other. He noticed their were humans in the crowd but also many more strange creatures. Woman who had bunny like features, other were sloutched over and looked kind of fragile. To his surprise, there were other lizard creatures (at least he wasn't the last one) there were even small creatures with red pompoms on their head and were briefly mentioned the word "kupo".

"Wait I recognise that! Could those be moogles? But that doesn't make sense. Their from -" A large lizard bumped into him from behind.

"Watch it sssmall fry." he angrily said to a confused Sora. Sora turned round to see who was talking to him.

"Hey, your a lizard asss well!" The lizards face began to go red.

"What did you jusst call me! No one calls a bangaa a lizard and getss away with it - not even another bangaa!" The bangaa showed two nasty looking knuckles on his hand, each one had three sharp claws on them. Sora jumped back in fear.

"Hey, I didn't mean anything I -"
The streets had begun to empty with people, either running away or going inside their houses. Sora had never gotten into a fight in his life (unless he counted that time with the neighbours dog) he didn't know what to do.

" But I don't even have a weapon!"

"Then whatss that on your back?" asked the bangaa. Sora felt behind him to see what the bangaa was pointing to. He was right, there was something n his back. He pulled it foward to get a better look. It was a lance. The metal was tinged black slightly and a fearsome dragon head at the end opened up its mouth to show a mighty looking lance head. " Sso are we fighting or not ssmall fry?" Sora didn't know if it was fear of the creature standing before him, or the power he felt from holding the lance but he went for it.

"F-fine then I'll take you on." He told the bangaa. The bangaa smiled evily.

"This should be fun. I've never fought a dragoon before."
"Dragoon?" He remembered it as a class from Final Fantasy. It was a person who copied the style of dragons and used it against others. When he thought about it it made sense with all the dragon related armour and weapons. Cool! He was a dragoon.

A figure appeared on the roof of a nearby house. The man was covered in shiny and beautifully made silver armour. He was riding a large yellow bird which had armour similar to his attached to it. It looked famliar some how.

"Engagement accepted. Opponents comfirmed. Law 3763 in progress today: All use of items disallowed." the man spoke.

"Who are you?" asked Sora.

"I am judge 175 of the Royal Family of Ivalice. I will enforce this engagment today and make sure the laws of the royal family are upheld."

"Err ok." agreed Sora.

"Let the engagment begin!" shouted the judge. Sora held his lance in front of him ready for his opponents move. This was it. He was going to fight this bangaa and win. He just hoped he could master his weapon in time to win.

Alexander lined up with the other members of the Clan Light, as they called themselves, face to face with another gang. The leader was a Ninja like Gareth, but with clothes in a dark shade of red. Behind him stood a red monster consisting of one big eye and a pair of wings and another monster looking like some half-woman, half-snake. An Ahriman and a Lamia, Gareth had informed him while they readied their equipment. The lizard-like creature with a dangerous looking blade was a Bangaa Gladiator. The veiled Viera was a Sniper and the Viera with the horn a Summoner. She was one of the most dangerous in the whole group, as she could summon godly monsters from the sky to deal damage. Alexander gulped as the leaders stepped forward.

"In the name of the Dark God," the Emissary Leader said. "Do you still seek the good in the Jagds and help every wounded you come across?" Gareth nodded. "Then, you must be ready for your destiny, to die before our blades." the Emissary went on. "This engagement is between the Jagd Emissaries and the Clan Light." At the last word, he spat and walked back to the rest of his Clan.

"Okay, here's the plan." Gareth said. "Ivan, we'll need some diversion to start with. Make sure the Catnip and the Chocobo bait is ready." The Moogle Animist nodded. "Piers, Mia, stay in the back. Piers, make sure to halt the Summoner long enough for James to strike her down. Mia, watch over Piers and...Alexander." He turned towards Alexander as he was readying his Longbarrel-gun. "Stay far back and keep hidden. Use your gun with no hesitation and aim carefully. Keep the Gladiator wounded and the Ahriman blind. Just shoot at its eye." Then, they turned around towards the Emissaries. The leaders raised their hands. "Engage!" They commanded...and the chaos erupted.

What's this? Another broken clock?" Seru, the young man who had said this was quite angered by this point. Apparently, this was one of the many clocks that had been brought in to be fixed since the holidays had started a while back. However, each time his parents had gotten a few of the clocks fixed up, the owners would come right on back to the store, puzzled at how the clocks could break so easily. Often, they blamed it onto Seru's parents, but his parents had been fixing them for ages now, and never before had they gotten so many complaints or requests to fix sooo many time keeping devices. Unfortunately, the reason why Seru was angered was because he was dragged into this fixing spree as well.

