Flying with\against the wind?

I've had this one question burning in my mind since I've started pokemon, and saw the flying gym in Crystal. Just bear with me for a while here and pretend the following has happened:

You work for the creators of pokemon. One day, you come into work and see two other employees arguing. You hear them say the following:
F:"They need to add a wind type! The difference between Flying and Wind is the same difference between Rock and Ground."
A:"No, they should not! The Flying type counts as the wind type!"
F:"Actually, if you see it from my view, the flying type represents the sky and all creatures that travel through it. The wind type represents the breeze in the air and wouldn't be flying pokemon, but pokemon that can control tornadoes and create strong winds!"
A:"That's ridiculous! The flying type as well as others have wind-like attacks, like Silver wind and Ominous wind! If Wind was added, the last four gens of pokemon would have to be looked at all over again! It's too late to do that!"
They see you and then approach you, after which they ask you two questions:

Is the flying type, to you, the equivalent of a wind type or something else completely?
Which of them do you agree with? F (for) or A (against)?

I know this isn't the best topic but it's all I could think of at the moment.
I've believed Flying to be the wind type of pokemon but a lot of people I've asked disagree. So what do you think?

(If this belongs in pokepolls, then please move. If already done recently, please close.)

They've already found ways to incorporate various 'Wind' Pokemon without creating a separate type, the Levitate ability being one of them. Sure it discounts guys like Castform and...yeah...but even if a Wind-type was created, you can't really add any more Pokemon that could otherwise be Flying-type.

You also have to realise that Wind =/= Airborne. Things like Shiftry and Rapidash or anything that can run 'as fast as the wind' can be called a 'Wind-type'.

So yeah, I disagree. It's pointless. Also, unlike Flying and 'Wind', Ground and Rock are already brilliantly differentiated.

Eh... I'm pretty neutral, really. Yonowaru has a point with what he said. But also a Wind type would just be cool to have. So I'm neutral. I don't really care either way.

There isn't much effect in changing Flying to Wind. Except for moves like Wing Attack and Drill Peck becoming normal. Once that happens, how many Physical wind moves are left? Then you also have the fact Wind would comprise of nothing but blowing attacks. How many attack names would that have gotten us?

That's all wind does really. It becomes as much a specialty type as Electric. At least electricity can come in physical contact though. Let's not forget how many other things could be specialities. Sound could be a one. It has its own attacks and abilities. In reality, they are just unneeded burdens and complications. Charizard could have been a dragon, if a DRAGON type hadn't been invented. When you think about how little variety and combination there is in Electric types, how would Wind have mutilated flying? At best we'd have Water/Dragon Gyrados perhaps.

As you can see, I'm preference of a flying type (as nauseating as it sounds, in English anyway) because of how general it is in winged creature abilities and allows for decent expansion in accepting other types. Not every bird has to carry one of two good Wind moves. Silver wind and Ominous wind wouldn't be as good if they were another type anyhow.

Hello
Flying is equal to wind, just like how wind is equal to air.

Any ways, we don't need new types, there isn't any reason to.

Static owns you.
Flying represents anything involving air. They put it all together. If you think about it, all Flying pokemon, by pokemon standards, have the ability to control and create wind. Creating another type for wind would seem redundant.

i agree with A. flying types are flying not wind. if they were wind, they would be the wind type.

Against, for reasons stated by everyone else.

If there was to be a 20th type in Pokemon, I would definitely say Wood. =D Grass focuses more on leaves, flowers, and the likes. Actual stems, bark, wood, and such are different. [But I do see that there is a counter-argument to this, it's obvious why Wood should NOT be it's separate type. ^_^] Pokemon going along with the Wood type could include the Seedot Family, Sudowoodo & Bonsly, Exeggutor, and Torterra.

Apologies for the off-topic talk. I understand where the Wind idea is coming from, but blehhh. I'm only curious to know what everyone thinks, but perhaps a thread should be made asking members what Type they think should be the twentieth that would make sense in Pokemon. It'd be a fun little project. And expanding on that, a poll could be created to see what most people think.
