GBA/DS roms and Flashcards - how do they work

hopefully some of you have this media center thing for ur DS cus i have a question :p

If i download a ROM and put it on the flashcard and into the Ds.. when i play the game will i also be able to save? (just wondering cus i dno if it can create a save file on the flash card?)

i hope someone can answer this :)