"Mom? Dad? Have either of you seen that screwdriver that I've been using this week? I haven't seen it at all today...." Seru seemed to yell out through the house as he carried a small watch with him. However, even after moments of waiting, Seru recieved no answer. Impatiently, Seru rushed through the large wooden double doors that separated his home from the shop. As he entered though, he noticed that neither one of his parents had yet to even cross through the door, becuase the place was still so quiet, and because the lights of the room had yet to even be flipped up. Deciding to take matters into his own hadns, the angered teen flipped the light switch that was located beside him on, and began to busily hunt for the item.

However, as he searched, Seru tossed things here and there, not once noticing what he was looking for. After what seemed like and eternity of searching, Seru managed to catch sight of his small, red and purple colored screwdriver. Apparently, it was up by the window of the shop. Seru grunted in frustration as he headed for the small item. As soon as his few second walk was up, Seru reached down for the item, until suddenly he was almost blinded from a sudden white light coming from outside the window. Shaking his head in disbelief of how anyone could be shining a bright light at a moment like this, Seru quickly grabbed the screwdriver and stuck it into his pocket. Afterwards, he through on his jacket, and rushed outside to see what the light had come from. It didn't take him too long to find out though, for about as soon as he marched 4 steps, the light returned. This time however, it seemed to shine all around him, and was so bright that Seru's eyes could no longer remain open.....

.....When he finally woke, Seru found himself feeling a little heavier than he had flet before. When he reached for his head to feel it, he found that he had to struggle a bit first. He also noticed however, that his fingers and face felt different than usual. His face, instead if feeling with the usual bumps he normally had, felt quite.... furry.

This got Seru to wake quite abruptly. At this point, fully awake, Seru looked around for a bit, and noticed that he wasn't where he was before. The place outside his home certainly didn't look like this AT ALL! Seru's eyes widened when he passed a nearby window, for he noticed that he truly wasn't himself anymore.

Looking down, the first thing he noticed was he wasn't in the clothing that he had worn before. Not only was he not wearing the same color that he had worn before he passed out, he was also wearing a totally different type of clothing all together! The clothing he currently had on was purple, and very much looked like a dress. Quite angered, Seru decided that this must have been a joke from his friends.

Perhaps they had simply knocked him out, then dressed him up into something out of the ordinary tog et him back for what he had done earlier. This however, was disproven when Seru looked at himself higher up in the mirror. His arms seemed to have shrunk while he had slept, and had somehow gotten smaller. When he stared at his face though, Seru suddenly was totally overwhelmeed.

"This... this can't be!" He called out with a slightly quieter voice. The voice however, seemed to be calmer than he felt. "This... this must all be a dream...." He whispered as he fell to his now furry knees.

Short, but I'm in a rush so this'll have to do

Alianna looked back at the trio who were talking amongst themselves, probably deciding on what exactly to do.
”Rizel, you think we should?” the furry creature asked the grey one. He was leaning against a black sword which he wielded.
”I guess, how about you, Misericorde?” Rizel had said, in a quick attempt to get this discussion over with, and to gain a consensus.
“Quit calling me that, too formal. But then again, it isn’t too bad having one of my own kind for some god-freaking company!” Misericorde had blurted out, glaring at the one with the pompom on his head.
Alianna stood up.
”Oh, so you must’ve heard. How about you like to come along with us?” the white one asked, eyeing Alianna creepily. Misericorde and Rizel nodded with smiles on their faces.
”It would be stupid if I didn’t refuse. Why not? And, who are you guys anyway?” Alianna asked.
”The Moogle and the Nu Mou can’t get it in their heads to call me Miserie, and not my full name,” Misericorde had whispered in Alianna’s ear. Alianna nodded afterwards. Misericorde had made it evident in her attire, mainly of red clothing, that she was a Red Mage, a practitioner of many magical arts. Soon enough, the Moogle stepped up and stood abnormally close to Alianna. “They all call me Engel. Don’t ask about my real name,” Alianna just blinked. “What? It’s true!”
Misericorde nodded with a bit of a look in her face. Engel’s sword looked unwieldy for him, but despite this, he could apparently use it in battle with ease. The Nu Mou then began to walk slowly towards Alianna. He bowed politely and said, “You may call me Rizel.” Alianna nodded and looked into the distance. Suddenly, there were some creatures that began to encroach.
”Well, that’s strange… I thought we cleared them all out. There are more?” Rizel asked. Misericorde nodded, refraining from telling the obvious.
”Can you fight?” Engel questioned Alianna, eyeing her obsidian saber. She quickly spat out an “I think…” before she fumbled around for a weapon and drew the saber La Verite.
”Niiiiiiiice… err, uum,”
”Alianna.”
”Yeah! Now let’s just wait for those creeps to get here.”

