Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

no one made a thread for this so I wanted to. the movie was awsome, the dubbing sucked but it was amazing. a bit of humor to it. it was a good movie all together. discuss if you have seen it or whatever

Warning: the movie makes absolutely NO effort to try to explain the world of FF7 to newbies. It assumes you've played the game and already know who all the characters are, so this may not be the best way for newcomers to jump into the "FF7 World."

Where's my FF6 movie, dammit?

Maybe a link to Wikipedia? o.o

Umm, I prefered the Japanese version to the English Version. I knew I shouldn't have bothered watchin the English, the voice acting was a real disapointment.

And why the feck did Nanaki have just one line!? ;-;

*Has watched the Japanese version waaay before the release of the English...*

I've never seen the dub but as far as the action scenes go then this movie was phenomenal, incredible CGI and cool music made it an exhilerating film, as far as the story goes.....well lets just oggle the animation shall we.

well,...ANYTHING new FF6 related would be nice...I don´t see why the lame Final Fantasy Anime was made..I would have prefered a FF6 anime...it HAS the best characters after all.

but, AC was good as well, the characters were never OoC if you ask me, I had doubted with that. The whole movie was a very nice suprise.

Gotta love those Turks-humor parts ^^

Is the dub really bad/average? I haven´t seen it yet

The dub wasn't at all as good as the original Japanese version because of the cast for it. Allot of the voices were really disappointing and could easily distract you from the movie and the fight scenes. Allot of the script was changed for the dub as well, which disappointed allot of fans because the Japanese was really 'in character'. And of course we were also deprived of the Last Order anime that came with the Japanese release.

In all the film was great if you consider the graphics and quality, but the dub was a little bit of a let down because of the voice actors, but in all I found it to be equally as good if you can get use to the voices, but some parts are really disappointing.

It really does depend on your taste. If you have only seen the Japanese version, then I personally suggest you ignore the dub and stick to the Japanese.

And why the feck did Nanaki have just one line!? ;-;.

XD I was ranting about that for a month after it first came out, as Nanaki is my favorite character, and he got shafted. (Granted, a lot of characters got shafted; but not as much as Nanaki.)

I'll echo everyone's statements: the original Japanese version is better than the English dub. Heck, if they're going to take *counts fingers* Eight months after the first proposed release date, they had better make those eight months count. For me, they didn't.

They changed a lot of the stuff. I realize sometimes they were trying to make it fit with t he way the character's mouths moved to make it seem more natural.. (it still seemed odd to me). But some things they did seemed just plain stupid.

For instance, Reno. o.o Why the heck did they cut out his 'yo'. That, in my opinion, damaged his character personality there. I adored it, and put the spark in his dialogue. And when Tifa was on the phone, the 'yo' is how we knew who the heck she was talking to.

Some of the dialogue was also... kind of cheesy in that respect. For instance "Dilly Dally, Shilly Shalley."

... I hate that line. It's so completely... stupid.. 0_o I would have just preferred "wandering wandering wandering..." or something.

The voice actors were, in general, pretty bad. Oh, they weren't "OHMYGOSHPLUGYOUREARS!" sort of bad, but they tended to be the kind that lacked emotion. (And they gave Cait Sith an Irish Accent. What's with that? XDD) I did enjoy Cids and Nanaki's though.. though with their small amount of lines, I guess I can't really say much. Sephiroth's and Vincent's weren't bad either, I suppose. But yeah, pretty bad job, when you consider that they actually had the money to put into it. I mean, they knew the had business in that movie, and knew they would make money with it.

Do a good job, make fans want to buy their future stuff... arg.

Of course, the graphics and stuff were to notch, and I suppose it's worth buying the DVD, just because it's there and they have the Japanese dub with subtitles. xDXDXD

Actually he's Scottish!
It is meant to be 'cus his name is based on Celtic Lore.-wikipedia

The voice acting wasn't that bad! At least we didn't have voices of american pop stars this time- like in Kingdom Hearts!-I still haven't got over Lance Bass from N'Sync being Sephiroth! I thought the voices suited the characters but I guess there was always gonna be a problem giving voices to old characters when fans would have already built up their own ideas.-no one is gonna complain about the voices for the new FF12 are they?-they will just accept them.

