I feel like there's good reasons why the government shouldn't have so many online surveillance rights, but I'm having a hard time coming up with them. The one that comes to mind is feeling more guilty when I ask my tech friends to torrent stuff for me.

In all honesty i don't care about the NSA as long as it isn't used as a tool against me or the people at large. I'd like to also believe that the government has little to no interest in me whatsoever and even if they did, the surveillance gathered of my activities wouldn't really do them much good. I'm just one of those garden variety law-abiding citizens who loves his country and his peace and quiet. Does it mean i'm ok with groups spying on people in the United States? To an extent. I'm not so gullible to think that people don't watch you, which is why i wasn't surprised about the leaks. Basically, i'm ok with the government watching the populace if it's for the sake of protecting the populace from danger. My main concern out of it all is the question of "Who watches the Watchers?".

Political Parties suck. Go independent!

To be fair, I think that if more people a. knew anything about independent politicians or b. felt like their votes would matter if they voted for them, most people in this country would vote for an independent, because I don't think most people fall perfectly in line with the platform of the Republican or Democratic Parties. In fact, most people I know who are lefties would probably be closer to Bernie Sanders politically than most, if not all, of the current stable of Dems in office.

I'm not saying to vote independent, more so your last point of falling in line with one party or another. Don't be tied down by a platform and vote the way you see fit. I used to be a Republican myself but always had more moderate tendencies which put me at odds with my party. That and i look at some of the Republicans trying to placate the Tea Party into assimilation is a terrible move. I'm pretty a moderate if anything. Fiscally conservative for the most part, but differ in some aspects. Social issues i'm half and half. Could never see myself personal joining the Democratic Party after having left the Republicans. Especially when the hierarchy is run by a bunch of bleeding hearts and dimwits who i personally can't stand. Another thing i meant by my statement was individuals>party at large. I hate how some people just blindly vote for their party candidate even if that candidate doesn't adhere to what they believe. Especially hate this reason for joining a political party: I joined because x person in my family was a [insert party], which is fine if you can provide some reasoning a long with it i guess. The statement at face value makes it feel like you don't have a voice in the matter, if you get what i mean.

For the past couple of years, I've been wondering if I should've just signed up as an Independent instead of Republican, even though I see myself as a conservative in some areas, and in others a libertarian. Politics is messy, but so vital to learn it's more fascinating than frustrating to me (even though the amount of ignorant people on both sides of the aisle is staggering). It's probably the biggest necessary evil in the world, if you ask me.

Outside of politics, I recently found out Disneyland closed down (or is about to close down) Mr. Toad's Wild Ride 8(. I guess it was bound to happen, but it's still very sad to hear.

I find the concept that people just vote because of political party and how that's terrible to be a bit silly. Generally if you dislike pretty much the entire platform of another political party there is no reason to want to vote for them period. In fact you are going to want to to vote for whoever has the best chance of beating them, so they don't enact that platform you dislike. Unless you are in the middle, you're probably going to want to vote either R or D just because of that. It's the flaw of the two party system.

Personally I prefer to think of the voting process as voting against people I don't like instead of voting for ones I do.

This applies to the U.S. mind you, other countries have different systems. (in case it wasn't obvious)

Never been to Disneyland, always gone to Disneyworld, but yeah, it's always sad when you have those old classic rides get replaced. I felt the same way when they revamped Star Tours at Disneyworld/EPCOT. Watched some POV's of it and was surprised at how it was so happy go lucky then goes straight to hell..literally.
