I've never tried FrontPage before, so I'll go with DreamWeaver. It's free and it's easy...if you know how to use it, that is

The best web designer is Notepad. Just learn web language and it'll turn out better than any designer.

I'm with Kal-El about hand-coding, but...

Jonouchi, there is a rule against discussing piracy. Dreamweaver is, by no stretch of the imagination, EXTREMELY expensive ($400 on Adobe's site). Anywhere you can get it free is illegal.

I mean you don't have to pay like other Web hosting sites. I am aware that you have to pay for the product.

In my opinion, EvrSoft's FirstPage 2000 is better, it's easy to learn even for beginners. It has a scripts menu where you can add crap stuff that you don't need like tacky little cursors.

I have tried both and there is no clear cut winner.
FrontPage was easier to learn, but AFAIK, it is more limited than Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver was harder for me to learn, but I definately could do much more than FrontPage after a while.

I used to write all code in notepad, but when I got DW, it became obvious what a great program it is.

Syntax colouring and auto-indent are dead useful. It's especially good for PHP, since all the in-built function names are couloured blue, and it's easier to debug and read.

FrontPage? Another of Microsoft's products that insults my intelligence. Whoever is half serious about web design and programming won't give FP a second look.

Dreamweaver is to FrontPage as Firefox is to Internet Explorer. 100% Pwnage.
