SHUCKLE MAN said:Groudon is said to be the best of all Pokemon and to be honest, I think it very well may be. There are 4 ways of beating Kyogre with Groudon. I uber battle on Netbattle so I know how these work obviously.
1)Use 2 earthquakes. This method only really works if you get the Kyogre on the switch, and then it misses.
2)Baton pass attack and speed to a Groudon to 1HKO a Kyogre (or use Swords Dance or Bulk UP)
3)Use Solarbeam if it is sunny
4)Use thunder.
You may think method 4 is silly. Thunder on Groudon has 50% accuracy. BUT, when a Groudon is out in an uber battle, the opponent will switch into their Kyogre. On the turn the opponent switches, you can use Thunder. Kyogre's ability will give Thunder 100% accuracy. Thunder will take of about 60% of Kyogre's health on the switch and it has a 30% chance of paralyzing it, thus, giving the Kyogre a 25% chance of missing it's next turn and reducing it's speed stat by 50%. The Groudon has about 10% chace of 1HKOing the Kyogre with a CHThunder and if the Groudon is faster, then you will have no problem beating a switched in Kyogre with Thunder.
So, Kyogre will most likely win, but there are a few ways on beating a Kyogre with groudon and groudon is better overall.
Again, as Ethereal said, Groudon needs to be set up. Plus, no-one uses Solar Beam or Thunder on Groudon. And 2 EQs leaves Groudon at risk of being hit by Surf.
