Hi all

Is there an article or anything where Ryan says anything about wanting Damian to be the male lead next year? I still can't find anything supporting that. shows how inexperienced I am at keeping up with news (N)
I wasn't a huge fan of the Christmas episode, it was kind of lame plot-wise, but I did enjoy the songs.
Ok I just did a marathon of the whole show and I must say I love this show, it's very unique from anything else that's on T.V. right now and reminds me a lot of how high school was for me.
I'm personally pumped for the Michael Jackson episode. Especially the Santana/Sebastian duet! I think it should be interesting to see how Sebastian screws with Klaine.

Ok this episode was actually pretty darn good in my opinion (even if certain characters were portrayed awkwardly....I.E. Sue is apparently one of Emma's close friends? Also Arty jumped in the pool, then somehow magically appeared on a floating chair -_____-)
Song choice was actually pretty amazing. I think I finally enjoyed all songs in an episode.
I will say that Finn's proposal after Emma and Will's was highly predictable, but it still made me say to my TV like a true nerd: "Santana was right, everything has to be about Rachel".
Sue needs some consistency, she saves the Glee club one year, only to wish to destroy it when the school year starts again, I wish she'd pick a side, good or evil and stick to it.
If they want a softer-side to Sue, they can save that for her moments with Becky Johnston.
I don't know what was better.... Tina getting lines, Artie jumping in the pool, Sugar could magically sing or Becky sending Artie nudes.
Also, does this mean Kurt and Rachel didn't make it in NYADA? I was kind of confused, as apparently they were suppose to find out if they made it in or not and in this episode they said they didn't get any letters yet.
Well, I'm honestly baffled as to where the rest of the season is headed... thoughts under the tags:
-The proposal was really beautiful, well written and acted. Jayma Mays is one of the best actresses in the series and she's had too few chances since the first half of season 1 to show it. Remember when she was essentially the second female lead? Also nice to hear her sing again- it's been more than a year since the last time. My only gripe was that they've cheated about Will being immediately infatuated with Emma- they really did seem platonic in those first few episodes and that was the joy of seeing their development. Retconning that into a cheesy love-at-first-sight situation was a bit of a slap in the face to people who were so invested in her story two years ago.
-Sam/Mercedes is just the same boring will-they-won't-they story which will almost certainly end with them together again. Shane continues to be completely uninteresting. I like Sam and Mercedes isn't unbearable all the time (the diva moments earlier in the season made me want the character dead) but there is no creativity in the storyline. The Grease tribute just wasn't enjoyable for me. Grease is an overrated-as-hell movie as it is, and doing the recreation so abruptly at the start of the episode just made me think "this is what people who don't like Glee think Glee is".
-The Artie/Becky thing was nowhere near as creepy as I expected it to be; having Becky (voiced by Helen friggin' Mirren! AWESOME!) be empowered but then closing the story with an inevitable failure was a smart way to approach a very tricky line. Artie calling the club out on their hypocrisy was a prime case of "anvils needing to be dropped".
-I never want to see Emma's parents again. They're horrible characters and there's nothing funny about them, even the dark satirical humour which the show usually does well. They're just badly written.
-Coach Bieste's offscreen elopement was just a little too easy for me, but I can buy Cooter being that impulsive so it wasn't too out-of-character.
-This is how I want Sue to stay from now on: a vitriolic and cynical ally rather than a designated villain with no solid motivation. I feel like she helped Will with his proposal as repayment for him helping her with Jean's funeral, and I don't think she dislikes Emma at all really. She's a bully but she's got a heart and she can be genuinely romantic. She's just jaded and egotistical, not a sociopath.
-Finally, the big one: Finn. Holy hell, I can't believe I'm saying this but they really turned lemons into lemonade with this one. On paper, I wouldn't have thought that retconning his father into a drug addict and having him propose to Rachel would be anything short of ridiculous, but they pulled it off really well. I can only think to credit Romy Rosemont, who plays Carole, for absolutely knocking it out of the park again. She's always incredible, and she kept this one from being a great big turkey. Corey Monteith was at his very best too- they really took this one seriously and it paid off.
-One last note about songs: I can't stand "Summer Nights" because it's the bane of any karaoke night, but they didn't do a bad job. It was just too abruptly forced into the opening. "Wedding Bell Blues" was an unexpected surprise and I really enjoyed it. I HATE "Moves Like Jagger" more than any other pop song in recent memory, and seeing it blended (admittedly very well) with "Jumpin' Jack Flash" was offensive to me but I can let it go because it was a good cover of an abominable song. "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" and "Without You" were stunning, and gave Lea Michele yet another chance to show that there isn't a ballad on the planet that she can't nail. "We Found Love", which I'm not all that wild about as a song, was a great spectacle number and it's one of the many times where they honestly had me wishing I was in the show swimming around belting a tune. It was perfect for the proposal, so I enjoyed the sequence.
So, while I do think "Yes/No" was a mixed bag I'm happy to see the show back on. I don't know whether Glee will sustain my interest past the end of this season, but I'm definitely sticking around til the end of it. The Michael Jackson tribute coming in two weeks... I just hope something relevant happens in it because while I love me some Michael and they've generally been good at doing his songs I can live without an episode with TEN musical numbers in it.

