Which do you prefer, and why?
I like the GB cries. They're all unique and interesting. Some of them are just really addicting! And they're more animal-like. (I know animals don't sound like Gameboys. I'm just saying that animals have cries, they don't say their names/specie.

Some of the anime voices are cute, but a lot of them are super annoying. It's also annoying when you meet some random person who knows next to nothing about pokemon and, when they hear you're playing the game, they can't resist bellowing "*Bad squirtle voice* SQUIRTLE! SQUIRTLESQUIRT!" ...*Slaps*
I'm sorry if this threads been done before, I searched it and couldn't find anything.

Nothing to be done
I'll take the Gameboy cries any day. They're all unique and memorable. They all fit the Pokemon they're assigned to in some way, as well. That's far more preferable than having my Pokemon scream its name at me over and over again, especially if it has an irritating voice.

GBA cries please.

at least they don't follow the same tired old name repitition act used by nearly ever japanese monster.

Kabuto

little punks!
GBA cries work in game, Anime cries work in the show. Overall, GBA cries, but I'm glad they changed it in the anime.

Omega Pirate

shove it up ya bum!
I don't see a point to either, it doesn't enhance the game in anyway, and on my sapphire game I always play with the sound turned down because of the annoying sounds they make and the stupid music. I vote the get better music and dump the stupid pokemon calls altogether, be they GBA noices or anime.

GBA cries definitely. The name thing is just stupid and most of their voices get very annoying. The cries actually make them sound like real creatures, and the edited ones from Stadium and Stadium2 give them a battle cry, too.

Hmm. Sickeningly cutesy repetition, or one or two off-key notes, lemme think. I didn't really like either of them, but I have to say that the animé voices are really good to have as .wavs to irritate people.

I really wish they'd actually had animal sounds; for example, in the Lion King, for one of Mufasa's roars they combined the sound of a tiger and a bear, I think, to make it sound extra-ferocious. I suppose that'd take up a lot of space, though, and it would be difficult to make specialized sounds for all of them.

Back on topic, er, I say GBA.

The GB cries are much better but as it's already been stated by Rancid Meat, anime cries work for the show. Can you imagine how it would sound with the GB cries in the show? Although, if they made it more 'realistic' and not sounding so digital, it would work well. I'm just glad the Stadium and Colosseum games utilised the GB cries.

Japanese animé cries for the win. Half of them don't even say their names anyway.

I just keeping Octo
I'm kind of partial to the Stadium cries myself. Especially Grimer because it sounds like a toilet flushing.

Definately the GB sounds. As the others said, they are much more unique, and they match a GB environment more. It was bad enough when they put Pikachu's voice in Yellow Version. But sometimes a few sounds sound exactly the same with two completely different Pokemon. Compare Machop and Omanyte's cry as an example :p

GB cries, with the exception of Pokemon that don't say their names in the anime. And on the subject of Pokes saying their names, I suppose they can only have so many roars and growls and howls and such before they all start sounding the same, but they could at least have their names have more of a "animal cry" sound to them. (like Grovyle's Japanese voice - it does go "Ju~ Ju~", but it still sounds like a sound a real animal might make.)

GB voices definately. I stopped watching the Anime because I found the Pokémon voices very irritating, especially the advance generation. Treecko, Zangoose, Seviper, Marshtomp, Ralts, Poochyena, Taillow and Garevoir were not what I expected, so I hated them.

GBA cries.
The Anime Voices are just annoying, Especially:
"Pika,Pika!" and Taillow...

I like them all
The game cries: they're really interesting sounds ranging from the cutest like Skitty to freaky like Tropius to spooky like Milotic to a scary one like Sharpedo. And they're really good to freak people out. Sneak up behind a person while in RSE's Pokedex Cry mode and play one, I bet they'll jump!

The anime cries: I like both Japanese ones and English ones. But the English ones can get real annoying especially in the latest dub episodes.

I'd have to go with anime cries. I just think they sound better and less digital.

Depends on the Pokemon. If it's a natural sound they make in the cartoon...

Example:
Lapras makes a high pitched whiny sound
Charizard roars
Gyarados hiss-roars
and Mew mews like a kitten. Though technically it's just being like the other Pokemon and saying it's name, with Mew it sounds natural because "mew" is a real sound that a real animal makes, unlike Peekuhchew. XD

but voices such as Dustox really bother me. It sounds like a stuck-up child yelling "DUSSTOCKS!" in the cartoon! Totodile sounds like it has a horrible sore-throat.... Mind you, I've never watched the Japanese version, so it may be a bit biased.. but for the most part, I like the GB voices more. :3

I like both of my favorite pokemon and some not-so-favs.

I heard gardevior's for the first time, and was it sexy.

Hahhaha! Omg that made me smile! I can't get the picture of a little snot-snosed, kick-me kid yelling "DUSSTOCKS!" out of my head. Oh man. Now whenever Jessie brings he Dustocks out I'm going to think of this post.

I like the GBA cries the best. Although there are a few cries in the anime that I just prefer over the GBA. Gyarados, Bulbasaur, Gengar, and Tauros to name a few.
