Dust to Dust
EDIT: Sorry people, when I mean Game freak , I mean Nintendo.
Before you flame me for butchering the english language, let me tell you a short story. A few months ago I was sooooooooooo bored and I had just enough cash for 1 DS game and something extra. When Mystery Dungeon came out, i quickly snagged it and the guide prepared to spend at least 2 days playing it without breathing blinking or eating. I was giddy over the 'what pokemon are you?' feature (i turned out to be a ;001 and all the hype (they made a short movie about this, after all) about it. I started the first mission and ended it . "Thats' it?!" I thought to myself. I shut off the DS and pretended like it never happened. The next day I decided to give it a second chance. I played through the whoooooooooooole story mode. Disappointed, i flipped to all the extra dungeons and all. But after reading them over a bit, I then thought to myself 'Who cares and why should i do this?' Then it hit me and I was enraged. I had bought a cheap stalling game.
I kept thinking to myself all the Pokemon games that were spin offs....Pinball, HeyYou, Pikachu!, Snap, Channel, Trozei, etc. I still belived GF wasnt churning out cheap games to get the money of younger audiences just because they slapped Pikachu on it. Then, I learned the gameplay of Pokemon Ranger : drawing circles. Yes, something we all probably mastered in Kindergarden would be implied on to a $30-$40 dollar game. I gave up.
I was even more disheartend (sic) when i discovered that if Nintendo hadn't released Mystery Dungeon or Ranger, we would've had D/P in English earlier next year or perhaps by Xmas since they didnt want D/P to overshadow it.
What is the purpose of this post? To put your opinion on Pokemon Spinoffs that are made each year. Are they cheap stalls meant to trick pokemon fans or are they just Nintendo's expirement to 'strike gold' again?
