Treehouse is generally good when they localized other games from other franchises in the past like Zelda so it’s not like their track record has been mostly terrible. Fates was badly handled with the supports and typos but unless they pull another three-version deal out of their behinds, TH shouldn’t suffer that badly like before imo.

Fates was good with supports.

The story, though? That was the trainwreck.

Same gender supports usually were okay, but if the two could get married the support usually railroaded itself into "Hey here's my weird quirk, I like your weird quirk, lets get married!"

Sometimes less is more.

Fates supports had their really bad ones though. Supports like Soleil's Japanese Forrest one, Camilla's Arthur one, and the majority of Peri's were just awful and really make you dislike one or both of the characters involved.

Overall, Fates had some very high notes, but also some really terrible low ones.

I am who I am...because of them.
I don't get why do people still blame Treehouse for the writing of Fates beyond "we need a scapegoat." There's only so much that localization can fix, especially with the base product they were working with. While they don't have the best track record with other games (FE7 had several mistranslated dialogue and character endings, FE10 lost the extended script), they did make actual improvements to the games they localized. The removal of FE9's Maniac Mode, the Dawn Brigade being buffed in FE10 along with a number of mechanical changes for the better, a better excuse for the return of a villain in the past game, and the removal of Fates face rubbing. A "feature" that was negatively received by anyone who wasn't trying to be contrarian.

Also, I would say every Peri support except with Laslow is trash. Same goes for Soleil, especially her Ophelia support, which doesnt get criticized enough. I will say that I enjoyed Fates' supports more than Awakening's though.

I've been playing FE3 the past week and am finally getting around to finishing it in full; the last playthrough I did was wiped out after an accidental nudge on the cartridge as I was moving the console. Was on chapter 13 at the time.

Japan likes this game quite a lot, and I can see why. Very solid game front to back, the starsphere shards essentially enable you to use and customize any unit you want to use until they're combined, and the plot is straightforward with some slight intrigue into the lore. Dunno why Marth wants to hold that Binding Shield in his legendary Heroes alt, clearly the damn thing should be left alone.

**** Dragons though. Take the endgame Dragon boss from Blazing Blade, and just multiply him by 5 dozen or so, each of them with his ability to ignore defense stats to produce flat damage attacks, and have them all move. That's midgame and endgame, and it's nuts. If you don't have a mage with 21+ HP with at least 10 attack, or you didn't find the secret shop with Dragon Killers, you are completely screwed.

Nice! I have not played FE3, but I played the remake on Nintendo DS and it's one of my favorite FE games.

Never forget FE12 Medeus with his 99 HP / 40 Str / 30 Spe / 42 Def / 32 Res on Lunatic which Marth can't ever OHKO with a Falchion crit.

Still a more fair fight than Chapter 20x though.

12 is up there with 7 for difficulty balance. Your normal playthrough will mostly be fine, but if you want to do the harder stuff you really have to prepare for it.

Because who doesn't love desert chapters with fog of war.

I haven't played Fire Emblem Warriors in a while so is the DLC worth buying?
Depends on what you want out of it. I thought all the new history mode maps were great and the new characters (all...4 of them...) were fun to play with. The supports were fantastic.
Is there anything in particular you're interested in, I can try to give more details on if you'd find it worth it to get any of them.

Guess I'm wondering if those DLC levels offer anything different in terms of variety.
I'd be interested in the new new characters but worry the missions are of the same variety in the base game and don't offer anything new.

One of the biggest things I've seen in all Warriors games is some enemies are so hard to defeat. thir health and defense points are so massive it becomes tedious and no longer fun to play.

Each DLC pack has new missions into their respective history mode maps, some of which carry forward. A lot of the old ones are still there, but the new ones are pretty comon. Things like search & rescue prisoners in keeps, escort an allied unit to recruit other units, things like that. There's also a few maps with reinforcements with effective weaponry though those are sadly pretty rare.

After a certain point I didn't really have any issues with dealing with enemies....the power is very much in your court the entire time.

Thanks for the feedback, think I'll start the main story over and see if I want to buy the DLC afterwards.

Fates artbook has gone from "passively mentioned that he's hoping to finish by the end of the year" to "announced"

The recent Takumi/Leo fanbooks, who also handled the Tellius & Valentia artbooks, confirmed that Fates' artbook is underway.
I'm guessing since there's no date mentioned that the plans probably fell through to 2019. A shame, but it's still nice. I have a number of issues with some of Fates' designs, but a lot of them are pretty nice and it'll be cool to have full official artwork of everyone.

And probably some more lore because god knows the fates story is not nearly convoluted enough.
