Gen 8 Region Hopes and Dreams

I would also want maybe a portion of Wales is what I said in the above post. Definitely could come up with some interesting story lines.

Why would it not include all of Wales if it has all of Scotland?

Don't get me wrong I think that a region based off the whole UK would be great. The story could be about the problems between the side based on Great Britain and the side based on Ireland

Cramorant is too cute for words!
Thinking it could have all of Wales now.

Hey everyone, Bhrjr here.
I don’t know if this is relevant enough for this topic, but this is just what I thought.
I feel like Generation 8 will last until 2021, where Gamefreak wants to make a whole new region for the 25th anniversary of Pokémon. Which, is supported by how Gamefreak decided to introduce Gen 6 in 2016 instead of making a “Z” version or something like that.

Two years - 2019 to 2021 - would be the shortest single generation ever. Not to say it can't happen, but that would be a somewhat frivolous tail wagging the dog.

Which, is supported by how Gamefreak decided to introduce Gen 6 in 2016 instead of making a “Z” version or something like that.

Given the assets that were visibly created for a third Kalos game but never used in one, Game Freak almost certainly did not "decide" that, and it was almost certainly decided for them by virtue of other adjacent elements beyond their control being shifted around.

I don't see a new generation coming out in 2021 with a new coming out in 2019.

2013 Gen 6: XY
2014 Remake: ORAS
2015 nothing
2016 Gen 7: SM
2017 Gen 7: USUM
2018 Let's Go
2019 Gen 8:
2020 Remake: DPPt?
2021 Let's Go 2???
2022 would be the earliest we could see gen 9

Would Gamefreak really make a “Let’s go” for 2021? They must be thinking of doing something really big for the 25th anniversary.
Edit: I realized 2021 would be the 15th anniversary for DP, so DP remake in 2021 is possible as UltimateNinja said.

They might opt for either a DP remake or the "third" games that year.

Although..... I guess a return to Johto (and possibly Kanto post game) might be something they opt for that year.

Plus nothing is stopping them from other big Pokemon releases, like maybe Pokemon Snap2?

A new generation already in 2021? Super unlikely. I even think they'll drag out the 8th gen and making it a 4 years generation or even 5.

Either way 2020 is probably gonna be a year without any new main game because the last four already had games and they usually need a year break, especially now. They could release another Mystery Dungeon game or another spin-off next year. And then 2021 most likely DP remakes and maybe then 2022 a new generation, although like I said they could drag it out a bit more and release something like Lets go 2/Johto in 2022 and then the 9th gen in 2023.

What I would like to see:
2019 - Gen 8
2020 - Gap (Mystery Dungeon + a Colloseum/XD kind of game)
2021 - DP remake
2022 - Gen 8 third version/sequel (also functions as another low effort game to save ressources)
2023 - Surprising main game nobody can predict (like LGPE)
2024 - Gen 9

Hey everyone, Bhrjr here.
One thing I thought of, is what if the first gym leader (or the first type specialist that you battle) specializes in Dragon type? Dragon type is always perceived as strong type, to be fought near the endgame. So wouldn’t it be a big surprise if Dragon type trainer is the first obstacle?

Dude I literally live in a prison country.

I just like the letter Q.

I'm sorry man lol. I grew up in the middle of nowhere myself. I just had to take that course to fulfill degree requirements and I never thought I would have a reason to discuss Canada. Ever lol.

Oddly enough I really enjoyed that course, especially the supplementary literature. What does that say about me?

Interesting thought but I think the earliest a Dragon expert would appear is the third or fourth Gym as not many Ice Pokémon are available very early into the games and the early Fairy Pokémon don’t have moves that can cause enough damage to Dragon types until they are around level 25.

It’s not like they did anything too special in their 15th anniversary apart from that box mascot poll so I don’t know why the 25th anniversary needs to have a new gen.
The 25th anniversary is generally an important one for the most part. It isn’t always the case though as F-Zero and Metroid got nothing special while Mario, Kirby, and Zelda did. The big moneymakers for Nintendo seem to get huge celebrations.

I want to be able to skip the tutorial, I think people would've liked Gen 7 more if we could skip the tutorials. And, as an added bonus, it can add an extra layer to the player character's background:

Do you know how to catch Pokemon? (Yes) Of course, your mom was a powerful trainer back in the day.

Do you know about Pokemon Centers and Pokemarts? (Yes) Now that I think about it, I heard you loved greeting the people who came into the center. That's why you want to be a trainer.

Do you know about gyms? (Duh) Right...sorry. Your folks used to be gym leaders in your home region, right?

One thing I’ve always wanted to see is a Pokémon Gym where the Leader isn’t someone you’d expect them to be. You go to the Gym and a Trainer there tells you that the Gym Leader isn’t there but you could find them at the Pokémon Center. You then have to talk to everyone inside the Center and discover no one admits to being the Leader. You thentalk to Nurse Joy who tells you that she’s the person you are looking for and is the town’s Gym Leader. She then takes you to a special room in the Center and Battles you. If you lose, she’ll tell you that your Pokémon worked hard but need some more training and then says she’ll be happy to heal them. Her ace is obviously a Chansey.

Wow, I was just imagining if you could battle your mom at the end of the game...where she is a really powerful trainer with 6 Pokémon and a mega or something

Would she be a Fairy Type specialist themed around healing?

I think that it'd be interesting you used to live in this region until you moved away at the age of 6-7 then back because your dad passed away. It'd give an established connection to the characters as you kind of remember them while also making the things you learn about them less awkward because 1. it's been at least four years if the pc is ten and they moved when they were 6. and 2. depending on how young the player was they wouldn't really understand what they learned.

Reminds me of an idea a friend had once.

The starting town is on a small island, there are 2 towns on it with the second having a dock taking you to the main part of the region. The starting town island is about twice the size you think it is because the other half isn't accessed till end game when you return to compete in the Pokemon league. Your final battle is against your mother who is the league champion.
