As Carlisle said, tomorrow is the last day of the recount. Results must be submitted by 8 PM Central Time.

Franken gained 100 votes today narrowing Coleman's lead.

Interesting video making the rounds of Senator Byrd telling Bill Richardson "You will never again receive support of the Senate of the United States for any office to which you might be appointed.”

This was all because of the Los Alamos spy thing that happened a few years back. We can all agree that the Los Alamos thing was a screw up of near epic proportions nearly ten years ago, and Bill Richardson who is the proposed new Commerce Secretary was smack dab in the middle of it. The question remains though, does Byrd and the rest remember it?

Edit: Here is a article detailing it from when it happened.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4182/is_/ai_n10136928

"You have shown an extreme contempt... of this Congress," Byrd lectured Richardson

"You've had a bright and brilliant career. But you will never again receive the support of the Senate of the United States for any office to which you might be appointed. It's gone. You've squandered your treasure," Byrd said.

Yeah Al Franken is pretty bad. My opinion turned sour of him when he made some pretty raunchy jokes about child pornography, I have a sense of humor, but it has its limits. Or when he failed to provide workers comp insurance for his own employees. As to why this loser even stood a chance in the first place I have no clue.

Yeah this is why I don't like him.

Obama-sama will fix up this country. We're going through economic hell, our environment's being poisoned, bigoted *ssholes are discriminating against gays and Jews and other minorities, we're in a pointless war that is getting thousands of our people killed, terrorism is on the rise, and people hate on nerds. Obama has the solutions to all of these problems (except maybe the nerd one).

You do realize Blacks voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8 so I guess we can count the Black Populous into the bigoted *ssholes catagory? And mind you the only ones acting like '*ssholes' right now, are the Gay Marriage supporters.

I love blind lemmings like you who believes Obama will solve all the problems. Newsflash he isn't going to get out of Iraq until he can be sure the Iraqi Police and Military will be able to take control of the country and provide safety. You're "Obama-sama" isn't a idiot and doesn't want a genocide on his hands.

He also isn't going to help stop the "Environment from being poisoned" when the economy is in the slumps and strickter Environmental Regulations would only cost more jobs right now.

So go back to praying to your statue of Obama, but the cold slap of reality is about to smack you across the head.

Coleman is up ahead again by the SoS website. Three hours and fifty eight minutes until the numbers are due! Lets see how the challenged ballots go. With only a 1,000 vote separation, it could be a determining factor.

Well, Obama's made another announcement today. Shinseki as Secretary of Veteran Affairs - another great pick by Obama.

But something to note. Even though it is way too early, CNN did a poll asking if you had to choose someone for the Republican nominee in 2012, who would it be.

The majority chose Huckabee.

...HUCKABEE?

I'm sorry, but the Republicans REALLY need to get their act together. Huckabee would only give them another thrashing by the Democrats. They need to get people who know what they are doing, and start appealing to people other than the religious nutjobs. But if Obama does a good job, I definitely would want Republicans to choose someone bad. Huckabee/Palin would be just great for the Democrats! Dumb and Dumber 2012! Half the people who went for the Republican nomination this election couldn't even run a lemonade stand. :/

The people who are actually going to respond to a poll like that, on either "side" of politics, are the most dedicated. Very right/left, single issues, and so on.

But Huckabee does surprise me, since he'll never make it past a primary. He supported a number of social programs that get conservative think tanks all wound up. I could see him in a number of political positions, elected and appointed, but not POTUS or VP.

I figured he would give this job to McCain seeing how his name was floated early on. But oh well.

Was the poll online or a phone poll? Because last I heard Romney leads among everyone, Palin among Republicans. I promise you, both will be a force to be reckon with come 2012, as will Jindal and Pawlenty.

Huckabee is finished with, and really if the poll was online I bet it was influenced by Democrats that would want to see Obama walk all over Huckabee.

I seriously do not see Huckabee running or winning in 2012 unless the Primary Results are as polluted as it was this year for McCain. You have too many big names in the race, and Huckabee just isn't one of them.

