Games that you think are underrated

Based on your personal opinions, what games do you think are underrated? For me it seems that in every video game series, there is one game I really enjoy, but everyone else dislikes. Off the top of my head, the games that I think are underrated include:

Sonic Heroes - Sure, it wasn't the best Sonic game, but it wasn't terrible. Sonic Team have done much worse *cough*Shadow TH*cough*, and this is actually a pretty good attempt at recreated the 2d style in...3d. Personally, I couldn't put this game down for weeks because I loved the bright, colourful stages, the fresh yet familiar gameplay and the many obsticles faced while playing the game. Sure, the story wasn't that great, but, IMO, the gameplay was brilliant for a 3d Sonic game. My old disappointment in the gameplay was the bosses, but they are not an important part of Sonic games. If only they could somehow combine the Sonic Adventure series and Heroes...I would love that.

Mario Sunshine - Not much to say really, but this game doesn't get enough credit. IMO, it's much better than Mario 64, and possibly a greater experience than 1 or 2 of the 2d games, but it can never live up to the standards of SMB, SMB2 and SMW.

So, what games do you think are underrated?

I second that; Sonic Heroes is a good game. The problem was that Sega far over-hyped the game. Fans were expecting so much of this and a load of that but it wasn't there in the end. Minor problems such uncreative enemies and bosses became huge problems amongst fans. The music rocked, the graphics were bright and colourful and special stages returned. If there wasn't so much revealved so quickly it would have been better accepted. Fans also complained about the voice acting again which resulted in 4Kids for the future.

I second Super Mario Sunshine on being a great game. I loved it and I've only beaten once, but it was still a super game. People always thought it was a crappy game with a bad storyplot...but I thought it was awesome. I'm glad someone else thinks so too. ^_^

I agree with Sonic Heroes being underrated. I actually thought the game was good, like the graphics as well.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Alot of people don't like the Game. How sad. It was a great Game.

People don't say it's a bad game, people say it's a bad port of a good game. Mario 64 is kind overrated, actually...There are many better Mario games and Mario 64 was kinda dull IMO.

Beyond Good and Evil especially. Best non-Japanese game this generation, by far.

Azurik: Rise of Perathia for the Xbox. Sure the fighting was repetitive and the world was the most unrealistic in any game, but it was really fun. It's comparable to Metroid in the whole "explore, get item, backtrack", deal. I really had a lot of fun with it...well, except for the Fire Realm.

I say Vectorman and Earth worm Jim are both underrated games. They are both quiet fun. =D

I think that batman begins was underarted. it might have been short but i thought it was really fun, especially the racing levels.

Mario 64 is overrated, yes. But go to some Nintendo forums and they will all say "SM64DS sucked compared to the first one. Too many differences." While I do not agree with that (They clearly have not played Zero Mission) it is some grudge against the game now, dispite it being good. At launch it was the only good game. If Super Mario 64 DS was not downgraded for simple things (Control and New Features) it would probably be overrated.

No one said anything about console restricts, so I'll choose Jet Force Gemini for N64. It was a great game IMO, but people say there are so many better ones.

Mario 64 is a great game, it's certainly not overated. It pretty much brought us into 3d gaming, can you name a 3d platformer that came before it that was great?

Also, I don't agree that SMS is underated, all the levels feel the same, with the tropical setting and all... and F.L.O.O.D sucked too...

Anyway, I think the most underated game is Final Fantasy IV, I know... I know... But it's vastly underated and overlooked by it's later installments...IMO...

Definitely Super Mario Sunshine. I loved that game, and still don´t understand why people hated it so. The water? Jeez.

I won't comment on some, since they've already been posted, but there is one that I must say:

Bokura no Taiyou (Boktai): This game is the pinnacle of awesomeness, you fight vampires with the power of the sun. For some reason, this game has been shafted like hell in the US, with poor sales of the first two games. The sales were low enough for Konami not to release ShinBok (the third game, Shin-Bokura no Taiyou) in the US, which leaves it's partnered game (Rockman.EXE 6) in the dark, as you can't use the crossover mode.

 

[Twilight Myuu]

Final Fantasy VIII was underated it was a good game.It had beatufil FMV's and the storyline was good too.Many people didn't like it because junctioning was too complicated for them , but its quite simple when you get used to it.

Pro eveoluton soccer 5 a lot of the people i know say it is rubbish because the teams are incorrectly named and such but it is a heck of a lot better than fifa 06.

all the F-zero games are vastly underated, and star-fox 64 is kind of underated
