Would you want a full 3D Pokemon Main game? And when I say that I don't mean Collesseum or XD, I mean a MAIN Pokemon game in which you catch them all, collect badges etc.

and when I say full 3D, I also mean the trainers and Pokemon themselves being 3D.

Why/Why not?

I certainly don't see anything wrong with having a 3D Pokemon game. After all, Gamefreak have proven in many 3D Pokemon spin-offs that Pokemon is capable of having very high quality 3D graphics.

The next gen looks like it will be a 3D game, but thats sepulation.

I would like to see a 3D main game. B/W had some semi-3D efects, and pokemon rumble blast looked good in 3D. I wonder if the would make a 3D, and 3D one for the ds.

I'm in two minds about it. It could probably look awesome if done correctly, but then it might be too much of a drastic change for the series. People like change but not too much of it.

In saying that many games made huge changes and pulled it off, and changing from 2D to 3D is one of the most common changes that occurs in a series.

XD gave us a feel of what towns and stuff would be like in 3D but lacked the whole enter the grass and catch wild pokemon elements.

Well i think the next main Pokemon games (which could be released on 3DS), will most likely have only the pokemon battles in full 3D mode while the other parts would be based on high end graphics (and semi-3D). The reason for this is because of the "Pokedex 3D" which was released on 3DS. I think that was released by Gamefreak as a testing platform for the 3D mode battles which they would use in future main games.

The reason for me to believe that this might happen is also based on the trailers for the upcoming "Fire Emblem" game on the 3DS console which has battles in full 3D mode while the basic unit movements and the others are in semi-3D mode (people who know about the FE series should be able to understand what i am trying to point at).

I think that it would be sweet to have a 3D main game. The sprites do alright for me, but I would like 3D battles and cutscenes for a game to see how it plays out. The battles would look more in-depth and actually feel more alive to me than basic 2D attack moves. Actually moving sprites in battle was a step up and I hope for more. As well, having a 3D stare down with your rival, gym leader, evil team, etc. would be pretty awesome. It depends on how well they can transition a normal 2D experience of a main game to 3D, which I think they can do.

So long as it's not by game freak, I say hell yeah. Seriously. All of the mainstream pokemon games are amazing, but when it comes to 3D pokemon games (except for XD) Gamefreak has a tendency to make mind numbingly dumb decisions. Pokemon Collesseum aka Not Staduim 3 where you can only catch around 40 out of 300+ pokemon! Pokemon Battle Revolution aka Half assed Staduim 3 with barely any rental pokemon, no minigames, retarded bad egg system, and isn't worth your money unless you have a 4th gen game already. But the graphics are God like. In other words I'm more concerned about what they're going to do with rest of the game, because managing battles and cutscenes are the easy part, because they've done it like a gajillion times.

Pokédex Complete!
I think it's been said by the game designers that they prefer sprites over 3D models. I can't find the source, so don't quote me on this.

Also the 3d battle animations take far longer then 2d ones. It could get annoying.

Edit: Also I don't think they should do anything with 3D until they've had a complete redo of all the old models. Some of the PBR models for 1st and 2nd gen were still horrible stadium quality things (Exeggutor, Kingdra, various others), pokemon from the first three generations had appaling shiny recolours (Skitty and Delcatty are just the normal colour with a red tint over the whole body, as opposed to recolouring only the appropiate parts) and even some of the ones they remade have they're old animations (see growlithe). Hell, even some of the 4th gen things need a touch up: Infernape defies gravity.

Are you sure GameFreak were responsible for Collesuem?
I though it was Genius Sonirity that did both XD and Colleseum!

correct genius sonority did both colesseum and xd and neither one was that bad of game. Never played battle revolution so I can't say anything on the matter.

hmm yeah I thought so. XD was decent but Collesuem was awful in my opinion, and battle revolution is nothing compared to Pokemone Stadium 1 let alone 2.

But if it's a main Pokemon game, it will definitely be GameFreak making it.

You stupid idiot, those games were not made by Game Freak.

As for a full 3D pokémon game. It isn't going to happen as it would take up far to much data space.

Whoever was in charge of that operation. Generally I just want someone else to do it

Yes I really want Gen VI or any Pokemon game that's going to be on the 3DS like Gray or RSE maybe to be in full 3D like Super Mario 64 and Zelda OOT/MM/WW/TP/SS because since the DS wasn't fully capable for full 3D games I think Pokemon games will turn from 2D Sprite to a 3D overworld where you can watch the sun rise and set and watch the clouds go by and such. It is possible that there will be a full 3D Pokemon game coming to 3DS as Zelda OOT 3D and Super Mario 3D land proved that it is possible. (Especially having a cycle pad plus the Cycle pad pro) the same goes to a new 3DS Zelda game from scratch.

and not saying Colleseum was bad. It was a sucker punch because we all thought it was gonna be Staduim 3. and then when we found out that there was story to it we all got excited again and then it turned out there was only 40 or so pokemon in the game

I loved XD because it was Colleseum done right, or at least better

PBR, is a mega nerfed Staduim 3, that only functions as an accessory to the 4th gen games, but for some reason still cost $40+