I'm going to guess it was online poll, I don't think it was stated.

Jindal seems like the only force to be reckoned with. Pawlenty needs to do something to make him less...boring, Palin...is a national joke. Much ado from the media. She needs to get some experience in these next four years, and she needs to get better positioned on social issues. Obama is going to keep abortion legal, progress gay rights, and start funding for embryonic stem cell research. Hundreds of executive orders implemented by Bush are going to be reversed in the first few weeks of Obama's presidency. But, if she can get some experience, and learn how to fight back the media, I wouldn't mind going to a speech of her's. And then she'd be taken a lot more seriously. She definitely has something going, but it's up to her to play it right. She IS a genuine person, and she is a person I love listening to. Jindal is definitely a star on the rise, it's just his social policy that also bothers me. :/ Obama's going to move America extremely to the left socially, and I don't want America to go from Conservative to Liberal every four years. Romney I think won't be able to make it. He's an old white Mormon with an extremely right wing agenda. I don't think it'll be able to fly. AND he comes off as extremely partisan.

Jindal and Palin are currently who I see being the top contenders.

But who will even bother running against Obama if he does an okay job? The only person who could have stood up to him, and ALMOST beat him, was Hillary Clinton. And she can't run in 2012. If no one bothers going up against Obama, it means a potential loss for him. The tight Democratic race riled up a LOT of people, and we didn't know who was going to win until the very end for sure. A boring Democratic race means people aren't being motivated, which will be bad for Democrats.

Also, any clues on who will fill Hillary Clinton's shoes in NY? Some are saying Caroline Kennedy, but I don't want her.

I doubt it, he needs every bit of political clout as possible to get Economic Bills past. Plus he doesn't want to start pissing off a large swath of America just around the same time that they realize he can't make their lives better with a wave of his hand

Hundreds of executive orders implemented by Bush are going to be reversed in the first few weeks of Obama's presidency.

Which is the first big dumb *** move of his Presidency. Rule Number One that Bush learned, is that the guy before you could have had some pretty good ideas. Wiping the Slate Clean only leads you to create mistakes that could be prevented by coming in with a open mind, and eventually reinstating the things you originally came in against.

Obama's going to move America extremely to the left socially, and I don't want America to go from Conservative to Liberal every four years.

Yeah I can agree with that, we need some stability as we saw through out the late 80s and early 90s. But then again that stability was brought about by going from Far Left to Far Right to Leaning Right to Centrist.

Romney I think won't be able to make it. He's an old white Mormon with an extremely right wing agenda. I don't think it'll be able to fly. AND he comes off as extremely partisan.

Ahh but you forget the magic issue: The economy.

As Partisan as he may seem, and really the Mormon thing is a non issue after like 2 months. But all of that aside, Romney is the magic man when it comes to economic situations. With his track record and the possibility of a depression going on in 2012. He has a leg up on everyone else in the field.

Actually I think even in this year of Anti Republican, Romney would have kicked Obama's *** if the economic events played out the same. Romney's one true strength was his back ground in economic situations. He would have schooled Obama at a debate on that and probably would have lead to a closer race.

Either way lets say Obama does a fair job, which really in all honestly probably wont happen but that is for another discussion. Even if he is doing a fair job, he still runs at a disadvantage in the next election.

And that is that he can no longer run on "Change" he can no longer run on "Hope". The magic issue in his Campaign Run is gone. Which is why I think Obama really is only a one term President. He would have to suddenly run on his record, something he has well, never been able to really do. I really can't see him being able to put together another major campaign with out that magic intangible.

Four years can wipe away alot of bad memories. She will have that time to brush up on various issues and get mentally and politically ready. Just as I am sure Jindal is doing.
Lets hope. It's unfair how the media treats some people. :/

His transition team has already stated that one of the first things he plans on doing is reversing the executive order limiting funding towards stem cell research. I'm all for it, but I think that early isn't that right time.

