Giga drain or Leaf blade?

I just hatched a modest 30 defense IV Treecko with dragonbreath and crunch. I'm going to teach it Thunderpunch via move tutor, and I want to take advantage of STAB. What should I use? I know that giga drain heals you (could be helpful in the Battle frontier) and that Leaf blade has a high critical hit ratio (also helpful in Battle frontier). I need some advice. (sorry if there's a thread about this somewhere)

yes let me sub up then seed then OHKO the other pokemon and not even use leech seed

Subseed actually almost guarantees you a win against something difficult. subseed until their HP is low, and Leaf Blade away

I would suggest leaf blade. Like many people have said before me, there are other ways to heal a pokemon in battle besides giga drain. The extra power of Leaf blade would help you take out some of the more powerful foes, and the high critical-hit ratio only sweetens the deal. lol.

Still, Giga drain is a nice move, but Leaf blade sounds a lot better

I say Leaf Blade and Leech Seed. Leech Seed has saved my tail countless times with my Venusaur.

Okay, after reading all of this and obtaining pkrs on my grovyle, I've decided on leafblade. Once I get it to lvl 50, I'll use it in the Battle Frontier. Thanks for the help.

No prob, and if you don't like SubSeeding, there's the option of Endeavor over Leech Seed.

Definitely Leaf Blade. I have Giga Drain on Ludicolo and I definitely would have taken Leaf Blade instead. The amount of HP you gain back isn't as valuable as the damage you do with Leaf Blade.

Leaf Blade no doubt about it stronger they should make the move more common for orthe pokemon to learn