I have to agree with you here. Proposal was excellent. Finn being the Best Man seems a little inappropriate to me, but I never got close with any of my teachers. The only one I ever wanted to get close to had a wife. Moving on...
When we first saw that Emma had a crush on Will, I thought Will was going to remain clueless about it for awhile. I don't know why they played their meeting off as a love-at-first-sight situation either.

Samcedes became a non-issue for me when they just casually added that as the end of Season 2, in a sense making their relationship a non-issue. I don't really care them as a couple. I really didn't care for Mercedes' attitude at the beginning of the season too. I miss her moments with Kurt (damn Blaine!)

I thought that was Helen Mirren. Was she credited? I looked, and I must have missed it. I'm surprised that wasn't leaked anywhere. Hell if we can know about someone like Ricky Martin being cast as a Spanish teacher, couldn't we know about a megastar like Helen Mirren being "Inner Becky?"
When I first saw this was happening, I was worried they'd make Becky go psycho and stalk Artie or something. I felt so bad for Becky at the end of the episode, even though I knew they weren't going to last.
-I never want to see Emma's parents again. They're horrible characters and there's nothing funny about them, even the dark satirical humour which the show usually does well. They're just badly written.
Or maybe they're excellently written for us to despise these people. I agree with you though; I hope we never see them again. After their first appearance, you could just see the pain in Emma (well Jayma's acting) when she started praying.
I feel like this was wasted potential for Bieste. We get an episode about her never being kissed, and then we find out that she's finally into a guy who was obviously (to everyone but her) into her only to have the two of them elope. After the winter break like Emma and Carl no less. Enough with the eloping!

I have to disagree here. I don't like that they made Finn's father into a drug addict and being dishonorably discharged. I realize that our returning soldiers continue to battle demons everyday (PTSD and all), but the guy can't defend himself. He's dead! I hate to get political (believe me I'm the last person to talk about this crap), but is this what the writers think about our soldiers? Why couldn't they just leave well enough alone? Carole (with an e? really?) could have just been scared and upset at the thought of Finn going off to war, and I think the scene could have played out just as well.
My banking background tells me that most, if not all, credit cards require co-signers under age 18. Are we to assume that Finn is 18? Perhaps, he's not the brightest bulb, so perhaps he was held back a grade. If not, did he really convince his mother to co-sign an app? Did she even question his motives for getting a credit card? Did she think this was a good idea?
I can't see this ending well at all, and once again, Rachel will turn out to be the bad guy...even though she'll probably be the voice of reason for once.

Loved "Summer Nights," but that's because I enjoy Grease. I can understand how it's vastly overdone at karaoke (and poorly I'm sure). While I don't know a lot about the other songs played, I'm hoping discussed them in order. It was nice to hear Emma singing again with Sue and Bieste in the background (nice nod to the Royal wedding Sue!). I'm not a fan of "Moves Like Jagger" either. Who originally sings the songs the girls did? I never heard "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" before, but it sounded great (interesting combination of singers too). I have heard "Without You" before, but I can't, for the life of me, remember who originally did that song!
Nice to know Santana is still going to be a b!tch. I really didn't think it was an "all about Rachel" moment...just because she sang a song by herself to Finn. She was merely fulfilling the requirements of the week's assignment.
Speaking of Quinn (below), she had one line tonight, and it was pretty much repeated by Santana later on (or vice versa). What's up with that?
I completely agree with you here. It may depend for me on what happens with those who graduate. It seems Rachel, Kurt, and Finn will be back sporadically; but what about everyone else that's graduating? Who is graduating again? Those three, Mike, Quinn, Santana, Mercedes, Sam, Brittany, Puck? I believe Tina and Artie were confirmed to be juniors, and we all know Blaine is a junior (like we could ever forget!). Will the writers pull something and not have someone graduate (I believe they toyed with the idea of Brittany and/or Puck not graduate)? I believe Sugar is not a senior too. While I like the idea of Tina and Artie taking leads next season, can she sustain the show with the new talent coming in?

I am so excited for this episode, and I was upset to find it was postponed a week. Thanks American Idol! "Smooth Criminal" sung by Santana and Sebastian looks to be quite interesting. I wonder if the full list is out yet...
I may get roasted alive, but I like much of the fandom, feel that Rachel/Finn, and Emma/Will are played out and stale, let's focus on other couples, or better yet, storylines that don't focus on love, sex, or marriage, I miss the Glee of seasons 1, and 2 to a lesser extent.

It was leaked weeks before the episode aired. They revealed she had a guest spot as the voice of a character but no one knew what character until the episode aired.
