Gen 8 stat buffs for old pokemon?

Pokemon Fan

Knuckle Trainer
Something we've gotten for a couple gens now are boosts to the base stats of pokemon from earlier generations, presumably in an effort to make them more viable battlers (or at least not as weak as before). One can assume this will hold true for the 8 generation games as well.

The buffs tend to be just 10 to 20 point boosts per stat that is buffed, albeit one (Farfeth'd) got a 25 point boost.

Sadly, for most of these it seems it didn't help them all that much, as stats are usually not the only thing holding them back. But its still a nice thing to have, and it at least makes them more usable for story mode.

So basically, what stat increases for old pokemon are you hoping for? Are there any reasonable ones that you think could make a pokemon rise a tier in competitive play?

For me, I'd like to see Rapidash get some stat buffs, like 10 points added to its Attack and Speed stats. Another that comes to mind would be a similar buff for Tauros. Anything to make them more noteworthy than they currently are.

From my main blog:
  1. Bibarel: +10, BST: 410->420.
  2. Mothim/Wormadam: +30, BST: 424->454
  3. Pachirisu: +30, BST: 405->435
  4. Sunflora: +40, BST: 425->465
  5. Purugly: +25, BST: 452->477
  6. Venomoth: +30, BST: 450->480
  7. Sudowoodo: +50, BST: 410->460
  8. Dewgong: +30, BST: 475->505
  9. Garbodor: +25, BST: 474->499
  10. Girafarig: +30, BST: 455->485
  11. Stantler: +20, BST: 465->485
  12. Aromatisse: +20, BST: 462->482
  13. Ludicolo/Shiftry: +10, BST: 480->490
  14. Swoobat: +30, BST: 425->455
  15. Gothitelle/Reuniclus: +10, BST: 490->500
  16. Golem: +20, BST: 495->515
  17. Beheeyem :+20, BST: 485->505
  18. Spiritomb: +30, BST: 485->515

Individual stats don't matter to me much, since most species that get stat buffs are rendered useless competitively, as confirmed by their non-presence in in-game battling facilities.

Back when Tigers used to smoke.
They need to give a buff to Poliwrath. The superhero badass of Red's team in Adventures has been living in Politoed's shadow too long! Preferably a 10+ to his HP, ATK, and SPD.

I quite like Fairy Queen's list. I don't necessarily mind low stats - I think weaker, forgettable Pokémon have an important role to play in creating a believable ecosystem, so to speak - and I don't think buffs should be evenly spread across stats.

Where I wholeheartedly approve of boosts is in instances where species either lack focus or have fallen behind to the point where they can no longer fulfil their own niche. Gen 1 is the most obvious offender for this kind of thing; base 90 in a given stat looked solidly above-average 20 years ago, and now it gets you laughed out of town if you actually intend to do anything - to think that Tauros once ran rampant with 100 base Attack and no items!

Even worse are the Gen 1 species, often Water types, that don't so much have awful BSTs as useless distribution. Golduck, Dewgong, Poliwrath - all terrible generalists with only minor niches in their movepools. 10/15pts in a single stat won't make these unfortunates any good, but they will at least be able to claim some definition in lower tiers.

im not on the gen 8 train at all and i havent thought of getting a Switch but there are some pokemon to get stat buffs. Farfetch'd +15->20 in speed and Bellssom +15 in health.