"B..b...but w..who are you?" Sai stuttered as the woman simply laughed.
"Have you hit your head or something? I'm Linu, a viera White Mage," She replied, though from the dumbfounded expression on Sai's face, she could tell he still didn't understand. "There really is something wrong with you.."

"Hey! Just answer my questions. What are you? As in.. what is a viera? Or a White Mage for that matter..."
"Are you being serious!? You should know what a White Mage is, you are one!"
"Huh.. could you start off by telling me what one is?"

Linu sighed, brandished her rod and handed it to Sai.
"This is a rod, the basic tool of White Magic if you like. As a white mage, it is your duty to cure the sick, to heal the hurt. You possess magic capable of that, which you can utilise by concentrating and focus on what to you want to do with your white magic. Pretty easy after some practise!"
"Whoa... I..I..I have the power to do this..? But how!?" Sai shrieked, darting his eyes around the room in both panic and excitement.
"Just calm down. Downstairs is a clan who want to take you in as their resident healer. If you were surprised about vieras, then you've got alot more to be surprised about. I'll go downstairs and inform them of your condition. Come down stairs at your leisure."

First, Ivan started by throwing some seeds on the ground. It took five seconds before a great pack of yellow birds appeared in the middle of the battle. Clan Light had already been informed and jumped to the sides but the Emissaries quickly got on their feets and charged.

The two Ninjas from each Clans quickly ended up in a duel with four swords, two each. They parried and lunged at each other in a wild speed and stray swings were no rarity. Soon, a great opening in the battle opened up around them. 'Cause battle was everywhere now.

James had quickly charged towards the summoner in the middle of the Chocobo swarm and was now madly slashing at the Viera with his knuckle-claws. Alexander looked confused at Ivan. The Moogle blinked. "Catnip." he informed Alexander. "Drives people mad for a while." Right beside James, the Gladiator readied his blade, but the Bangaa was stopped as he miraculously turned into a frog. Piers chuckled, then shouted. "Gareth! WATCH OUT!"

The Lamia had raised her massive and was about to knock the Clan Light leader out cold but was stopped as a bullet crashed into her head, knocking her out. Alexander gasped. He had hit. Ivan grinned. "The Longbarrel never misses." he informed Alexander. "Ever."

Gareth had just knocked the the Emissary leader out and was about to rise up as the newly recuperated Gladiator swung the blade towards Gareth, knocking him out. Mia turned to the others. "I'll go heal him." she said. "Cover me." Alexander placed another bullet straight into the Gladiator, but it kept going...towards Mia! "MIA!" Ivan shouted. "WATCH OUT!"

The monsters, which had consisted of an Antlion, two Red Panthers, one Sprite and a Toughskin, had lumbered into plain view, and the Antlion scowled fiercely. Alianna sighed. “We’re outnumbered. Even if it IS by one,” Alianna pointed out. “What do you suppose we should do?”
Rizel shrugged. Rizel was a Sage, a user of magic of great potential. He wasn’t afraid of these monsters. Misericorde suddenly realized something. “Hey, Alianna, you HAVE learned any Blue Magic, haven’t you?”
Alianna shrugged. “I don’t think so…”
Alianna had come to the conclusion that she was a Blue Magician, just by after listening to Misericorde’s remark. Engel pointed his curved blade at the monsters. “Let’s just kill them already!”
Rizel made a long face. He knew that Engel only ever thought about being rash. Rizel wanted to think this through in order to kill them as efficiently as possible, with little injury. The two Red Panthers growled viciously, their cries filled with animosity. Misericorde said, “We have no time to think here. We have to fight them with everything we’ve got, and there’s no turning back!”
Everyone nodded and prepared to face off against the monsters. The Red Panther on the left side of the monster pack began its attack, it lunged forward and charged straight for Engel, who, as the panther rushed forward in frenzy, charged energy into his blade and fiercely made a vertical slash, releasing some force knocking the Red Panther back. Misericorde stepped backwards and began concentrating magical energies into her hands, before a blue light could be seen between her hands.

”Blizzard!”

Misericorde thrust her hands forward, and a barrage of icicles struck the already downed panther, knocking it out. “Why isn’t the…” Engel mused quietly. Suddenly, he saw the Judge just standing in the distance. Engel always found it a mystery how the Judges can enforce Law in every area of the region, save the Jagds. The second panther came into the fray, and Rizel charged magic power into his stave, and spun it once.

”Aero!”

A quick gust of energy encircled the other Panther, and the Toughskin which tried to assist, and within it a wind cutter quickly seared through them, leaving only the Toughskin alive. Alianna did not know any of the Blue Magic, but she decided to see what her weapon would do. Giving her all, she gave the Toughskin a fierce downward slash, and the Toughskin fell, knocked out.

”Hey, that was pretty good,” Engel said.
”Um, well… Thanks, Engel.” Alianna said.

Now the Sprite and the Antlion were left.

