Probably no, I think its just a D/P thing.

IMO, if this game relates to D/P then I would be very annoyed if they didn't. Stadium 2 had genders and shinies like G/S/C, Colosseum/XD had Natures and Abilities like R/S/E, so why wouldn't they incorporate the sprite gender differences from D/P in this game? If they didn't it would be
due to sheer laziness, and nothing else.