I thought Advent Children was brilliant! Graphics, story, fights etc.
Of course you need knowlege of FF7 to understand-its sorta the piont-it was made for fans.

But yes Red/Nanaki shoul have had more lines!-I read it is because he is difficult/expensive to animate-(mostly because of his fur).-same reason as to why Cait's moogle was not included. The animators found it too difficult to have both!-Wikipedia(again!)

I repeat-I thought it was brilliant!

I'll probably watch it sometime or another. Not really interested in Advent Children. Didn't care much for Final Fantasy VII. Overhyped, in my opinion. Same goes for the movie. :s

What could really use a CG movie is a retelling of Final Fantasy IX. >_>

Granted that Nanaki was a hard character to animate, but then they could have given him lines in the scenes he was in, such as the battle against Bahamut Sin (shin) as well as the Aeriship when Cloud was facing off against Kadaj. It was really disapointing that they only gave him one line. Cait had more lines than him, and he was in every scene that Nanaki was in, there really was no excuse for that.

I haven't seen advent children, but I saw the omnislash part in virgin (uk) because they had it playing on a screen. My mate who has the film told me about it just before we saw it on the screen as well.

I guess Nanaki could have a few more lines. I agree with ya all but I have just one question to ask. Is Final fantasy VII Advent Children also released in France, Spain and in Portugal cuz some of my other friends have been looking for them there in those places from where they live.

Darn tootin' Ed, IX was ten times the game VII was.

First time through I hated the movie because the graphics were so realistic and ugly that it was hard to understand what was going on with the blasted camera angles and junk, that and the dub cast never spoke up loud enough. Second time through the film was much better. Holy crap, I NEVER knew that Steven Burton--or Cloud--was playing this role. I see him all the time on General Hospital, who would have thought a soap start would do Animé...(No, I'm not gay, I get on the internet in the living room when my mom is watching GH so bug of ye!)

Steve was also pretty good too, but I espicially liked Steve Staley and his girly man voice as Kadaj and George Newbern as Septhoroth...

My BestBuy was sold out so I had to go to that blasted Suncoast...

The only things I was happy about is being able to hear my precious "One Winged Angel" and got to see a steroid-pumped Sephiroth. I'll stick with the Japanese version thank you.

i liked it, the dilly dally thing was annoying i loved the part: [SPOIL]when the chick was fighting that guy in the abandoned church and she throws him down and the ff victory theme goes off and its his ringtone![/SPOIL] that was awsome

There goes that idea to spend the weekend.
Oh well. Then again, the only reason I have interest in this is Sephiroth's theme, and to see why everyone thinks the guy is all that.

Soap Operas don't necessarily make you gay.
Debatably, they can make you straight, because the girls on it are generally superhot, and the script's not horrendous. Confusing, but not horrendous.

I didn't really find anything wrong with the dub (ok, SOME), probably because the Japanese dub turned me off. *shields himself* What? It's as overrated as the game is. << That counts any other Japanese dub that are referred as "perfect." But, one thing though, is the lip synch. They "altered" the dialouge, and people gripe about it because they changed it, while it retained its same meaning. Sheesh.

Anyway, the movie was enjoyable at best, but the story and plot was...meh. I especially liked how Cloud's, Kadaj's, Reno's, and Loz's voices were handled in the dub. The voice acting is impressive...but sometimes they strain and otaku/fans of the original won't like how the voices SOUND (capitalized on difference of acting vs sound of a voice).

Really. Is the Japanese cast better or "perfect?" No. It's not. It has its own flaws. << Like most of the voices don't express emotion while talking...THEY SHOUT or just talk...and talk...and talk. Boring. -_- But, Rufus' and Kadaj's were good here.

Am I saying that the English cast is better? It sure isn't.

Meh...what do I know? I no Final Fantasy fan. :p

What could really use a CG movie is a retelling of Final Fantasy IX. >_>
*silent nod* Yep. They really should...because story beats action any day.
