General Video Game Discussion Silver Version

While that particular reasoning is stupid, there were almost no woman serving actual combat roles in World War 1, so unless they were going to have a bunch of factories or hospital tents, it would have been out of place.

  2. Recon

    Recon 11001101011101010100

At this point, is there any reason to have that kind of historical accuracy? Games are a fantasy setting, you can take some liberties with some aspects to provide a more engaging experience, gender being a minor example. Unless these are actual historical figures you're playing as, I don't see any reason to make all playable characters one gender.

It depends on what you're going for. I'm all for gender equality, but I'm not for forcing the issue, whether that's forcing male or female characters. A WW1 game with women soldiers doesn't make much sense, but a war game set in the modern era should absolutely have women soldiers, not having any wouldn't make sense.

Having said that, had they included women it's not like I would have grabbed a pitchfork or anything.

Can't really fault them on this. The gameplay itself is more important than your you're playing as.

  5. Recon

    Recon 11001101011101010100

I don't see how having female playable character would detract from the gameplay. In fact, I'd think it would enhance it a bit more.

I mean, focusing on making the gameplay better than forcing in female characters in a game where it isn't history accurate. Iirc, for the most, there were only a few female fighters in the war. mostly from Russia and mostly air fighters.

tbh not having the french in BF1 is insulting to me. They were a huge part in the war.

So WW1 shooter, then future shooter, then future shooter again. Ehh skip all for me. Picking up Dragon Quest Builders, World of FF, and The Last Guardian instead. PSVR also.

    I think it's been a while since we got a WW1 shooter.

  10. Recon

    Recon 11001101011101010100

Yet based on the article, the tanks and parachutes are used in the game aren't historically accurate. If they're going to change those aspects to improve gameplay, then why not devote a few resources to create a female character model to use in multiplayer. It's 2016. There should be no excuses for having no female avatars.

Yeah, if they aren't gonna be 100% accurate with vehicles and objects and stuff, might as well add female soldiers too. At the very least, make some medics females.

The Last Guardian Collector's Edition is up. Instantly grabbed that. October is gonna be such an expensive gaming month for me ugghh

Because it's not really a big deal. Are you not going to buy the game because of this aspect? I'm not against the inclusion but I am against pestering dice over since their games are already full of bugs at launch. Last thing they need is someone (not necessarily you) starting a why didn't that add campaign. We might as well take it further and ask why aren't they adding Canadians or the French to the game if we are going to complain.

Also adding females medics would definitely cause an uproar if that was the only role they could play.

  13. The Admiral

    The Admiral solid state survivor

Actually, there are a lot of people who would choose not to buy it over not including playable female characters.

But don't worry, the announcer has a feminine voice! And apparently people on Reddit hate it, so things might work out in the end.

France was a part of the Triple Entente that formed the original Allied Powers, though. Why the hell aren't they in this game?

EA published this game, not Ubisoft /badjokes

  15. Recon

    Recon 11001101011101010100

See I was going to say that but I felt it didn't even deserve mention.

    Some standouts imo are....

    Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed – $17.99, $14.99
    Battlefield 4 – $4.79
    Battlefield Hardline – $4.79
    Dragon Ball Xenoverse – $15.99, $11.99
    Megadimension Neptunia VII – $17.99, $11.99
    Omega Quintet – $5.99, $3.99

Akiba is a decent beatem up and it's awesome if you like the anime convention type scene.
Bf4 is a good online shooter and well worth the 5 bucks, even if you only play on and off for an hour or so.
Xenoverse is good but I'd personally wait for 2
Megadimension is a steal for 12 bucks considering I paid 90 for Limited Edition >.>
Omega Quintet has a really shitty battle feature that lets foes break the turn order later in the game but outside of that, it's a decent moe jrpg that is about J-pop idols saving the world from destruction

    Got Alien Isolation, Omega Quintet, NepVII, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Lego Batman 3, all for nearly $40. I'm mad my Fractured But Whole pre-order isn't applied to the "Spend $100 get $15 back" deal though since I preordered on Monday instead of Tuesday >:{

Didn't you said you had Neptunia preordered a while back? Or maybe that was Senran, I can't remember

  19. The Admiral

I already own MGSV on PS4 and Mega Man Legacy Collection, I guess I'm fine until Eyes of Heaven comes out.

Still waiting for them to release more Armored Core games as PS1 classics, among a small handful of other things.

  20. Abstinence Pistols

    Abstinence Pistols Fahrvergnugen

Overwatch has been a ton of fun lately. New Unreal Tournament is great, too. Who knew there were so many good FPS games coming out right now.

And holy ****, I didn't even realize, Zero Escape 3 comes out in less than two ****ing weeks. I didn't think it would even happen. It's been three years since I finished VLR and that game absolutely destroyed me (even if it got really stupid at times). I can't wait to finally see the end. It's going to be kind of sad given how long it's been but it'll be so worth it.
