We cannot deny it. Gold/Silver were good games. But it had GameboyColor graphics *shudders*. Lets imagine for a second that Gold/Silver had been on the advance (Or, for the sake of argument, the Ruby/Sapphire on the Color)
Would you have liked Ruby/Sapphire nearly as much as you do? Think about it, two regions(although one was crap  ), awesome Rival, Cool pokemon (Most of the G/S Pokes were a little bit better in my opinion), bug catching contest, etc. Would you have liked R/S nearly as much as you do if Gold/Silver had been on the advance?

R/S is better on the eyes. But there's no doubt about it, Gold/Silver had better gameplay and pokemon. Of course most of the pokemon were crap in means of battling, but they were more creative and fun. The day/night feature totoally takes the cake. The bug catching contest was awesome, aswell as the apricorns. And there was the radio. What was Nintendo smoking when they took all thiss out? The world may never know.
Graphics don't matter. Gameplay does.

Edit: What's wrong with Color graphics? They're not THAT bad.

I totally agree with my friend Hoshi no Kabii, its gameplay that counts, Ruby and Saphire just doesnt have that many things, i really like the contests though, maybe one day nintendo will gather all the good things about all the pokemon games, and make one for the ages...!...

Gold/Silver/Crystal have always been my favourite generation. Ruby and Sapphire were good but until Emerald and the new features came along there was a serious lack of gameplay.

For me, Hoenn wasn't as memorable as Johto was. With 2nd gen I actually felt like I was in the game and made an impact on how the game played out. I don't know what happened with Hoenn. Maybe the novelty wore off...

I think that Gold and Silver were the greatest games that they have yet to come out with. I definitely would not have liked Ruby/Sapphire if Gold/Silver came out on GBA. I have nothing against Ruby or Sapphire, but I think that Gold and Silver beats them by far in my opinion, and would have been absoloutely amazing on GBA. I would also have loved a remake of Gold/Silver.

Unless they fixed each and every mishap in the original GSC, I would've preferred Ruby/Sapphire, as I do now. D:

The ONLY thing I would've liked of a revamped GSC would be spiffied-up Whitney and Goldenrod. Nothing else. =/

And seriously... as long as Johto remains as Kanto's suck-up, my preference stands... :(

RSE was great, but now that I think about it RS had litterely no things to do after you beat the league, except the obvious, complete your Pokedex. GSC was fun, but the new PKMN weren't that good IMO and some were ridiculously rare. The rerun of Kanto in it could have been so much better as well.

I still like GSC better now, so, I definitely would have preferred it over RS.

R/S/E is a hamburger. G/S/C is a steak.
R/S/E is quite nice once in a while and seems godly if you haven't played G/S/C, but R/S/E just pales in comparison to the pieces of heaven that are called Gold, Silver and Crystal.

G/S/C was the only Pokémon game that actually contained the fourth demention. Unlike R/B/Y, R/S/E, Collo or XD, G/S/C was rich with history. Every single town, except for New Bark and Cherrygrove, had its own piece of history and legends. And that is what makes G/S/C so incredibly excellent. And even if that was all, it would be the best Pokémon game ever. But it isn't. G/S/C introduced both halves of SkarmBliss, it introduced Tyranitar, it introduced Lugia, it introduced Wobbuffet. It also introduced the Steel and Dark types. It contained the ultimate battle against the previous protogonist.
G/S/C, was simply the best Pokémon game. Just because the graphics were less than R/S/E, doesn't mean it was worse than R/S/E. Zelda: OoT is often seen as the best video game ever, yet it appeared on the N64 and has graphics that are way worse than the modern graphics. But does that mean OoT is worse than all modern day games? No. So why would that count for Pokémon.
And if I thought graphics were more important than games and gameplay, I would have choosen Playstation or XBox over Nintendo.

I would like G/S more than R/S since R/S dissaponted me...one couldn't catch all one's favourite pokémon anymore (at least not until FR/LG came out...). Sure, they were more new pokémon, but felt alienated when some of the old fellas had left me abandoned. I always use to base my teams on oldies and one or two new pokémon before I take the risk of adding new pokémon in my teams. I mean, there´s always 50% chance that you'll end up with crappy pokémon that way.
Anyways, I would like G/S better on the Advance.

I loved G/S/C as it had a better plot, longer gameplay, and more to do... but if it had better graphics and Hoenn Pokémon it would of been absolutely perfect.

Even know after all this time GSC is still my favorite one, it's so memorable to me. I lost mine a year or two after I got it and I also lost my Blue version before it but I don't miss the blue version I miss my Silver. RSE is an okay game but it's just not the same the better graphics don't change anythiing. If GSC was on the GBA it would pwn RSE so freaking bad and it would have even more featrues than it had before making it even better.
