Flying Water Pokemon

So what could be done about them?

It's always looked akward since I first played Stadium 1,

Having a special water stadium would make things a lot easier while in 'story' mode were there is no water instead of floating if they just remained in the floor would make a little more sense, though it wouldn't work so well for the few smaller water pokemon like remoraid.

A simpler solution would be to just animate water around them when they are released, yeah I realize that would also look unrealistic but IMO is still a better option.

btw if you like the flying water pokemon then its pointless for you to post here.

Or maybe you can't release them in ground except in some special water gyms they make.

Maybe the arena can change like when your releasing a wailord, the arena bottom opens up and the pokemon drops inside a pool. But then think about electric attacks. Maybe it just won't effect it...

And Lapras,Blastoise and many others.

How about just leave it the way it is? There's no way to make water pokemon appear and have them battle equaly with other pokemon. They can't move when they're on their bellies, and the same goes for if their put in a conveniantly placed puddle.

Oh, yeah....I agree with DriveshafT

This has already been discussed on this board. Actually it has been discuessed on almost every pokemn board. o_O Cybercubed brought it up and got flamed. Why are you bringing this up for?

Um... keep it as-is. It'd be a hassle and a stupid restriction to not be able to use a Pokémon you like because it just lives in the water. Restricting Pokémon to certain Stadiums won't happen...

Plus, adding special elements in the scenery and/or special animations for such Pokémon would either look much worse/cause more complaints and conflict ("Look! A random bod of floating water appeared, and the Pokémon is inside! I hit the Poké. OMG! It went out, but it returns in a sloppy fashion!" Or... "OMG! A pond popped out of nowhere! The Pokémon appears only for attacking! It's now 4x weak to Electric because it's inside water! And it's invulnerable against most attacks!") and/or require special programming and graphication, and getting in the way of the already stable programmed logic.

Um... just drop it? There's no need to do it whatsoever. Abuse of realism isn't a good thing at all. Especially when it screws up the logic of the engine and requires exhaustive, special programming for a measly detail like this...

restricting the use of water pokemon would definately be a terrible idea, but if they saw you had a water pokemon only pokemon they could put it as default gym could be an option

adding special water animation around it would probably get complains as well but not as many i would think, yes the random water around it would look weird but not as akward, the programming and graphics for that would not be much more of a hassle than say animating flying water pokemon...

drop it? it is an issue, it is not abusing 'realism', it is a simple thing to ask for. drop the thing about programing if you don't know anything about it... if it is still such an issue to discuss 'against' then just don't reply to the thread like it says on my first post..

I like the way it is now& its not that bad it looks kool to see a giant floating wail hovering above the trainer it makes wailord look like a blimp ....lol;292;

I don't really mind the whole flying water pokemon thing, as long as they're not levitating 10 feet off the ground so it makes you wonder how earthquake can even hit them.

The real question is, how're they gonna pull off dive?

They did it in Colsseum and XD, why is PBR any different?

The only water Pokemon that levitated that annoys me are Tentacruel and Lapras. Lapras could easily be on the ground, i dunno why it levitates. Tentacruel was a few feet above the Ground in Stadium and Stadium 2. Now, in Collosseum, he is about 10 feet above the ground. Compare him to a trainer. His lower tentacles are way higher up than a trainer's head. I hate it. The camera often goes at an angle and all you can see of Tentacruel is its tentacles. And Earthquake looks terrible on a Tentacruel too.

Another thing that annoys me is Victreebel. It has terrible animations and it levitates. Why? I can imagine a Victreebel on the ground easily.

Cuz the animators are lazy like that? I dunno. I assume it's easier to just animate something moving in midair than bouncing about on the ground.

lol, flying victreebel.

How exactly did they do dive in colosseum?

They dived by disappearing through the solid floor...often like concrete complete with water splashes!

Whatever could happen, restricting pokemon based in terrain would not work...teams would be messed up...and you'd have to train certain pokemon for each terrain...and have more than one for each else battles would be difficult...so more than six pokemon....

actually that would be very interesting and add a lot of strategy, not that I want it to happen necessary on Battle Revo...
