Game of the year: Tears of the Kingdom. Only got to play some of it since it was a rental, but what I did play was fun. Definitely hoping to get it this year if it goes on sale.

Worst Game: Don't really have one.

Biggest Surprise: Sea of Stars and Children of Morta

Game of the year runner up: Sea of Stars

Might have to give Sea of Stars a try. Heard from some friends that it's really good and harkens back to some classic RPGs.

Yea it kind of reminds me of GoldenSun. Just starting the game and like it so far.

Bandai Namco is seriously one of the, if not the, worst companies out there. Maybe if you would stop making **** that nobody cares about in the form of anime games, and anime fighting games and stop beating the over-saturated and beaten dead horse known as fighting games and stop ****ing simping for SAO when .hack is infinitely better you wouldn't have a 96% decrease in profits. Just a thought. But no. You want to actively kill your actually good franchises like Digimon, Klonoa, and .hack (.hack is already dead for good but you get my point) and keep putting out this **** that nobody wants, is ****, and nobody is playing. Alright then. I'll have no sympathy then when you implode.

But what the hell do I know? Clearly I'm the dumbass here.

Can everyone please stop doom and glooming and crying 'NEXT VIDEO GAME CRASH' for f's sake? I'm not saying it's going on in this specific forum (of course then again maybe it is I don't check every thread on here) but I'm just seeing this a lot in many places and I'm getting sick of it honestly.

Do the layoffs suck? Yes. Is it scummy and ridiculous? Yes. But stop pulling evidence out of your ass or is just taken from click-baiting YouTubers (who also took said evidence out of their ass) and claiming another video game crash is coming. There's is no solid evidence to suggest this in any way whatsoever. It's just outright sickening.

Pump the brakes for f's sake. But whatever. Again clearly I'm the dumbass here

As someone who has worked in the gaming industry, I can say for certain that while a crash isn't coming, things aren't looking good for the industry as a whole.

Now, Nintendo is good. They're always good. lol Nothing's happening to them. It's Microsoft and Sony who carry the burden of production. This is due to the fact that neither company are dedicated to gaming, like Nintendo. They each have subsidiaries for gaming, and when their principal duties require more funding, they will take from the underperforming subsidiaries.

Xbox Game Studios has seen a whirlwind of change since its inception as Microsoft Games nearly 25 years ago. According to recent annual revenue reports, software sales are only just now starting to see an upwards trend into profitable territory since the franchise's decline in 2016. While this is undoubtedly a good thing, it also puts the studio in a tight spot to perform well or die out. They simply cannot afford to mess up.

This is likely why Microsoft laid off so many people in 2023. Department restructure is often the go-to solution to maintain productivity within a company. They didn't just fire a bunch of people, but they promoted several people as well. Their aim is to ensure this growth of theirs does not teeter out.

While Sony's own layoffs are part of their gaming studio's restructuring, they are not seeing the same upwards trend as Xbox, and thus their restructure is an attempt to gain productivity, not keep it. This makes Nintendo the only of the three oligarchs to stay entirely afloat throughout the last decade, even with their own dip in 2015. They have seen the largest revenue spikes of the three companies, thanks to the impressive sales of the Nintendo Switch and Pokémon's global return to glory.

Combine this will all the mergers, and you have one hell of an unbalanced industry. It was already bad enough that only three companies dominated the gaming world for so long; now it's just one. If Sony and Microsoft don't get their s*** together soon, it could cause a pretty mean ripple effect in the industry.

Gonna post here because no one seems to care about what I post on the Switch thread. How do you all feel about what Nintendo is currently doing with their Directs for this year? So far, all we've gotten is a Partner Showcase in February and an Indie World in April. No new first-party games for the second half of 2024. Well, technically we got the announcement of Pokemon Legends Z-A, but that's in 2025.

Wow. That plan of theirs to delay Switch 2 to March 2025 is going so well for them and totally isn't blowing up in their face.

Who was it again that said it would blow up in their face? I... um... can't quite remember........

*notices that has his own hand raised*

Oh... yeah... that's right...

In all seriousness they have no one to blame but themselves.

Great discussion going on here about video games! Speaking of customizing gaming experiences, I recently discovered a fantastic tool for anyone who's into RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons. It's called the Token Maker, and it allows you to create custom tokens for your characters with unique borders and overlays.

While we're sharing cool finds and game recommendations, I thought I'd mention this tool because it can really enhance your virtual tabletop sessions. Imagine having custom tokens that represent your favorite characters perfectly—it adds a whole new level of immersion.

For those who love tweaking and personalizing their games, Token Maker provides a seamless user experience. You can drag and drop images, customize borders, and even share your tokens directly to platforms like Imgur or Facebook. It's been a game-changer for my D&D sessions, and I think it could be a great addition to any RPG enthusiast's toolkit.

Anyway, just wanted to share this with you all. Keep the great conversations going!

I feel I should share this after what I've been throught lately.

All I really wanted was to enjoy something and being around other people who also loved that something, but fate hasn't been kind on me, things derailed in a really brutal way and that something I love has become hated by the mass for the pettiest possible reasons. I tried to look everywhere for other people who loved Nintendo games, old or new that are, as much as I do, but I found nothing but hate against them, and hate completely founded on lies spredt by people full of hate, and others fell for their sick words, and I've even been deemed multiple times as an horrible person, for the sole reason of liking those games. And now I really feel like if I'm the only non-Japanese person on the planet who still loves Nintendo's games... seriously: I don't know one, I say ONE person on the web who loves Nintendo's games as much as I do, and it's depressing...

I don't like to feel alone, but at the same time, I don't want to feel oppressed and come to hate what I love only to fit in the mass. After much deliberation, I understood which of the two things is the least bad for me, and I've made a decision: after Metroid Prime 4, the last game in my purchase list (release date wise), comes out next year, I'm quitting not only gaming, but the internet as whole. And for good measure, as soon I know the release date of Metroid Prime 4, I will take the distances from everything from the internet, and never use it for entertainment or social purposes ever again.

Mine could sound extremism, but I just have no choice. Everyone else, including people I knew and considered friends, fell for the hate against Nintendo games, and I'm not gonna fall for that too. Nobody can tell me what should I like or not, and if to preserve everything I loved, I have to renounce to what will come in the future, and talk to other people... then so be it...

If gamefreak ever incorporates the "Pokemon Master" title element into future pokemon games, perhaps the prerequisites could be the following;

-Completing the gym badge quest

-Defeating the elite four and regional champion

-Catching all existing pokemon that can be caught

-Leveling up and maximizing your "relation-bond" with all existing pokemon you’ve caught

Then after completing the above requirements, trainers (players) then must visit a special shrine which is said to be the location of where a sacred legendary pokemon (could be Ho-OH or some new pokemon) once hailed, a pokemon that is revered throughout the world by both people and pokemon and only reveals itself to trainers it considers worthy.

This pokemon will only appear if players complete the pokemon master prerequisite, as described above. Once the special legendary pokemon appears, it test’s the player’s (pokemon trainers) skill and bond with their pokemon through a battle.

After the battle, the special legendary pokemon will assess the trainers qualities based on its relationship with their pokemon during the battle, and if the trainer passes the assessment the special legendary pokemon will allow for the trainer to catch it, thus symbolizing its respect and admiration to want to be the player’s pokemon and partner.

If this special pokemon enables the player to catch it, then the player obtains the title of pokemon master after showcasing this capture to the appropriate pokemon researcher (perhaps Professor Oak or someone just as well-recognized) and the pokemon league administrators for documentation and acknowledgement of the said feat, which gives acclamatation to the players status of being considered a pokemn master for the accomplishment along with mastery of pokemon battles after being a regional champion and catching all existing pokemon in the game.

The player’s in game title of “pokemon trainer” is then changed to pokemon master.

just an idea.

Apologies for the double post but I'm posting this in here again as well. My Bold Predictions for 2025. If you care... all of my Bold Predictions for 2024 were incorrect. But that's not going to stop me from trying again lol

Mega's Bold Predictions for 2025:

1. Persona 6 will be released
2. Pokemon Generation 10 will come out in 2025
3. There will FINALLY be Kingdom Hearts 4 news AT SOME POINT
4. There is no Video Game Crash in 2025 *waves hand like I'm doing the Jedi mind trick or some *****

Yes I know about the report/leaks about 2 not happening. I'll believe it won't happen when I see it for myself. 4 is my yearly 'controversial' one and response to all the BS about this being the case all through the year. Because that's all it is... BS
