OMFG!!! i have heard that the Xbox 360 has an overheating problem and is being recalled!!!! :( !!! is this true??? Can someone tell me what the deal is with the overheating?

Although it is said that it's only occuring in a small number of machines, if yours did break I'm sure the store woudl happily give you a replacement, but there's no chance in hell you'd get it before next year.

The rumours are mostly not true. A small number of machines are defective, but it wouldn't just stop working weeks after you've bought one, it's something that's happened to people almost immediatly. Also, if you send it to Microsoft, they will replace it, free of charge. MS do have extra stock for this kind of thing.

That may be true. But it still takes awhile to mail out a replacement. Because of the holidays, most shipments are not guaranteed until the 1st of the year. It may be true that a small number of x-box's were affected, but around here, we have had a lot of bad units. I would guess that a certain lot was affected, so it may be more prevalent in certain shipments. Most of my friends are upset with their equipment. I decided to hold off cause I didn't want to fight off the rush when they were first released. I'm thinking it'll be safer after a couple of weeks as everything should hopefully be corrected by then.
