Considering these are games that take place in a region whose first games had trainer customization, I expect the feature to return! I'm so happy, especially after May was such a disappointment for me.

I'm so hyped for these. I hope we'll get trials for the Z-crystals which didn't get them in the original, like Icium Z. Finding them by the side of the road cheapens the island challenge and the Z-crystals being somewhat special and actually earned.

I expect more Alolan forms to show up (extended to all generations), possibly more Megas, Necrozma's role to be really expanded, characters to switch role, personality or both (ex.: Lillie and Gladion switched, Lusamine being good and Guzma being truly evil, Hau being more arrogant/confident, etc.), possibly the League to be already established (which means maybe the return of Gyms, a confirmed Champion as head of the League, etc.) OR redone trials to make them more challenging/interesting, character redesigns and a whole lot more.
I want this version to be a memorable pair to S/M. :3

Considering it looked like there were some new styles on the base trainer sprites I'm sure we will.

Well, there is definitely excitement. And by that I mean so much excitement I began shaking after first watching the Pokemon Direct live.
So, my speculations so far:
-Nobody cares for the WiiU anymore, as proven by the Switch in the background.
-The Pikachu campervan is playing a role, although I'm clueless as to what since I don't see how a field of Pikachu could impact the plot. I'm curious as to why they're showing us this I n the trailer, actually.
-As far as I could see, Hala wasn't standing behind MC there, and the starters are all cheering for joy at something off-screen. I am clueless on this, but I think it may be Hala?
-Lycanroc jumping down implies it has a more relevant role here. The most minor change I can think of is that they've switched a totem Pokemon round.
-Mimikyu is showing off what's under the cape. This is really intriguing to me. Why would it be doing that?
-The biggy. Why and how can Solgaleo and Lunala both fuse with Necrozma? I'm not gonna speculate on that, it's way too early and I'm utterly clueless.
-More Pokemon? Or more forms? That's really fascinating.

Yep. Although I'm expecting clothing choices to be like the first games where it's all warmer weather wear, I'm expecting these games options to be revamped after seeing the protags being completely redesigned. Perhaps colors will be version exclusive again. I could definitely see it happening if Festival Plaza comes back.

Hau becoming more of the rival that we all wanted him to be would be a great change. Maybe he actually picks the right starter this time around!
Frankly I was shocked Midday/Midnight Lycanroc weren't version exclusive Totems in the OG games.

Maybe they'll add some stuff for colder weather as well, adding a shop in Tapu Village for the snow mountain (sorry forgot the name, where the League is). Not everyone is as hot as Kukui after all!

Pikachu is the franchise mascot. Do they need any other reason to show off a field of Pikachu?
All in seriousness, though, that field might play a role in the games. Who knows?What if the focus on Lycanroc, Mimikyu, and Togedemaru in the trailer means the three of them are getting new exclusive Z-moves? That would certainly be interesting.

Hopefully they add back the Pokemon follows you. Different Pokeride Pokemon would be great too.

I'd love it if the Fly Poke-ride was actually a new evolved form of Delibird, since it's the delivery Pokemon. Upon evolving, it can be upgraded to "deliver" people to their destinations instead of just items.
