God, please tell me I didn't just do this...

Okay, I was just playing Gold and was in the National Park about to battle a trainer when a Sunkern pops up. Now, I don't know what the Pokemon is normally colored, so I just hope I'm wrong. The Pokemon was all green, and I at first tried to put it to sleep and then I attempted to weaken it with a low-level Stantler, but it was taken out. Please tell me that's not the shiny form, as I really wanted to get it.

Did it flash when you saw it? If not it's not a shiny. IIRC Sunkerns in GS are quite darkly coloured for some reason. You might have got lucky (as in, it wasn't a shiny).

The G/S/C shinies are different from their newest sprites, and since it wasn't on the main site, I tried to see if you've ever encountered one and it was shiny. I wasn't looking when it first appeared so I wasn't sure if it was one or not. If I see another one then I'll know, I guess.

Standard (left), Shiny (right)

In GS the standard is green, and the shiny is yellow, so what you saw was just a normal sunkern...

Thank you. I actually just caught one right before you said that, so I realized it wasn't one. I shouldn't overeact like that, I guess. This thread is no longer needed then, so I guess a mod will need to close it.

That's what annoys me about a lot of shineys. Many are too similarly coloured and aren't always obvious. If you're doing quick battling to level a party member up, you often don't pay attention to those kind of things.

That's why I'm always on guard - every battle might be a shiny... :ninja:
