Night Terror
Generation Omega
The NoTek Age
In 2010, a new step forward in crime prevention was given a new boost with the arrest of Giovanni Rocket. The business man was finally caught out and identified as the leader of criminal organisation Team Rocket after a number of undercover investigations. With their ring leader permanently locked down Team Rocket split apart at the seams and the end result was lots of small gangs, that were quickly mopped up and locked up. Some of the more talented and intelligent members fled underground. There they worked on more involving projects, the scientific experiments that are deemed highly illegal and the creation of weaponry to be sold on the black market.
One of these was an exploration of chemical weapons. Pathogens that could be used to infect large groups of people and inflict a number of ill symptoms or even cause death. It was one of these weapons that would change the world in the coming months. Further police investigations led to the discovery of the hidden labs, where a fight broke out. While some of the Rockets fought hand to hand, others fought with pokemon. Various sample tubes were destroyed in the resulting fight and one particular gas released into the atmosphere. It was code named 'Omega'. Inhaled by all those in the room, human and pokemon alike, for a time, it had no effect.
A month or so later, the pokemon that initially inhaled the pathogen began to exhibit extreme illness. It were as though they were breaking down on the cellular level. Soon, other cases began to crop up the world over, and mankind was faced with a disaster. The main factor that made Omega so dangerous was what it actually did to it's victims. There was confusion at first as to why only pokemon were suffering, when humans had clearly inhaled the carcinogen. The virus had been created as a means of biological warfare, to be placed in small detonations devices to knock out groups of pokemon. Studies found that the virus was latching onto the chromosomes, pokemon possessed that allowed them to attack as they did. Since humans did not possesses these capabilities the virus quickly died without their bodies forming antibodies.
In pokemon themselves, the virus quickly worked to break down these genes, leaving the pokemon incapable of defending or attacking. Since that is what is was designed to do, it was a success. But the virus quickly mutated as pokemon tried to fight it off with abilities like Refresh and Serene Grace. Soon the virus was attacking their cells directly, practically pulling them apart and breaking them down cell by cell. It was a massively painful process, and the deaths witnessed were horrific and mentally scarring. Unable to develop any form of cure, the extinction of pokemon kind was upon them. The top scientists of the world were brought in to work alongside the Rockets who created it. An antidote was impossible to synthesis in time, so a drastic step was taken. A fledgling technology was introduced into the pokemon biology. Nano-technology. Microscopic robots that could be programmed to perform tasks in amazing time were used to rebuild cells faster than they were decaying.
Still, pokemon were permanently infected, and so could not live without the Nano-technology, or NoTek as it became commonly known. While mankind took the time needed to develop a cure, the world began to change in response to the new technology, and the new pokemon. Pokemon themselves adapted to the nano's faster than expected, and even in birth, new nano's were passed from mother to child. Since the virus initially attacked their attack chromosomes, these were reinforced by the NoTek more so than anything else. The technology increased the strength and ability of the genes, and gave pokemon the ability to create, utilise and perform more than every before.
The world embraced the new form of battling by creating new technologies to go along with it. Silph flourished, as the initially supporter of the NoTek, they scrapped the Pokeball series and replaced it with the Alpha and Beta balls. One Beta Ball alone could store twelve pokemon, while the more expensive Alpha Ball could hold a total of thirty. A trainer would have a wrist worn device that could produce a holographic screen, designed to provide any information needed. During battle with another trainer, this would show a screen listing all the pokemon' stats better than any device in the past would have.
Gym Battles and Elite Matches took on a whole new meaning, and the world entered a new age. The NoTek Age. During a battle, pokemon can now, not only attack as they once did but learn attacks and techniques never thought possible. They can affect a whole area of the battle field, they can even inhibit attacks or pokemon of certain types from even being brought into play. The rules remain the same, a pokemon that is unable to battle counts as a loss and the trainer with the last pokemon standing wins, but these days, it's a lot more complex than just that.
A New Generation
Since pokemon battling has become so high tech and advanced, the minimum age for becoming a pokemon trainer has increased to sixteen, not only was this deemed safest, but it also massively decreases the amount of poorly educated children out on the roads alone. After the invention of the Beta and Alpha Ball, trainers are now able to carry more pokemon with them so the limit of six pokemon in a team was abolished in favour of this system.
Pokemon Centres now come equipped with teaching facilities, where pokemon can be instantly taught new attacks, techniques or abilities. Since the Beta and Alpha Balls now heal a pokemon when it is withdrawn, healing facilities at the Pokemon Centres now gear towards helping trainers, who in the past were more neglected,
Pokemon are now able to use more advanced attacks. For example, while in the past an Electric type could generate attacks like Thunder, it is now possible for them to fill an area with static, or totally electrify themselves, an object or enemy. The same for other types, their skills and abilities are much more impressive. Due to this, Starter pokemon are now given out in two's. Pokemon are also able to temporarily evolve in battle. If they have enough experience, and are filled with adrenaline in battle they can Jump-Evolve for the duration of the battle. This is not possible if they are unable to evolve further.

Battle Examples
Since this RPG has been done before, I saved it and now I can show the examples of old battles, so newcomers have an idea of how it works, without me needing to pad out my posts with detailed explanations.
"Go, Baltoy, Centrifugal Force!" Rich shouted, as a small pokemon appeared, spinning around as it materialised. Everything metal rattled more, then, suddenly stopped.
"What the.. Magnetic Force messes up the magnetics in the entire arena and draws everything towards Nozupasu."
"And Centrifugal Force causes the gravity in the arena to centralise on Baltoy, I guess it cancelled out your attack too. Baltoy, Sandstorm!"
The spinning pokemon whipped up sand from the ground, causing a hurricane of dirt and grit washing across the small space. Nosepass seemed unfazed.
"Nosepass, Rock Tomb!"
As four rocks pierced the ground to surround Baltoy, the small pokemon kept spinning, hitting each of the four rocks and bouncing off them. Rich turned to face the gang, despite his pokemon getting more and more damage as it hit the rocks.
"See guys, in battle, you need strategy, you never know what your opponent is going to do. It's a good idea to keep an eye on your stats too, you can learn a lot from knowing what your pokemon is feeling." Rich pointed to the holographic screen floating beside him. On it, a green bar was gradually turning orange, signifying Baltoy's loss of health. Below it, a red bar was changing size erratically, showing Baltoy's emotional level, the shorter it was the calmer it felt. It was staying at the larger end of the spectrum more and more now. Beneath that, a heart beat pulsed at high speed, while a small empty bar filled with white.
"Baltoy, Foresight." Rich said calmly. Baltoy still spun, the sandstorm still whirled, and Nosepass seemed indignant.
"Nosepass, another Rock Tomb!"
More rocks poked up from the ground, crushing Baltoy and stopping it's spinning. It's anger level rose, and it's HP level dropped to critical. With it's spinning stopped, the sand started to drop back to the ground.
"Your Baltoy doesn't look so good Rich, I thought you'd got better." the boy smiled. Rich smiled back.
"Baltoy, Evo-Jump and Psychic!" he shouted. The rocks around Baltoy shook, then shattered, as Baltoy was enveloped in a white light. In a second, Baltoy was gone, and a fully evolved Claydol stood balancing in it's place. It started to spin, faster and faster, and then, it froze. Th moment it froze, Nosepass disappeared, and a large hole was left where it once stood. Nosepass' HP levels dropped to zero, and the holoscreen disappeared.
"Nosepass?" the boy asked, kneeling down and looking down the hole. Some 8 foot into the ground sat the pokemon, having been slammed straight down by the Psychic attack. The pokemon began to float out, placed gently on the floor, by the Claydol. The pokemon flashed white, but stayed as a Claydol.
"Hey, Claydol, you evolved properly well done!" Rich said "You deserve a rest after that" he recalled the pokemon. "You see guys, when a pokemon is on low health, and is worked up, they can Evo-Jump, it's a short evolutionary jump. Sometimes, it actually kick starts the evolution process and becomes permanent. Don't rely on it though, Evo-Jumps are very powerful, and leave a pokemon tired after performing it."
However, it wasn’t long until Dimitri found a rather different Pokemon. It was rather small, and blue, with large ears and a small horn on the head. She was busy doing something that entailed prodding at the dirt with her horn, though Dimitri was oblivious to what. He slowly pulled out his Pokedex, and learned that this was a female Nidoran - a poison type Pokemon.