OOC: A bit short for me, but I don't want to progress this much further until I get an answer from my PM, as that will dictate my entire writing style for this RP.

IC: Patrick sat in bed, some bread and what he could only guess to be tea placed on a tray before him. He had already related his story as best he could to what these other creatures who looked like himself had brought in to speak with him, one they seemed to consider some sort of town elder.
“Hmm… I have to say that I have difficulty believing this, though the powers of nature and magic are indeed capable of drastic things.”

The elder leaned in close to Patrick and placed a paw on his head.
“I am more inclined to believe you have simply had an accident, and probably a very strange dream… After all, your capabilities as a sage are obviously great, and a mishap with your power would not be unheard of.”

The man turned Nu Mou choked back on his drink a little as his host continued to speak.
“Your look is also quite unique, it makes me wonder a few things… tell me, what do you use for your channeling? You were found with no weapons or artifacts, it was quite odd.”

“I-I’m sorry sir,” Patrick began to stutter out, “but I’ve never used a weapon in my life, and most of the artifacts my family finds are bought. I, um, I don’t even know how I’m a sage… I’m certainly not old enough to be one.”

The Elder Nu Mou removed his hand and sat back with a slight chuckle, “What does age have to do with being a sage? Perhaps magic use improves with it, but that’s from experience of life and knowledge. The energies that flow within you are definitely those of nature, and they flow quite freely I might add.”

The elder stood, or rather hopped from the stool he was sitting on and looked with interest at Patrick.
“If it’s all right with you, once you are feeling better, I would like you to come outside and spar with me. After all, whatever the reason may be, you seem to have no recollection of your powers, and if your past is as foggy as you say your combat prowess is, I don’t think you’ll find answers here. If, in the off chance what you say is true, you also won’t get back to your St. Ivalice from here. Oh, before I forget, you may call me Kalavan… I don’t believe you’ve mentioned your name yet.”

Patrick was taken off guard by the question and began answering with a mouthful of bread before realizing his speech was unintelligible and swallowed the partially chewed rye with a painful gulp.
“I’m sorry sir, where are my manners. I am Patrick Riley; thank you for the hospitality.”

Kavalan grinned, “You seem to be taking all of this rather well I must say.”

Patrick smiled as well and gave forth a soft laugh, “I suppose it’s just who I am. Never did like the prospects of worrying more than needed. After all, who likes a sour puss?”

Kavalan seemed a bit confused by the expression but shrugged it off, giving a slight nod of his head to the “boy” before closing the door. Patrick could hear the muffled sounds of the elder and a few others outside, but since he couldn’t make out the words, he gave little heed to what it could mean and instead went on to finish his meal, and thinking about what awaited him in the fight.

James had just struck down the Summoner when he saw the Gladiator, rushing with the blade first towards Mia, who was healing Gareth. James threw one of his claws at the Bangaa, but it missed. Alexander fired another bullet, but the Gladiator kept going. Suddenly, without thinking he took up a bullet from a small pouch in his neck and loaded the gun with it. The body worked on it own. "Gunmanship Super Technique; Extreme Pierce!" he shouted and fired the gun. The silver bullet hit the Gladiator in the well-armoured stomach but kept going. The Gladiator stopped and looked down at the stomach, noticing a big hole. Then, the bullet exploded and all turned black around Alexander.

He woke up in the Clan Light building again. Gareth and Mia were standing above him, both smiling relieved. "What...what happened?" he asked, with a soar throath. "You mean before or after you saved both mine and Mia's life here?" Gareth said, grinning. Alexander looked confused. "When you shot that Gladiator with that special technique of yours, and saved Mia, you saved me too, 'cause none of us here can heal anyone except Mia, so we'd be goners." Gareth explained. "Well, once we'd done that, the Ahriman came up from it's hiding and swooped at you, knocking you unconscious. James and Piers then killed it of course and you ended up here. " The Clan-leader grinned. "The Emissaries were loaded with valuable stuff. They had just robbed two other clans and was carrying their money with them. Over 50.000 gil. Plus various stuff like weapons, some we'll sell and rest divide on those of us here that can use them, and some strange unworked silver. We can't sell it, so we've told James to make something out of it."

Alexander nodded and fell back into the small pillow. Suddenly he remembered what he had done. That bullet he had loaded...he grabbed his neck and found the small pocket. Three bullets were there still. He took them up and both Gareth and Mia stared at them. "Mythril Bullets!" Mia exclaimed. Gareth grinned. "That explains a bit. But that's not Mythril, it's silver." A smile appeared. "I'll ask James to make some of these out of the silver we found. It was a big clump, so it'll become a few." Mia smiled. "Now, rest, Gunner-hero." she said. "Tomorrow, we'll go into Cyril."

