That's been me for years, for what it's worth. Rarely got games day 1. Usually got them on sale or for my birthday or as a Christmas gift.

The only games I consistently get on day 1 are the Pokémon games. I pay for them through preorders at least two months before release. The only other games I got on day 1 were highly anticipated entries for series that I really like and wanted to play immediately. Those I try to buy using the Switch Online vouchers if I can.

I buy sporadically, whenever I have enough money left after paying the bills. Yesterday I bought Kirby star allies so I could have a fun brightly colored relaxing platformer I could play with my boyfriend. It's arriving today. I still haven't bought legends Arceus, I am planning that for a summer purchase, July or August. If things are going well financially I might consider legends ZA for Christmas but more probably Johnny will get me that for Valentine's

I love Kirby Star Allies! Haven’t played with anyone else but it’s still a pretty good game to play by yourself. I almost 100% it but the final thing you need to do in order to achieve 100% is pretty difficult to do given the mode.

Summer gaming event season is here again already. Rumored State of Play and rumored Nintendo Direct for June. Always best to wait for official confirmation for those things obviously.

Then of course... there's Summer Games Fest.

Am I hoping for things? Of course I am. But I'm doing the same thing as always... keeping my expectations low so I'm not burned.

The most reliable of the gaming leakers, Nate the Hate, said that he hasn't heard of any Nintendo Direct coming anytime soon.... good lord, how much longer do I have to wait to be able of preordering the game on Amazon?

Seeing all those Japanese games on the State of Play the other day was very refreshing, usually it's western AAA title after western AAA title. Digimon Time Stranger (which I'm picking up as well) in the same month as Legends ZA is some unfortunate timing. On rival platforms no less.

I gotta be honest: I... I didn't expect the Summer Game Fest to have that many games of mine interest. Other than Marvel Cosmic Invasion which I was going to buy regardless, thanks to this event I now have eyes for Sonic Racing Crossworld, Mina the Hollower and Scott Pilgrim EX. As I said multiple times, I'm gonna retire from gaming, my plan was to stop looking at gaming sites after the release date of Metroid Prime 4 (which I will buy rigorously on Switch 1 since I will never get Switch 2 for multiple reasons), but ever since I tried the Nintendo Today app, I understood I don't need them anymore, whenver the release date will be announced, it will be said on that app, but before I stopped, I decided to watch the summer gaming events, to see if maybe something of my taste that would come to Steam, would be revealed last minute and... I'm happy I did it. My pact stands: after this Sunday I will stop permanently looking at gaming sites permanently, but I'm still glad I gave a shot to these events before I go.

We probably will. Project Bloom AKA Beast of Reincarnation was announced back in like 2023 or even earlier and had a release window of FYE March 2026. So assuming nothing has changed it'll be out in less than a year. Also I believe this is Game Freak's other team developing the game. Lots of outsourcing involved.

Didn't they outsource some development for their recent games? It would explain some things.

Unless it's being handled by a different team entirely I don't think so. I think that Gen 10 might actually come in 2027 now, leaving 2026 as a gap year.

I’ve been playing TotK again and finally got all of the Purah Pad upgrades and managed to get some good gear from Amiibo including two Biggoron Swords and a Fierce Deity Sword and two thirds of its armor plus a couple of full Armor sets.

The problem has been, and always was, Nintendo.

There's also the fact that the franchise (Pokemon) is now more of a merch company than a video game company. The video games really only exist for them to make more merch.

I just completed Hyrule Castle and got the Charged Armor set. I’m currently working my way to the Thunderhead Temple. After that I’m going make progre on the Spirit Sage quest.