“Exzellent. Come out and fight zis Pokemon, Mizdreavus,” Dimitri said, pressing the button on his beta ball. A crimson red light shot out of it, sculpting the form of the phantasmal floating head. “Now.. What zas that attack I read on the Pokedex…? Ah, yez, Black Saber!”
“Dreave..” Misdreavus called darkly. She closed her eyes and began to coax a ripple of black-violet energy around herself. Nidoran’s ears twitched slightly and she looked up from the ground, eyeing the floating head carefully, with a somewhat odd look on her face. The ripples of light gathered into two smoky spheres on either side of the ghost-type Pokemon. Misdreavus than opened her eyes, and the two balls flew forward, flattening in mid air into twin wide blades of smoky force. Nidoran cried out and tried to avoid, but was two late as the two blades came in from both sides, slashing across her flesh and passing each other before phasing out.
“Good work, Misdreavus, but I do not think that zis Pokemon is done yet,” Dimitri said, noticing the Nidoran rather angered by the sudden attack. It retaliated as the horn began to glow, and she launched off what looked to be an exact duplicate of the one on her head. However, the cone-shaped projectile simply passed through the semi-permeable form of Misdreavus. “Must have been a normal attack,” Dimitri muttered. However, his Pokemon being attacked reminded him of his wristwatch. He held it up and pressed the button on it, producing the holographic screen that displayed the information needed. “Psywave.”
Misdreavus then created a ring of shimmering white energy above her and her eyes flashed again. The ring spun off like some sort of chakram in the poison Pokemon’s direction.
This time, Nidoran was able to dodge, and did so by jumping over the projectile. When she landed, she leered angrily at Misdreavus and turned her back to her She then began to kick at the ground with her rear two legs, bits of gritty dirt and sand flying up every which way. The sand soon became some sort of wall, making an opaque barrier between Dimitri and the Nidoran. It obviously did not seem to be a offensive attack. However, when the sand and dirt fell helplessly to the ground, the Nidoran was gone.
Jay kept swooping at the scruffy dog pokemon but it kept ducking or rolling, doing anything it could to avoid being hit. Jay went in to attack once more and this time the poochyena stayed its ground. Baring its teeth it waited until Jay came within range and then thrust itself forward into the attack. Both pokemon went down and lay on the ground, breathing heavily. Poochyena got up first, followed soon after by Jay who immediately took to the air once again but didn't fly as high as before. Jay seemed to be worse in this situation but poochyena wasn't looking the best either.
"Ok Jay, time to take this up a notch! Atmospherical Bombardment!" AJ had both his fists clenched as he was getting down to business.
Jay focused all his energy by closing his eyes and resting on the ground. A sharp wind began to blow quite harshly and with it came awfully dark and very ominous clouds that sat just above the battle. From inside of them came flashes of light, just as if a lightning storm was about to start. Then Jay's eyes flew open and they were glowing a dark red. At the same time a white blast of energy in the form of a beam crashed from the clouds and struck the ground close to where poochyena was standing. After that, all hell broke loose.
Beams of light began striking the ground everywhere, many narrowly missing poochyena. Poochyena started running towards Jay, weaving in and out of the energy beams so not to be hit. One hit the ground just a little to its left but it was close enough to give it a glancing blow, knocking him onto his side several meters away. Undeterred, poochyena kept moving closer and closer to Jay, intent on getting its target. It leaped into the air to hit Jay from above. Jay did nothing but open his eyes wider and then the biggest beam of them all crashed to the ground, hitting poochyena square in the back and pummelling it into the earth. The clouds then started to dissipate and the winds calmed down, signalling the end of the match. Jay was quite weak from the last attack and chirped softly before AJ withdrew him to his Beta ball.
I wont be making a topic in the cafe this time, all details and information will be posted in the RPG itself. This RPG is for mods only, so anybody else reading this, sorry you can't sign up. Anyone who happens to have discovered this topic and is also reading the fic of the same title, I have changed the Gym Leaders, so that the plot of the fic will not be spoiled.
