I did'nt see a thread about this anywhere.

The WB will discontinue its weekday Kids WB programming beginning in January 2006, at the request of its affiliates. The network plans to run programming aimed at young adults during the weekday 3:00pm - 5:00pm time-slot. In conjunction with this change, the Kids WB Saturday schedule will be expanded by one hour and will run from 7:00am - 12:00pm.

Geez and I thought Al Kahn was the worst

Well that sucks though I haven't really been watching. Didn't Fox do that as well?

Clearly we're great!
It has to do with the FCC cracking down on how much advertising time in a week can be spent targeted to kids.

Which is complete bull--kids know the difference between advertising and programming, unlike what the FCC seems to think.

^Agreed.

I don't care either way, though it is an interesting find. *shrugs* I hardly watch KWB! anymore except for new Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh ;/

They're cracking down because they think kids don't know the difference? They know the difference between a cartoon and a commercial. Adults really need to stop underestimating kids.

What does FCC stand for? I think I heard it before but forgot what it was...

It's quiet sad when you look at it from a different direction. Kids will come home toss the stuff and end up watching ER instead of Pokemon or Xialin Show down and etc.

*spits out her lemonade*...Holy poop on a stick!

I'm sorry but there aren't enough words in the freakin' dictionary that can start with how I feel about this crap. And yet, I'm not the least bit surprised! I knew this was going to happen someday. Still sad though! >_>

Federal Communications Commission

I heard about this happening earlier in the year, but I didn't know Saturday's lineup would be extended one hour longer.

This is crazy because they won't be able to show many reruns. So CN's supposed to make up for that? o_O They haven't even begun to show any Yugioh episode since Grand Championship, outside of the premieres.

It's been going on for several years now. Remember when most channels had kids shows on after school? WB is the last one. And remember when Saturday morning cartoons used to go well into the afternoon? Now they taper off around eleven.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Um, Saturday morning KidsWb and FoxKids/FoxBox/4kids TV always ends at noon. I've never heard of them going on into the afternoon.

I'm talking about years ago. Remember, I'm older than the average poster.

Noon? They end around 10:30/11 here...

DigitalKaede

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NO!
Oh yeah, I saw the same news on Wikipedia and Anime News Network:

Kids WB, the block that became the home to anime such as Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cardcaptors, MegaMan NT Warrior , and Astro Boy [2003], will be dropping its weekday block in January 2006. At the same time their Saturday block will expand from four to five hours, running from 7am to noon.

Still doesn't make it any less wrong.

Wild. Well, that's why they give different times for Pacific time zone.

Yeah, where I live it also ends at 12:00. But whatever.

BTW, I remember when this happened to Fox Kids on the weekdays. I remember watching Transformers when the commercial aired... it was surprising and disappointing.

Kind of strange, though. I had been watching KidsWB! on the weekdays up until... maybe a year ago. Good thing I stopped on my own instead of being pushed out.

Why can't they just leave things alone? What will kids watch? (not that I care)

Cartoon Network? Nickelodeon? Honestly, the advertisors don't care because they believe they can make more money letting the local affiliates handle the programming instead of continuing to pay Kids' WB! to do the same.

Yeah, but I remember Toonami going, more recently... at first it was annoying to me, but it's alright now. They replaced it with Miguzi, at least (even though I only use that to watch Yugioh GX, which coulda been on KidsWB anyway).

It's all about money in the end. You can't quite blame them, but you still can't help getting mad anyway.

...but seriously, as if there are gonna be more of these older people watching in place of the kids, anyway! They've already got plenty of Smallville and the rest on the WB. >_>