The bangaa ran at Sora with great haste, snarling and bearing his claws as he did. Sora braced himself for the impact. Metal clashed with metal as the lance held itself against the claws of his opponent. Using his weight, Sora pushed the bangaa back. With a great swing, Sora slashed the bangaa's chest with the blade. A perfect hit.

Infuriated, the bangaa came back with a series of slashes at Sora. He could only endure the hits against his armour as slash after slash hit him. Although hurt, he was still in the fight. With the end of the lance, he whacked the bangaa in the face, forcing to stumble to the floor for a minute. Sora remembered that Dragoons had a trademark move called Jump. This was when they used their spear like a pole to allow to descent into the air before coming down again with great force on his opponent.

With a slight threat of fear, he gave a small run up and dug the blade deep into the earth and forced himself up. He got into the air with some effort. As he began to descend, he stretched his legs out full to make the impact more stronger. It worked perfectly. As his opponent began to get back up, he got rather nasty shock as he was kicked in the face by a falling dragoon. He was flung into a wall close by and made its outer layer crack. He groaned slightly.

"Urgh! I need a potion." he got out a small bottle of blue liquid and swallowed the contents. His cuts and bruises began to heal and an evil smile from his opponent that the fight was not over.

"This is not good." A loud whistle rung in their ears as the judge jumped down holding a red card.

"Violation detected! Violation of law 3763 detected: No use of items. You are here by setenced to prison for law breaking." The judge raised his sword and a blinding light surrounded the bangaa. When the light disappeared he was gone. The judge approached Sora.
"You are the winner of this engagement. Here is your prize money. Well done. The crook has been sentenced to prison over in Sprohm. I bid you farewell." He kicked the yellow bird he was riding on and it ran off into the distance.

Sora was filled with excitement. He had won the fight, although tired, he had won non the less. He couldn't believe it when he had jumped with his lance. He walked over to the lance and pulled it out of the ground. He hoped he could improve and still learn more about his dragoon skills. Thats when it hit him. He was still none the wiser to where he was or how he had got here. He sighed for a moment as he thought of back home. True he couldn't deny the excitement of the battle or the cool stuff he had but he still missed his family.

After he strapped the lance back on to his back, he began to walk off in search of answers to his predicament.

How... how can this be? Seru wondered as he walked quite carefully throughout the town that he seemed to be in. Finally it seemed, he had gotten over the initial shock that he had when he first learned of what he now looked as. However, he was still quite surprised at how he looked, and just wished he could get back home. Before he could give the idea more thought though, he heard a very loud whistle, followed by an even louder voice.

"You There!" The voice called out. At first, Seru thought it was talking to him, until he saw the fight that was ensuing between a pair of humans, and a quintet that was made up of all sorts of creatures that is.

"Under today's laws, it is strictly forbidden to cast any spells that are of the 'Holy' element. While I would have given you a Yellow card for this offense, you have commited the act more than teice during this battle! Thus, under the law of Ivalice, you are under arrest!" The voice seemed to say, although this time, Seru saw what the voice's owner looked like. He was a rather large man, clad in armor that covered his whole body. The armor was silver in color, and even had what looked like horns on its helmet. The steed that the man rode though, wasn't the traditional horse. It wasn't even a mammal! Instead, it was what looked like a cross between a chicken and a canary.

Seru decided to keep quiet for the moment, and decided to continue watching what would happen. From what he could see, the armored man on the chicken seemed to pull out some kind of red colored card, enlargened it, and in a flash of light, sent one of the five animal looking creatures away. With that, the armored man quickly leaped up onto a nearby building, and the battle seemed to continue.

One of the two humans, who seemed to be wearing a green colored bandana, quickly dashed over to what looked like a 'Moogle' from a Video game that Seru had once played. The human in green, once close to his target, seemed to in a hurry, swipe something from the Moogle. Finally, the human rushed back to his ally, but not before giving the Moogle a quick slash with his dagger.

This slash seemed to be the end of the Moogle though, for he had lost the gold plated armor that he had been previously wearing. The man in green gave a rather snide smile, and dashed behind his ally. "You know, you all are such weaklings...." He commented to the remaining three animal people.

It was then that one of the opponents that the two were facing decided to attack. This one was a rather slender looking, bunny humanoid. She was obviously a female, and was clothed in a purple colored outfit, and held a Rapier in her hand. Running forth, she held tight to her rapier, and gave it a rather hard thrust. The attack looked quite painful, for even though the green man's partner seemed to take most of the hit, he was seemed to be very hurt.

"Don't call us weak." The bunny woman stated simply.

