• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Ok, what's up with that guy at Haina Desert? I thought he was talking about Solgaleo but after listening to his description it sounds like he's talking about Solrock. But Solrock isn't available currently...

So in the end do you guys see Gladion as a rival in the end?

I felt as if Hau and Gladion were less of rivals and more like foils to one another. Honestly both of their best pieces of characterisation happened when they were near one another, and it works pretty well. Their literal opposites, Hau is laidback and enthusiastic while Gladion's serious and 'edgy'. I quite liked it actually.

Guzma is still the best though. Ya boi is clean :^].

Apparently people keep saying that Lillie has a crush on the MC but I can't find any clear sources for that or any moments to it.
I guess the cut scene at Executor Island was what you would call a shipping moment depending on how you look at it but it seems that Lillie interacts the same for both male and female MC so I'm not sure about that.

Hey, we don't judge.

Joking aside, it definally felt like she has the hots for the male MC at very least.

I feel like the relationship was more complete and utter admiration; since you showed her so much.

With just a little pushing it could turn romantic, but the game never went that far I don't think. It's up to the player to decide if they ship the two together.

Hau's the only one with a gigantically obvious crush imo.

Story and characters were great. I don't even think the gameplay suffered to much for it except for the last island. Lillie was so moe it hurt lol.

It is most definitely solrock. there's a video somewhere in yt but i'm new here and i don't know if it's against the rules. just look it up. :)

Just saw it (BTW, you're allowed to post links here, you just have to make ten posts first).

... That was weird.

I've seen looked up hints about Lillie and the MC and it mostly shows her admiring him/her including:
- The diary in Kukui's lab.
- Exeggutor Island (although the one feels debatable depending on what you think she said afterwards)
- Fireworks scene.

I'm still unsure about her having a crush on the main character but oh well, prove me wrong guys.

Yeah, true.
Generally, Lillie's admiration was made to fit for any gender character in the game but if you ask me, it feels like the developers catered it towards the male character more.

That's probably why the cut-scenes are more effective if you play as him.

I thought of that too. Lillie was admiring the MC more than anything but it feels strongly hinted if you play as the male lead. That's why I play as him. haha.

I think Hau was just upset because he had lost a friend. He pretty much calls anyone a friend if he has a battle with them. Even Gladion is considered a friend to Hau.

Are there even any differences between the male and female characters line wise?
Usually this stuff is purely aesthetic. I played as the girl so I don't know what the male one is like throughout the story. I took a quick look at shofu's playthrough and nothing really stuck out tome as different on the exgecutor island. Granted I'd need them side by side to make sure but...

Hau's lines when referring to Lillie are very suspect lmao

Maybe it's just a friendship but the choice words make me think there might be something a bit more, I dunno.

"But..but...I haven't gotten to say much of anything I've wanted to say to you!"

And then he says he's going to write her one letter, not communicate with her, but one really long letter, as if he's trying to tell her something.

It's just weird I guess, I suppose there could be other interpretations but i feel like the intention was strongly hinted.

I'd bring in previous lines and context as well (hau on lillie's new look? I think there was something there? And him knowing her for longer is interesting too) . I myself did get a vibe from both sides. But I rarely try to go farther with these things.

So far, I can say this.

Hau is an adorable cinnamonroll who must not come to harm.
Lillie isn't doing much, but is still adorable.
Kukui is a mixture of a bundle of laughter and smashing my head on a desk.
Colress is... Colress. With a weird outfit.
Ilima is satirical and I love it.
Lana is adorable.
Kiawe is a mix of cool and plain ridiculous.
Mallow is... eh.
Gladion is the F**KING EDGELORD AND I LOVE IT.
Plumeria is sassy as hell.
Lusamine is already at the manic yandere phase for UB01, and I LOVE IT.

So yeah that's about it so far.

Just got to reading Lillie's diary. Aside from her hilarious comment on Kukui not being fully clothed, she also questions if it's a style there in a Alola, like she's not native to the region.

That makes me question... Where is she and her family from?

Keep in mind Lusamine sheltered both her and Gladion before the events of the story. It is possible she never left the Aether Foundation and wasn't aware of Alolan customs

I don't think they are natives. Hau mentions that the Aether Foundation is just a branch in Alola. It's entirely possible that the family is from somewhere else. Or even that they have travelled non-stop because of the Aether
Foundation. We know for a fact they have lived in Sinnoh for some time at least.

Quite true. They could be from anywhere in Pokeworld, really.

I have to say that I like all the characters in this game, and I think GF did a great job with the character developments, even after the main game.
But I agree that Mallow is kinda... generic, compared to the rest of them. Even compared to Mina.

My personal favorite is Professor Kukui. Best professor ever.
I also like Officer Nanu. I initially thought that he's just a one-off character when he showed up, but he's got more character than Olivia and Hala, imo.

I hated Lusamine, which is a good thing considering her role in the game. It only proved that GF made an effective characterization.
Lillie is cute, but I can understand why some people have a love-hate relationship with her.

Hau and Gladion's interactions with each other are some of the best moments in the game.

Guzma is Guzma. Just plain awesome.

Looker is the same as always.
Anabel's role in this game is a little surprising. But I'm glad they still threw a reference to her background.

Oak felt like he's just put there for the heck of it. And for the Apricorn balls.

Also, I'm very disappointed that Youngster Joey uses Metapod. Alolan Joey should've used Alolan Rattata.

This is correct. Lillie grew up in the Aether Paradise so she wasn't born elsewhere (from her dialogue about the bed she slept in when she was younger), or at least she was likely too young to remember. Also remember she didn't dress herself, Lusamine dressed her so it makes sense she has no idea about the style of Alola.

I don't understand why so many people hate Lillie, but then again, her character development arc had quite a bit in common with my high school years and it resonated quite a bit.
