They could just make it an Electric/Normal with boomburst if they were to make Stereo form a rotom form when not DJ rotom. That seems a lot simpler.
They could have also just made Sylveon a pure normal type as that seems a lot simpler then introducing the fairy type.

While yes the Exploud line was pure normal and sound based moves have been normal type in the past that doesn’t stop them or prevent them from introducing a sound type just like the Clefairy type line and the normal type moves charm and moonlight didn’t stop or prevent them from introducing a fairy type.

A Electric/Sound type makes more sense then a Electric/Normal type especially if Rotom Setero is a new battle form that is going to show up in Winds and Waves.

When you think of a stereo you think of sound, if they wanted a new battle form of Rotom to be a Electric/Normal type there are other appliances or objects they could have used that would have made more sense.

I always thought that that form of Rotom would get something sound related like Boomburst or Psychic noise.

But if there were hypothetically a new Sound-type, that would mean that many old Pokemon would get the new type such as Exploud (Pure Sound), Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff (Sound/Fairy), & Kricketune (Bug/Sound).
Of course, physical Sound-type moves would be hard to pull off, unless it's things like "Rat-A-Tat" or clapping, or beats, or Percussion or Strings related.

Or even Scyther.

A pre-evolved Scyther is something I've wanted for a long time. I don't expect it to happen but it would be awesome

True though sounds based moves are already a thing https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sound-based_move

With moves like Torch song, Eerie Spell, Psychic noise, Bug Buzz. It would be a bit negative for Pixilate Pokemon or similar that rely on Hyper Voice as that might no longer work with it (assuming that would change from normal) but I suppose they could add a new special normal move to compensate.

There's also Pokemon like Toxtricity which has clear sound based theming but suits its existing types.

Could they do it? if they wanted to of course they could, but I don't think they will as most types are added to solve a particular issue like Dark being added to deal with Psychic being overpowered and Fairy being added to deal with dragon being overpowered and no type is quite as dominant in the same way.

If I were to add a new type I'd add the "Digital Type" which would be a lot easier as it would mostly only be the Porygon line- (and for simplicity they could become dual typed Digital/Normal) and then just give it to new Pokemon. Though right now I probably wouldn't this either though I wouldn't rule out some minor type chart changes instead.

Just pointing this out but if a Sound type was introduced they could just do for Toxtricity what they did for Dhelmise in that Dhelmise is Ghost/Grass type but has an ability that gives it basically stab on Steel type moves.

So there wouldn’t really be a need to change Toxtricity’s typing since it already has an existing ability that basically gives it stab on sound based moves, that they could just modify to say sound type if they wanted to.

Then there's Pokémon like Noivern which would be difficult to re-type because both Flying and Dragon are important to it, etc.

That isn’t that much of a problem was as they could either re-type or just leave it as it is and create a regional variant of it or give it a new ability that gives it stab on sound type moves.

I mean heck they could have easily re-type Celebi to be part Fairy type but they didn’t so I don’t think that would really prevent them from introducing a sound type.

I’m hoping for a proper peacock/peafowl Pokémon, a possessed living spellbook Ghost Pokémon, a crane Pokémon (long overdue and very surprising that it doesn’t exist yet despite the crane being a major cultural icon for Japan), and a Bug/Dragon Pokémon.

I'm predicting the Pokédex I think we could see for Pokémon Winds and Waves. I think we might see some Caribbean like Pokémon for the region.
  1. I'm guessing the total in the Pokédex number will be up to around 1,200.
  2. I think we could see a Bird and Naga like Legendaries as the Mascot Legendaries for Pokémon Winds and Waves. Third Legendary will be based on Stars.
  3. Maybe around 6 other Legendaries (Maybe few new Regis like Crown Tundra introduced, I'm guessing it might be like Fire-type, Water-type, Flying-type, and/or Ghost-type Regis - I was looking at Wikipedia, there was a Urban Legend that believed Regis were being associated from the Nuclear Bombing, so I think a Fire-type Regi might work for a Nuclear like Regi)
  4. I think we could see some around 20 new Regional Variants including new Regional Legendaries. (I think Latias and Latios will might get the Regional Variant in this game)
  5. For returning Legendaries, I think we might see around 4 return Legendaries.