It was here that the green man's partner, a man in white with what seemed to be a turban decided to take a turn. He armed himself with two rather large swords, and seemed to move in what seemed to be like a dance. He avoided the bunny woman's next strike with ease, and aimed at her throat with one of his blades. The woman quickly blocked with her rapier, colliding with the sword, and stopping it from its target. That however, didn't stop the white man's second sword attack though. This one seemed to glow of a rather strange bluish color, and with his now blue sword, the man thrusted his second sword through the woman's chest.

Seru watched with open eyes as the blue energy that covered the sword released itself all over the woman's body. This light quickly grew into a very large bluish orb, and seemed to fall into itself, KO-ing the bunny woman. Seru then watched as the two remaining animal people, who both happened to be what Seru were, run away hastily. Seru wondered why they were running, until he saw that the two men weren't where they were a second ago.

Looking around Seru began to wonder where the two men had gone. It wouldn't be too long before he found out though. The first thing that Seru noticed was that the man in armor had left his position on top of the building. However, Seru soon enough could feel a rather sharp pain racing through his body. When he turned around, Seru saw that the man in green had been behind him, and had inserted a strange item into his body. Soon enough, Seru found noting but darkness as he fell to the ground into a slumber....

Short, but it an transition post. Prolly will edit.

The Antlion screamed and roared, but it didn’t intimidate the four of them, and Alianna had a new-found confidence for fighting. The Sprite stood there in wait, floating in its position, remaining adamant in whatever it was doing. The Antlion began to charge at the four, and Engel pointed his blade at the Antlion, who did not stop despite this danger. When the Antlion was in range, Engel lunged forward, and a centrifugal force seemed to knock the creature a little bit, injuring it. The Antlion remained ready for its attack, and the Sprite was ready to cast a magical White Wind spell. All of a sudden, Alianna had an idea. She decided to see what would happen if, at the moment of the spell, Alianna would charge at the Antlion and attack. And that was exactly what she did.
Alianna ran forward, and the other three knew what she was going to do, and that there would be a side effect, even if it was a good side effect. In any case, Alianna’s saber clashed with the Antlion’s claws, and the Sprite had already casted the spell, enveloping the Antlion in white energy, however, part of the energy transferred from the clashing of its claws with Alianna’s saber, filling her with some sort of new-found knowledge.
”That was a smart thing, I didn’t know you could learn Blue Magic by that method,” Rizel commended. “But enough talk. Let’s finish these two creatures off!”
Engel gave a whoop as he ran towards the Antlion, hopped into the air and sliced it in half, something which could not normally be done. Engel was fuelled by the desire to fight, and thus gained more power. The Sprite was shocked and decided to run away, but she was soon shot down by a flurry of arrows.
”Is that…!” Engel said, as another Viera leaped down from a tree and walked toward the moogle. “It is you, Sierra! I missed you.” Engel said. Sierra, the Viera who had just arrived into the scene, patted Engel’s head. “I missed you too, Engel.”

Oh, and where is everybody? How come nobody's putting locations? People coukd get lost pretty easily like this.

I have a gift for everybody in this RP. Lemurian and I worked on a Map for everybody to use. It's a modification of one of the layouts from Gamefaqs, but made more realistic. You don't have to use it, but just note that I will be using this map.

And lastly, I'm sorry I'm so late, but I couldn't get online long enough to post until now.

En route to Cyril

I continued screaming my lungs out, when I realized I wasn't in my bed anymore. I was on a road, not far from a city. I stopped screaming, because a funny looking woman clamped my mouth shut. She had ears, fur all over, and was wearing a lot of red. A red fedora had and shirt, it looked like

"What's wrong with you? I don't see any monsters, so why are you screaming all of a sudden? Everybody in town will know we're coming a mile away." She said to me, as I just stared open mouthed at her after removing her hand from it.

"Excuse me, but who are you and what are you doing here?" I asked, very puzzled all of a sudden.

"Honestly, did that scream do something to your brain? I'm your mother!" She asked, suddenly putting her hands on her hips and looking at me angrilly.

Now that I got a good look at her, she seemed strangely familiar, like I'd seen her before. Either way, I was shocked at that particular moment

"My mother? My mother doesn't look like you, and she certainly doesn't have fur and long ears. And you still haven't answered my other question. What the heck are you doing here, and what am I doing here?" I asked, leaving my mouth open again and just staring in disbelief.

"Well, I don't really know either. The last thing I remember was I was going to bed, but now it feels like it was a daydream. I know we were going to Cyril to buy you a new Robe, and maybe to get some fast food too." She said, straighening up and putting her hand to her head in thought.

"Cyril? I'm not familaiar with that place. What country are we in, anyway?" I asked her, wondering if maybe I had gone to a different planet, instead.

"I'm not entirely sure how I know this, but we're in the land of Ivalice. Going from Muscadet to Cyril takes a long time by foot." She contnued explaining to me.

