• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

I don't have time to slog through games any more, so less difficult is fine for me.

I can't talk about the other versions of the game, but this version is the shortest FF game I've played so far. Took me around 20 hours, which is definitely short for a main Final Fantasy game. I didn't play The After Years though, but I heard that was trash anyway.

When it comes to RPGs story is what I'm concerned with, length and difficulty don't matter to me.

I personally enjoyed both Interlude and The After Years, I felt like it was a just conclusion to Cecil's tale. I feel the main reason why people didn't like The After Years was because of the episodic chapters and the changes in the battle mechanics. I personally enjoyed how the cycles of the moon and the active time battle combined to make a pretty interesting combat system. Sure it had a steep learning curve but that's why I enjoyed The After Years, because of the difficulty. The story isn't as strong as the one with the main game but it closes this chapter in Final Fantasy quite nicely.

I don't know, it just might be because I'm biased towards Final Fantasy IV, I personally think it's the best and it is my favorite in the series.

This might be a little bit late, but I just finished up Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions for the Vita (via PSN). I played FFTA2 a few years ago, so it's hard to say which one is better for me. But, I liked playing FFT...after awhile. At the very beginning, I had a lot of trouble and almost gave up on it, but I stuck through and enjoyed the rest of it. (Dropped my entire team before the final boss and raised a new one. Was I the only one who used the robot?)

We have arrived.

Just in the mail this morning--can't wait to try it out. Does say on the back of the box that original model PSPs can't use the multiplayer, but I don't thank that matters too much for me.

The wonders of a region-locked system! Shame the PSP was already dead by 2010 (the last big games I could think of being BbS and Dissidia 012 and MGS Peace Walker). I'll just have to use remote-play with Type-0 HD and pretend the U.S. actually got a PSP localization, and that the Vita is magically upscaling the game.

Region lock has nothing to do with it-- it plays on my domestic PSP just fine. It's more of a hardware limitation of 1000-series models. Regardless, most of its online functionality (regarding SEM promotions) is pretty much dead anyway because that was years ago.

In other news, let's get to some Theatrhythm and XV.
* Round three of TFFCC download contents is out today. Cloud II is the new character, and the music selection this time around includes the special tracks from Romancing SaGa
* Hajime Tabata is apparently amused by recent memes cisrculating the 'net feturing Noctis and crew in their fancy car that, during the recent Type-0 HD Talk Show, that he released three official renders for people to do what they like with them.

Oops! I meant region-FREE system, not region-LOCKED. Only Nintendo is doing region-locked systems nowadays.

He should have picked different ones. The second one with the gang looking at the herd was already distributed by a NeoGAF member (which is where the idea of placing Videogame images in real life came from) some time ago. The cutout looked just as nice too.

Been playing the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII since I got it, and reached Odin.

Three tries.

Did you play the original at all? I'm curious to know if there's any actual differences.

I'm figuring I'm about halfway through Final Fantasy I at this point, got myself the airship and did the class change.

From what I've read, it's just a port of the PS3 version. Was locked at 720p, but someone unlocked it, so you can do 1080p60FPS.

Yeah it's the same mod as the Dark Souls mod, so you can go well beyond 1080p or 60fps as long as your machine can handle it.

I think the modder's name was Durata or something like that. Luminous Engine is a freaking failure of an engine. They already replaced it with UE4 for KHIII. I can also see FFXV ditching Luminous and going UE4, which gives both games a high chance of coming to PC. And with Japan's mind bogglingly fast internet, and consoles not doing good there anymore, they'll let you stream FFXV and KHIII on your iPad.

The FFXIV FanFes is going on in Las Vegas right now. (I'm envious of anyone that's there right now, btw.)

Anyway, on to the news: the expansion was officially announced today as Heavensward (蒼天のイシュガルド).

Trailer looks cool, shame the game doesn't look that good.

I'm about to resubscribe to XIV, what server are those that play it here on?
Proud Gilgameshian here. I was there for beta, stayed because it morphed into one of the game's unofficial roleplay servers.
