Fire Blast vs. Blast Burn

I know that Flamethrower is the overall favorite Fire move by most people, but out of these two fire moves, which is better?

I definately prefer Fire Blast. This is the perfect move for Charizard. In fact, I prefer Fire Blast over Flamethrower.

Both moves suck horribly, but Blast Burn is more useless by far. It's got awful accuracy, awful PP, an awful side-effect, and only 2 Pokemon learn it: only one of which comes close to being decent.
Fire Blast is the same, minus the last two points. If you use either moves on you're Charizard, then may I suggest therapy?

I ABSOLUTELY hate both moves. I hate them so much I would get a Shuckle and make my Shuckle fart on Fire Blast and Blast Burn until they die. Fire Blast is available to far more Pokemon than Blast Burn. Only 4 Pokemon learn Blast Burn (Charizard, Cyndaquil, Quilava and Typhlosion.) I can understand people liking Thunder, Hydro Pump and Frenzy Plant. (Thunder has 10PP rather than 5, 30% chance of paralysis and 100% accuracy in rain (even though Thunderdancing does not work), Hydro Pump, has 80 accuracy opposed to 70 like Thunder, Fire Blast, Blizzard, etc., powers up in rain and it is used in double battling because Surf is rather useless and Frenzy Plant is good on Meganium and Venusaur because they do not have many good grass moves, Frenzy Plant does more than 2 Hidden Power Grass anyway and Venusaur and Meganium can survive and heal themselves if they take damage on the recharging turn (or they could put their opponents to sleep while they use frenzy plant)). I do not suggest any of those moves (or Charizard he is TERRIBLE (Shuckle is also terrible but he is a favorite of mine for other reasons)). Do NOT use them. (Use Flamethrower and use Charizard to dragonthrow if you desperately want to use him.)

No they don't both suck, my little 7 year old brother beat the whole league with a level 65 charizard with Sunny day and fireblast combo, however I do prefer Flamethrower much more.

It seems only people who like the pokemon shuckle think they suck. Fire Blast has saved me in net battle, and in-game, so don't diss it.

I used to love Fire Blast back in R/B/Y, and I never liked Blast Burn. I find Flamethrower much more effective. I'd take Flamethrower over Fire Blast and Blast Burn, any day.

And if you think beating the league is a big accomplishment (with fireblast in your brother's case), just remember that your battling against mindless computer controlled AI. Heck, I beat the League with nuttin' but a Lv sixtysomething Char with FLAMETHROWER (and a ummm... Farfetch'd...).

Now that I've finished jabbering mindlessly about junk no one cares about, I'd like to say that Blast Burn has an awsome name. Really rolls off your tongue, doesn't it? Say it with me: blaaast buuuurn.

right, anyway, my point is, The move Fire Blast isn't useless, its like saying Thunder/Megahorn/Meteor Mash/Hydro Pump is useless. They're not, they usually provide the extra bit of juice to kill a pokemon. The same as how If you use a salamence's Flame thrower on Skarmory twice, its not guaranteed 2hko, especially if skarm has sp. defence evs, where as Fire Blast guarantees it.

Fire Blast can be kinda useful actually. :/ for competitive battles, sometimes Flamethrower doesn't have enough zip. (and some Pokemon can't learn Over Heat)

Blast Burn is the worst Fire attack imo. ._.;;;; Just MISSING that turn just sucks.

I voted for Blast Burn b/c it sounds cool..I've never seen it, but statwise it's not good...Fire Blast is better attack wise...but Blast Burn can be good too..if it hits.

I picked Blast Burn. Why? It has better Accuracy and power. Only bad pp and effect. You can raise the pp with PP-up and you use Blast Burn as a finishing move and switch out.

Blast burn stinks. Fire Blast rules. Like SapphireL said FB provies that extra power fathyer than use the weaker flamethrower. Besides, most fire pokemon have no survivability so they need FB for power rather than ft.

Fire Blast is an awesome move, don't deny it. While Flamethrower is certainly better than it, Fire Blast offers the little extra kick some Pokemon the chance to fend off those nasty Steel types. Its 5 PP is a killer, though.

Fire Blast. By miles. Blast Burn is just overkill, and has the most godawful drawback a Move can have. And seeing how it's limited to two Pokémon with no lastability whatsoever...

Fire Blast is also the best of the 120 Elemental Moves that doesn't needs a combo of sorts (Sunny Day-Solarbeam for starters.).

With Raindance surf does not have the same average in a double battle as it does in a single battle (per Pokemon).

Fire Blast saved you on Netbattle! lol (It could be useful in some situation but it is so situational that it is not worth using.) And Flamethrower has saved me many times on netbattle too.

Your 7 year-old brother must have needed a lot of PP UPs. And the gameboy games are so easy that people could easily beat the Elite 4 with Fire Spin.

Thunder, Megahorn, Meteor Mash and Hydro Pump are all okay (althouh i would not reccomend them. Blizzard is completely useless though. I have explained why Thunder, Megahorn, Meteor Mash and Hydro Pump>Fire balst and Blizzard and why Frenzy Plant>Hydro Cannon>BlastBurn in my first post. (Although the reason frenzy plant is better is because of the Pokemon that learn it).