Clearly she was a bit puzzled too, but was hiding it. My mopther had become something else, and we were in a country that was named after our home town. Things were certainly strange. I suddenly noticed that my head was a bit heavier than usual. I felt my head, and realized that besides my usual hair, I had the same ears that my mother had. Stranger still, I had fur too. I also wore clothes that were entirely new to me. As I felt myself over, I felt something stick-like was sitting in a case on my back, which had a belt going around my waist to keep it there. I drew out what looked like a weirdly shaped cane with an eagle on it. All this as we walked silently onward.

"Mother, if that's who you really are, what is this stick and why do I have it?" I asked, again very puzzled with this world.

"What's wrong iwth you? Did you lose your memory in that scream, or something?" She asked, stopping and again putting her hands to her hips.

"Uh.....yea. That's it. I saw somehting scary with fangs that made me scream and forget everything. So, what is this and come to think of it, why do we look like this?" I asked her, still playing with the stick in my hands.

"Strange. I've never heard of a monster that makes people lose their memory. I didn't see anything." She said, eyeing me in that same stance, unmoving.

"Uh.....it ran away right afterwards. All I really saw as a shadow. Seriously, just explain all this, or I fear I'm gonna lose my mind." I said, sitting down on a nearby rock.

"Well, some things are still fuzzy for me too, but you're a Viera Summoner, able to call godlike creatures for help. That staff is the Staff of Hope. Right now, I just hope you will remember as time goes on. This memory loss better not be permanent. I liked better you before you started acting weird like this, Sophie." She said, crying a little and sitting down the rock next to me.

Okay, it seemed my name hadn't changed without me knowing it. But still, the other stuff she said helped. I felt sorry for her, since it seemed she really was my mother, in this twisted mixed up dream. I hugged her.

"Just stop crying will you? You're not the one who lost her memory. Let's just go on. Maybe it will come to me later." I said, getting up and starting to walk again.

She brightened up and hugged me back. We continued walking, and soon we were coming to the gates of a big city. A man at the gate stopped us. He looked normal nough, unlike the two of us. He was wearing armor, and a helmet, though.

"Halt Viera! Show your ID." He said in a gruff voice at us, as he pulled out a sword and pointed it at us.

My mother pointed to the little bag on my belt, and I opened it. After searching through it for a bit, and feeling some objects I didn't recognize, I pulled out what looked like a piece of paper with my name on it and othe rinformation. My mom pulled out a similr paper from one of her pockets too. We handed the papers to him.

After looking at the papers for a bit, he handed them back to us and said, "Be careful when going on the streets. There was an engagement here recently, so people are urged to be cautious." He then pointed to a weird looking person on the street, and then continued. "If you want to know more, then ask him. He was the one who won it when the Judge took his oppoent away."

There were a few things in what he said I didn't understand, but I decided I'd find out about them later. My first priority was to maybe meet a local and gather some information.

We ran after him and I spoke, "Excuse me, the guard at the gate said there was something called an 'engagement' here, and you were involved. I was hoping you could explain it to me better."

Leaving Jagd Dorsa

"Now then," Gareth said. "We should be heading for Lutia Pass. Through there is the shortest way to both Sphrom and Cyril. But only Cyril interests us." Alexander nodded and made sure the leather-bag on his back was still there. "Chances are we'll meet Isaac on the way." Gareth said as they walked out from the dark streets of the Jagd Dorsa and onto the more grassy plain that was before the mountains. "That's the Hunter I told you 'bout." Gareth continued. "He went to take a mission to grab us some food 15 days ago. Should be heading back soon." Alexander nodded and the Clan kept walking.

After a half-an-hour of easy walking over the more and more hilly terrain, the mountains forming the Lutia Pass coming nearer and nearer. The Clan followed a much-used path through the Pass, keeping good speed. Suddenly, James shouted out. "Panthers!" he shouted. "Panthers behind us!" All swirled around to see a pack of red Panthers coming behind them. Alexander readied his gun. "Mia, stay with Alexander while we others get into position for an assault." Gareth commanded. "Alexander, kill as many as possible." Both Alexander and Mia nodded. The other Clan-members climbed up in the mountainsides around them. Alex loaded and readied his gun. Then, the first Panther got into range. Alexander fired two shots and the Panther fell dead. Now, three more Panthers came in one pack. Alexander holstered the Longbarrel and instead readied the Outsider. James had said that it was strong and with long range and all that, but it didn't hit as good as the Longbarrel. For these, he needed loading speed. He loaded five bullets in the chamber and fired three shots, one for each. Two of them fell, but one was still standing. Now another three appeared behind the first one. "CHARGE!" Gareth commanded and the Clan attacked from all sides. In few seconds, the Panthers were dead after the suprise attack. A howl was heard behind them. "Come," Gareth said. "We're not safe yet. Cyril isn't that far from here." And so they ran.

