Final Fantasy Crystal Cronicles

Anybody play the game? I own it and I'm loving it. I am on the seventh year on single player mode. And I am on the fifth or sixth year on multi player mode. And for some reason I think that multi player is slightly harder then single player. But that's just me. I am a Yuke on multi player and a Lilty on single player. I actually like the Lilty the most. After all I am an all out attacker.

Yeah I got it on release despite disliking all previous FF games (a friend convinced me to pick up a copy) and at first I didn’t like it. Still to this day I do not understand how Square Enix thought lumbering a chalice around in multiplayer would add to the experience. It created a snail paced and limited game, which I did not enjoy at all. Single player was OK, but I soon got bored.

However after over a year of FF sitting in a cupboard I decided to give it another go and it was great. Nothing was different, but for some reason I felt much more involved. The final battle(s) really redeemed CC in my eyes, they struck a perfect balance of difficulty and created the perfect ‘final battle’ atmosphere. Even being forced to replay levels didn’t bother me the second time. The whole game was fun (apart from multiplayer) and I'm looking forward to the Revolution/DS versions, which will no doubt build on a good start.

They are going to make one for the DS? And the Revolution? I didn't know that. Well when it does come out for the DS I am so going to get it. Oh,and what do I do when I just beat the Antlion? I am on the seventh year and I don't know what to do.

I hired it once. I was using a guide, and I think I got the Holy Element and then kept dying on the second last level or something. I'll probably buy it for the DS when it comes out.

Yeah both confirmed a long time ago, but there are no details or images yet.

Hmm I'm not 100% sure. It was almost a year ago, but once you've been to the desert you can obtain a special element in your chalice (for the final boss). Don't go to the final boss yet though. Try re-playing many of the levels to gain better equipment and a higher level. www.gamefaqs.com has information if you're really stuck.

I don't get the point in just doing a damn port of the game. Why not just make an entirely new game?

I have the game but it is owned by my younger brother. My favourite race are the Selkies. On my single player file, I am up to year 25, I always overtrain myself but have completed the game once. Multiplayer is great IMO despite what over people may think but when I play it with both my brothers it often gets extremely hard when we are fighting 5 enemies at once.

It is quite short compared with the other games but it is somewhat redeemed by the multiplayer function which makes it a lot of fun.

Okay, what is the mystery element? I need it to clear the final Miasma Field.

The Holy element, you find it in the Lynari Desert after solving a puzzle which involves hitting miscellaneous objects with different magics in a certain order but I cannot remember right now.

^ No problem. The explanation I gave was a bit vague because I could not remember but now I think I can recall.

To get the Holy element you need to solve a puzzle in the Lynari Desert. You'll need to find the magicks Fire, Blizzard, Thunder and Life then you follow these five steps:

  1. In the first area, go to the north and hit the tallest of the cactus with a Thunder spell.
  2. In the northeast of the first area, you'll see a tent, hit it with Gravity.
  3. Go to the east of the first map, near the whirlpool that transports you to the second area and hit the mushroom-shaped rock with a Fire spell.
  4. Near the cactus mentioned in the first step, look for three rocks and hit them all with Blizzard, smallest being hit first.
  5. Near the entrance, a glowing flower will appear, hit it with the Holy spell to reveal the 'Unknown' element hotspot, place your chalice on it and you will have the Holy element.

Exit the desert and you'll have to start from square one, but once the hotspot has been revealed, it will always be there plus you can just use it to teleport out of the level without having to fight the Antlion.

'Tis Gurdy's poem (at least, the short version) for obtaining the mystery element.

This has to be one of my favorite games ever. I'm on year 20-something, and I play as the first variation Selkie male. I've beat Raem about three times now, and I'm working on getting a Desert Fang and another Wind Crystal so I can make the Dreamcatcher (getting crafting components from Bonuses is annoying...). Does anyone know what the Dreamcatcher's Focus Attack looks like? I've been really curious about it.

You mean De Nam? He gets killed in Conall Curach. After you get his final letter you can get an item there called the Worn Bandanna, which was his. I don't know if it has any use.

Because Nintendo likes money, and they know people will buy it.
