GBA Link Cable

I just now sold my GBA link cable thinking I wouldn't need it. Turns out, I did. So, I went to GameStop in the mall and bought one. It doesn't work. My two Gameboys are my friend's onyx SP and my sis's Platinum GBA. What's the problem?

My GBA link cable stopped working too! I have no idea why, though...

Have you cleaned any dust out of the cable slots on both GameBoys?

Does anyone know if there is or is going to be a new way to do multiplayer between a Gameboy Advance game on a GBA and a GBA game on a DS?
I just tried blowing out the sockets. I'll edit saying if it works or not.

Edit: I tryed the trading and it did not work. It gets to the text box that says, 'B: Cancel.'