Clan Light reached Cyril in the afternoon. After certain problems at the gate, because Gareth had to argue his way in, they soon stood in a bustling street. Nu Mous, Vieras and Humans were everywhere. Gareth nodded for himself before finding the list they had wrote down in the Jagd. "Okay, we have to split up. When all have finished their shopping, we'll meet at the Prancing Chocobo. James, you go look for the supplies you need. Here's your share." He threw a bag of money to the Gadgeteer, who disappeared. "Mia, Piers, magic's still your field. Find supplies of healing items we need. Here's the money for that." They went too. "Ivan, get more supplies of Catnip and Chocobo fodder. Use the rest on something useful." The Moogle disappeared into the crowd. "Meanwhile, you and I Alexander will go looking for weapons for the lot and ammo for you." Alexander nodded and followed the Ninja through the town.

OIC: Nice map. I used something like that when I was putting down the locations so I could get the best treasure hunt items. It seems most of you are hooking up with gils. I plan (If possible) to travel by myself unless I run into you guys for a mission or something. Bron, I can't say I've gotten a message from you recently. When did you send it? My other point is what is your motives in this world? Mine will be of course to get back home and restore the world the way it was. (This will lead to me going through destroying the five crystals. Will you be an ally or an enemy?) I like your posts as well so far guys, keep it up!

Location: Cyril

A battered looking moogle was held against the wall as an angry Sora began to ask him some questions. The little thief had tried to steal his money (or gil as they called it round here) and this lead to him running for six blocks and getting into an engagement with the pest. He saw this a good chance to find out more about where he was.

"Please don't hurt me more than you already have! kupo!" pleaded the thief. Sora withdrew his lance and held it up to the moogles neck.

"Thisss iss more than you deserve you ruffian. Now I need you to answer a few questions for me. If you do, I'll let you go."

"Ok, ok, ok just please keep that blade away from me!"

"Firstly, whats the name of this place?"

"You mean the town kupo? Its called Cyril. Why?"

"None of your business moogle!" Hmmm Cyril? That didn't ring a bell. He hadn't heard of any town or village close to St Ivalice with that name and he had lived there all his life. Was he in another country? "Ok then. Question Two: Whatsss the name of thiss country, state or wherever this is?"

"This is the land of Ivalice, ruled by the royal family kupo." squealed the thief.

"Ivalice? A country? Somethingss wrong." He remembered his captive and glared at him so not to let the little moogle gain his confidence back. "Finally question three: Can you tell me a good place to stay the night?"

"Theres a pub near hear called the Ravens Claw. You can get a room there. Now please let me go kupo!" Feeling slightly sorry for the snivelling wreck before him, he let his clawed hand let go of the thief.

"Fine you can go now but should I ever catch you trying to steal my possessionsss again, you be sorry." The frightened moogle nodded and quickly ran off. Sora was still confused. His "talk" with the moogle had only lead him to ask more questions. How could St Ivalice be a country? Where were all these strange species coming from? When did St Ivalice have a royal family? It made his head spin. At the moment all he could gather was that he had been transported into some strange world where St Ivalice had been turned up sidedown. He sighed and looked again at his clawed hands. Would he ever get changed back. Would he ever see the real world again?

"Bah! Too many questionss. I need to rest on thiss."

"Excuse me?" said a voice from behind. Without thinking, he withdrew his lance and prepared himself to attack. Instead it was a Viera about the same age as him.She wore a green cape and some white robes and had a horn on top of her head. She looked pretty scared of the lance.

"I-I'm-" he put his lance back on his back and bowed to her. "Forgive for my actions before. I haven't exactly met anyone nice today." he told her. She nodded with a look of relief on her face.

"Sorry for that sir but the guard at the gate said there was something called an 'engagement' here, and you were involved. I was hoping you could explain it to me better." she asked.

"Sure. But don't call me sir. The names Sora."
"I'm Sophie." They shook hands as a sign of peace. As they shook hands he couldn't help but notice how beautiful her eyes looked. They showed grace and innocence behind them. Her flowing hair was also lovely as well. Even though she looked like a rabbit, it didn't seem to bother him. In fact she seemed sweet. (What was he thinking! He wasn't getting a cru- was he?)
"Erm about them engagements Sora?" she asked again. Sora woke from his day dreaming.

"Uh yeah sure. Well an engagement is simply a battle. A judge enforces the battle these battles with laws. If you break a law you go to a prison like one of my opponents did. The first one to go down is the winner."

"Wow. And you've won in these?"
"Sure have. Lets just say I'm not used this at the moment but I'm going to get better thats for sure." he told her, slamming his gauntlets together to show her he was serious.

"You must be strong to have won." she joked. Inside his helmet, his yellow skin had gone bright red.
"Well I -
