For Crying Out Loud! (134)

I wonder what would've happened if Marill had joined Kasumi's team at the end of the episode, assuming of course that Miyuki would surrender Marill. I'd love to imagine Kasumi using Marill frequently, but then again her track record implies otherwise.

I just wanted to see Ash do more with Togepi here since Togepi was once his back when he had found the egg.

He never really bonded with it even back in Kanto, so I didn't feel like we missed out on anything special here just because he didn't bond with Kasumi's Togepy while she was away with Marill.

One thing that I noticed in this episode was the music which included some somber songs that we normally didn't hear often in the series. Marill was really annoying and I didn't really understand why we needed an episode that focused on Marill again after we had seen a Marill in the Orange Islands under Tracey's ownership. But I liked Misty's bond with the Marill even though she didn't get to keep it.

My favorite part of this episode was seeing Misty with Pikachu and Marill for the whole episode with no Togepi around because I was sick and tired of seeing her carrying Togepi in her arms everywhere. Togepi being with Ash and Brock instead was cute because they both could've had Togepi before Misty took it from them in Kanto. I liked that Marill was given a crybaby personality to make it much different from the Marill that Tracey had. 7/10

After I rewatched the episode, Misty really had her hands full with this Marill. Even though she has experience with being around a Marill, it was really different personality-wise. At the same time, I wonder what it would have been like if it was Ash that got separated from the group and had the cry baby Marill and Pikachu with him instead of Misty.

From my viewpoint, the episode wouldn't have worked as well if Satoshi had been the star. Kasumi was a Water-type specialist, so her finding a way to get along with Marill made more sense to me.