For 3, you're off, since each of those Pokemon are associated with a different time period. And each Regi was created by Regigigas using different materials (example: Registeel was created by magma.)

Response to 5: Unless DLC is announced.

One Pokemon line I'm predicting to get something at some point is the Porygon line. Now I'm not saying its certain, or that even if it does happen it'll be gen 10 but it one I am guessing might happen. The reason I think will happen is mainly because of the Pokedex entries and Pokemon masters. Now this is a strange statement I admit but here's my thinking and it comes from the Legends z-a dex.

Porygon
This is an artificial Pokémon created as a result of research. Its programming contains only the most basic of actions.

Porygon2
Porygon was updated so it could carry out development projects on other planets. The update used cutting-edge technology for its time.

Porgyon-z
Porygon-Z's programming was updated so that the Pokémon might operate in other dimensions. Its behavior has been strikingly odd ever since.

The reason I found this significant is that Porygon and Porygon-2 specifically mention its programming and tech being either basic or no longer cutting edge and Porygon-z keeps to its regular information about behaving odd. Considering a lot of legends z-a pokedex entries

Then in Pokemon masters Gladion it mention "He's been studying programming for Porygon-Z's sake" for his Pair with Porygon-z. Which shows that a character in-universe sees the issues with it but also that programming might help it. Even if he's not the one that ultimately does it.

This makes me wonder if at some point we will get a new upgrade. Possibly a Porygon-3 that's programmed with more modern tech programming or some sort of upgrade that Porygon-z has where it starts functioning better (probably not a mega but possibly a different form). While none of this is completely new, a lot of the legends z-a entries are just repeats old ones and both Porygon and Porygon2 mention it being basic and are least not exact copies.

Now I admit none of this proof, but it makes me wonder if Porygon might get an update to the line.

We already have a Pokemon based on a tapir, Drowzee from back in Gen. 1.

We also got the Musharna line in gen 5 which seem to have some Tapir like inspirations. That being said it wouldn't prevent them from adding anther one if they really wanted to. Though personally I'd rather they didn't and if they want to do something new instead expand either line with something new like an evolution or a regional variant or something similar. I like Hypno in particular but I admit it really would benefit from some sort of upgrade.

Musharna is also infamous for an NPC in RBY/FRLG describing a hypothetical Pokémon that describes Musharna perfectly which was a pink Pokémon with flower patterns on its body.

Okay Stereo Rotom typing has been confirmed to be Electric/Normal, so I was wrong about it being part Sound type. Although I do think the fact that they are giving Stereo Rotom a typing combine with how similar it is to the other forms Rotom uses in battles makes me think that it’s pretty likely we will see it show up in Winds & Waves and probably Champions.

Although I do wonder if Winds & Waves will introduce any other new battles forms for Rotom besides Stereo Rotom.

Now they've given it a typing I wouldn't rule it out. Especially given that its less post-apocalyptic than some of the other forms revealed (at least before game released). The biggest difficultly is coming up with relevant appliance. Personally I would go with a bug zapper for bug type but beyond that coming up with other items is tricky. I have a few ideas but none I'm confident on. I would like to see some new forms though.

Eh. Close enough. Point is how eerily accurate that statement was over a decade before Gen V.

They did something slightly similar with Annihilape. Primeape in pokemon sun it had an entry which said "It has been known to become so angry that it dies as a result. Its face looks peaceful in death, however", Then two generations it gained a new Ghost evolution and which said "When its anger rose beyond a critical point, this Pokémon gained power that is unfettered by the limits of its physical body". Essentially explaining what happened when it got so angry it died.

It would not surprise me if in the future there are others that are inspired by things already in game.