A depression...is terrifying, to be honest. :| I know the economy is Romney's issue, but if by a miracle things can start to get better in two years, I don't think he has too much to run on then.

Oh wow, that is definitely right. He can't use Change or Hope when he's the one who has been in charge the last four years...if he does poorly economically and domestically, and his approval ratings start to sink and sink...I can see Hillary Clinton running again. o_o But all of these are very tight if's.

How do you think Palin/Jindal would stand up against Clinton?

Obama-sama will fix up this country. We're going through economic hell,
Who hold's power in Congress? They caused this mess.
our environment's being poisoned,
Care to elaborate? I fail to see the problem, for it certainly isn't greenhouse gases essential to life, such as carbon dioxide and water vapor.
bigoted *ssholes are discriminating against gays and Jews and other minorities.
Care to give some examples? I have some. The radical muslims are attacking us do to their bigotry. Do you consider them bigots, or just misunderstood people? You conflict yourself.
we're in a pointless war that is getting thousands of our people killed,
See above, is it pointless if we are holding back terrorists from launching another attack on our nation and establishing a working government in a former dictatorship? I think not.
terrorism is on the rise,
See above...
and people hate on nerds.
That's cause geeks are better :p hehe.
Obama has the solutions to all of these problems (except maybe the nerd one).
Just what will your 'Messiah' do? I don't think you or he knows.

Now, you are smart enough to not be a mindless lemming. Look more into the facts, and listen to a few conservative shows, Mark Levin offers free podcasts (marklevinshow.com), its about 1:15 long, and one episode might just increase your iq by a few points. Its much shorter than limbaugh or hannity, and it gets the point across.

Getting in from one side, as it seems you are doing, is not smart. Educate yourself on the issues, and read through the Constitution twice. Its a good read for any American.

I really hope Clinton who probably has the best memory of the first year of Bush overturning so many things her husband did, speaks to him about the danger of that.

Your exactly right, it all depends on what happens in the next three years.

How do you think Palin/Jindal would stand up against Clinton?

See that is a very good question, I think that it all depends if Obama uses her as a scapegoat for anything that happens in the next four years. If she is half the Political Opportunist that she was in the 90s, she will know when she is getting played, and when she is being thrown to the wolves on a Foreign Policy mistake, and take steps to head them off before they can place the blame on her.

I really and truly see Obama placing Hillary at the State Department as a way to have a Political Scapegoat. Maybe he is doing it as a favor, and maybe he is doing it on her credentials (Which he himself trashed). But with Iran having nukes in the next year, Pakistan a wild card, Venezuela getting a back bone, Russia being stupid, and a million other things that could damage a Presidency. You want a Sacrificial Lamb that you can blame the failures on.

Hillary is going to stand up to foreign leaders, I can tell you that. Obama himself has said it all comes down to him. If Hillary and foreign leaders are compromising things, but Obama is messing it up, she can use that as a mirror and reflect it back onto him. "Don't blame this on ME, I told him what we needed to do, foreign leaders told him what we needed to do, and yet HE was arrogant and did things the way he wanted. Besides, /I'm/ not president, I just advise the president."

I can see where you're coming from. At least she's only with foreign policy, so he can't blame economic issues and health care, etc. on her. Foreign policy doesn't have to go perfectly, but if it remains stable at the very least, he can't do much on her. Plus, I don't think he wants to risk his political image by insulting his own cabinet members.

Wow, the prospects of Hillary running in 2012 seem a lot higher than I thought they could be. XD Am I the only one thinking 2012 will be like 2008 only like...times two? With a lot more serious, a lot more good people running, and a lot more to gain/lose?

Ok, so the recount is over in Minnesota. Norm Coleman came out with a 687 vote lead. Now they have to go through the challenged ballots. They want to declare a winner by the 19th.

Sheesh, can't Frankenstein just give it a rest? He lost... Is it really that hard to accept? This recount just takes time and money.

Wow, the whole thing with the governor of Illinois is pretty disgusting. It's pitiful how some people decide to ruin the name of democracy like that. I'm glad he's been arrested.
