Yeah I got it on release despite disliking all previous FF games (a friend convinced me to pick up a copy) and at first I didn’t like it. Still to this day I do not understand how Square Enix thought lumbering a chalice around in multiplayer would add to the experience. It created a snail paced and limited game, which I did not enjoy at all. Single player was OK, but I soon got bored.
However after over a year of FF sitting in a cupboard I decided to give it another go and it was great. Nothing was different, but for some reason I felt much more involved. The final battle(s) really redeemed CC in my eyes, they struck a perfect balance of difficulty and created the perfect ‘final battle’ atmosphere. Even being forced to replay levels didn’t bother me the second time. The whole game was fun (apart from multiplayer) and I'm looking forward to the Revolution/DS versions, which will no doubt build on a good start.
