So am I the only one who doesn't mind the female player`s hat? I seriously don't get some of the complaints

I'm okay with the hat. A bit of a wierd choice but i don't see anything exactly "wrong" with it. (Looked better to me after seeing it in the Selection screen)

So I mentioned in the gym leaders-elite four thread on how I believe that this picture is of importance-http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab275/crystalphoenix98/alolagymleadersmaybeidk.png
I remember for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon they dropped a lot of Easter eggs and hints to Pokemon so I was wondering that perhaps they did the same with this one. I now believe the silhouettes are important and they are important characters in the game.
Specifically since the boy arrives to Hawaii just like our character arrives to Alola, our mother wears a similar dress to the mom in the game as seen here:http://media1.gameinformer.com/file...do2016/pokemon/sun-moon/25things/happymom.jpg

In the silhouette it shows a person in shorts named Hoku and in the games there is a green haired guy wears shorts too which I believe is our rival and is named Hoku. I believe the boys battling was mirroring what we will encounter in the games such as the green haired boy is our rival and his name is Hoku who is nice to us since we are new to the region and battles us along the way. I feel it mirrors with the boy from the trailer who is a native to Hawaii and is named Hoku and chooses the weak starter pokemon just like the green haired guy who chooses the weaker starter, plus Hoku means star in Hawaiian which could be a good name for the rival since we are playing in pokemon sun and moon. This could mean Caitlin,Pablo and Ed are important characters as well, in the end I feel I might be overanalysing this stuff but I just wanted to get it out there.

I find it to be weird myself. I'm not really sure what it's supposed to be.

The female trainers hat is clearly an udder cap or rooster crest. Seriously though, they may be trying to imitate Hibiscus petals on the hat.

So this will be the third time our player character moves to the region in the beginning of the game (Hoenn, Kalos and now Alola)

...was it ever explained where the protagonist had lived before moving to Kalos?

Maybe it will be left open here as well...

Not gonna lie, definitely digging the idea of a fit, shirtless Prof.

Not just you ;-)

I think that the games don't need trainer customization as the main character looks fine as it. I am interested to know the name of the main characters.

I think someone on Tumblr has been referring to them as "Sonny" and "Luna" at the moment. Most protagonist names have a theme (such as Calem and Serena meaning calm and serene, Nate and Rosa from B2/W2's names made up "resonate", Hilbert/Hilda in B/W contains a word meaning "battle", Lucas/Dawn refer to light) so maybe we might see something relating to a theme in the game, and I recall the first Ranger game had its protagonists' names (Lunick, Solana) named after words meaning sun and moon.

Do we know which one is the professor yet?

Initially, and still currently, I thought the old guy, Hala, was the professor.. but some have been saying that Kukui is the professor, who I see more as being Prof Hala's assistant?

From observation, Kukui is the one who welcomes us and the one who will be on the opening introduction, but Hala is the one who gives us the starters.

They can both be Professors. Each have their own field of research just like Aurea Juniper, her father Cedric Juniper, and Fennel.

But looking more closely, Hala is not even wearing a lab coat. I'd say It's Prof. Kukui.

I really hope it's the young man, Kukui. People haven't seem to consider it but the old man may be his father or grandpa, Juniper had a father appear in-game that served some relevance.

Eh, life is a game.

While this seems very plausible, it's also possible that Kukui is still a professor in training.

So is the guy in the black shirt our rival? like Barry, Hugh etc? Or another companion perhaps? I only say this coz in the Japanese trailer he uses the starter thats weak to ours. Ofcourse this could and is
probably just beta footage but Im still intrigued either way.

The way I interpreted it is..

Hala is the professor, but perhaps due to his old age he sends his assistant Kukui to welcome us and escort/instruct us to go to Prof Hala who then gives us the starters.

Hala's lack of labcoat may be because he is old and experienced and thus, in a traditional hawaiian way, is relaxed enough to not care about wearing one anymore. Whereas Kukui, being an assistant and aspiring professor, still wears his to help him look the part.

So yeah like Prof Hala is relaxed enough to not bother wearing a lab coat, whereas Kukui may be a bit more by-the-book as an assistant and thus still wears his.

This. We have it mentioned all of the time in previous games as to how the professors know eachother, and we had Oak appear in all the Gen IV games, with Elm seemingly being taught by him.

So it would be great to see that with our own eye!
