I'm surprised a thread hasn't been made for this yet.

In my opinion this is the best series of Fall 2011. The manga was good, but it had some flaws in its narrative. The Anime just... improves everything. Which is surprising, because Asread is notorious for being even shittier than Studio DEEN. It even amps up the amount of yandere (for those who aren't aware, Yuno is the posterchild of all yandere characters out there).

Future Diary is similar to Battle Royale, Death Note, Eden of the East (sort of), and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (in more ways than one). So if you like those, you'll like Future Diary.

I just came back from watching episode 1. How convenient that we have a thread for it!

I haven't seen the OVA or the manga yet, and it seems really intriguing so far. Does anyone know whether it's slated for 12-13 or 24-26 episodes?

I thought the first episode was amazing, it really hooked me in, however I'm going to reserve judgement until after 10 or so episodes, because the last time an anime hooked me in the first episode No. 6 happened.

I like this. Obviously, I can't give a proper opinion with just the one episode but the amount of fun I had watching said episodes means that I'll probably be sticking with this for the full 26 episodes.

To name a few:

When Yukki and Yuno went to that pool-like place, her breastholder fell, so little drama happened.
The flashback on that cat-eyed woman where she was laying on the ground, naked.
When 9th (I think that was her number) was in prison.
A diary-holder that is a kid, tryed to kill Yuno when she was in the bathroom (both naked).

I think those are all that I encountered in the manga so far (chap. 13), but I think I missed few.

Except for CG Deus Ex Machina to cut costs from actually animating him. On one hand, he's voiced by Norio Wakamoto...but then he's got the horrible, cheap CG look to him.

I know this is going to sounds weird but I... kinda like the CG look for Deus Ex Machina. Now, I haven't seen the original so I don't have anything to compare to but I think it works. Normally, I would be one of the first to say that the CG looks jarring or cheap or unnecessary but I like it in this case and here's why: Deus Ex Machina, from what I've seen, is a very "other worldy" character. He's got that misshapen head with that weird hair and those long arms and that crazy huge chair thing. It's like seeing Jack Skellington in clay as opposed to regular 2D. At least that's how I see it.

I thought the same thing. I didn't mind Deus' CG because it made sense in the context of the story.

But about the Anime being better than the manga...

This basically speaks for itself. A huge problem with the manga was the fact that the art was nowhere near as creepy as the actual story. Some scenes, like when Yukki found out that Yuno had skeletons in her closet (metaphorically speaking, of course!!), were kind of derpy because of the art. I'm sure the Anime will do a much better job.

Wow, they didn't mess around did they? Two more diary owners already, plus a presumably pretty high body count. Their new cop ally is going to come in handy when it comes to getting away with murder (and from what we've seen so far, causing the deaths of thousands of innocent bystanders). Cool stuff.

Episode 2 was... a blast (pun intended).
That moment where Fourth pulls the gun on Yukkio, hilarious stuff. And I can't believe Ninth got a dart in the eye-OH TIME FOR A BOOB JIGGLE JAPAN NEVER CHANGES.

It looks like some scenes will be cut/stuff covering them after all.

I liked how at the end of episode 2 they gave some time to explain some of the subplots that the main presentation hinted at.
