Pretty sick upgrade Joe.
It has nothing to do with that.
Designing a forum layout with white text on a black background is a terrible idea to begin with.
It's not about bugs or something that can be "fixed" so easily.
If the layout was for, say, a Tumblr, which has a lot less text and more images usually, then the layout would be fine. But it's inherently problematic for a forum.
I'm speaking STRICTLY FROM A DESIGN STANDPOINT here. It doesn't seem like you understood what I even meant. LOL
And honestly, the layout is so horrible, color-wise, that it shouldn't have even gone up in the first place! I do understand it's meant to be based on Black and White, but why not have the site background black, with a white area for the text's background. Like how the default has a gray background with a green text background. I know it's possible.
I have no issues at all with the functionality of either layout. Just the aesthetics of the second one. I'm just trying to provide some advice, because it really is terrible to look at text that is white on black, if it's body copy.
Strictly from a design standpoint.
Jeez I hope you're not a designer, cause your idea is even worse. The BW theme is amazing and the better of the three currently available. You don't like it? Don't use it. Wait for the other themes to come out. And FYI, they were trying to be minimalistic. Apparently that concept was lost on you.
No. It won't matter what themes are to be released. Some people dislike the layout (as in the template). No amount of theme-ing will fix that. It's always possible to use some JavaScript to move some HTML here and there, but it'll be a mess.Jeez I hope you're not a designer, cause your idea is even worse. I actually kind of agree with minchan here. It might just be me with my slightly sensitive eyes, but the bright white text on a stark black background creates too much contrast, especially when reading lengthy paragraphs and such. For some reason it stands out in the Black and White skin much more than the Dark type skin, from what I remember.

P.S.: The BW theme doesn't look "amazing" to me. Only in a forum would you ever see that kind of layout. Certainly not in professional websites.
I officially love this upgrade. It brought back my ability to press ctrl + b/u/i to make the bold/underline/italicized tags appear that I lost once I started using google chrome
Err... my apologies? I thought that since I quoted you, you would know that I am replying to what you said, not minchan. He was talking about the theme, not the layout. Way to read.
And since you don't like the layout nor any of the themes anyways, your opinion is irrelevant in this discussion.
Then wouldn't having a white background behind the text make it even worse (kind like how the reply boxes look when you are typing)? And couldn't you just dim your screen a little to reduce the brightness of the text?

I agree, that idea is not any better. I never said I wanted it like that though. As for the screen bit, well, I always have it on the lowest setting when it's sunset/night. I'll be honest, my disliking of the text probably stems from the fact there is a white border around the posts, which makes the text seem more condensed and cluttered. Again, this may just be me. Some people like it, others don't. I don't like it, which is odd considering I loved the Dark type theme before, but ever since I switched to Steel type, the contrast of Black and White seemed too harsh for my eyes.
I won't be using the Black and White skin anyway, so why does it matter? I'm not sure, but I was just expressing my opinion on the topic.
Er... speaking as a designer, white on black is terrible for those with sensitive eyes, especially now that the font is a little smaller. There is a HUGE difference between that and what black on white would look like. Most sites tend to use a light color for the background and dark color for text. It's waaaay easier on your eyes when reading for extended amounts of time. Black on a slight grey is even better. Think about all the books you read. Black on white. Not the other way around.
