Good Friends, Great Training! (868)

I enjoyed Wartortle and Raichu. Tierno is one of my favorite rivals. Watching him openly flirt with Serena was fun. I do hope that in the future Tierno asks Ash whats the deal. Goodra was really strong as expected. I don't want to get too attached for obvious reasons that need to be clarified.

Just watched the episode and I hgave to agree that yeah Goodra was badly drawn in a lot of scenes, the best drawn scenes from Goodra was the battle.

Anyway they certainly made it pretty damn strong, on top of being a tank it was doing some awesome damage, the last battle felt like Tierno was trying to break a wall but he just couldn't, I liked the battle though.

Damn I'm going to miss Goodra :(, it was so cute hugging Satoshi and Pikachu, they keep dropping hints about its homeland and a lot of useless small pokemon not being able to defend themselves, man that one dangerous swamp, evil Ariados, evil Sevipers, evil Florges.

Let's go to the beach, each.
I disagree, both of TR's pokemon couldn't damage it at all, and against Tierno I saw no noticeable signs of damage infliction from Raichu or Wartortle.

Tbh though TR's Pokemon are weak and Tierno's Pokemon were mediocre at best imo, so it's not surprising that Goodra sustained no real damage. [img139]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/d2d9d50b.gif[/img139]

so that means Clemont's helioisk is mediocre too since it got beat by Wartortle as a Squirtle.

problem with the obvious sarcasm is that we could be getting that scenario this time in two episodes...because we know it's going in against Clemont.

Sure, but I don't see how that makes LizardonX's comparison any less nonsensical. When you compare two situations they have to actually be...you know, similar.

I always enjoy seeing Tierno's pokemon doing streetdancing in their fights. What a creative way of battling! I'm also looking forward to seeing Tierno's sixth pokemon. We only saw five, so there's room for Tierno to still grow. I am surprised, however, that Tierno's team were all evolved pokemon. I think this trend will continue with XY where less and less trainers will have unevolved pokemon on their teams.

I'm also surprised at the speed of Goodra's evolution. The only pokemon I can think of that evolved faster under Ash's care is Caterpie. I wonder if the writers have toyed with the idea of bestowing mega evolution upon Goodra.

Can we talk about how Raichu was essentially not a threat to Pikachu? It seemed like Pikachu could definitely take this Raichu 1 vs 1 without having to have some dramatic themed episode.

FYI, Goodra did seem to take damage from Warturtle's skullbash or tacle. You can clearly see Goodra being hurt by that before Wartortle got stuck lol...

Ash definitely had control most of the battle, but a critical moment was when Pikachu deflected Raichu's attack with electro ball. That to me showed that Goodra would have been in trouble.

I think (assuming Ash's current team + one more pokemon) in their league battle will be cool! I sort of see Wartortle/Blastoise taking out Pikachu and Goodra with the potentially future Greninja taking out Blastoise!

Anyway, team rocket was really annoying this episode, but i was happy to see the battle that Ash dominated.

I heard that TR initially thought that the Raichu they caught in the cage was Ash's Pikachu, but after it shocked James, he realized that it was not as strong as Pikachu's Thunderbolt. Is this true?

Too bad it didn't have Volt Tackle...

Yeah, if he has to leave for whatever reason, the writers dont have to hold back on him, and that's a blessing IMO.

I dont think it's a blessing...wow so for one battle ash will have an op pokemon against clemont's op pokemon. Then for the rest of the region and the league ash wont have him and has to get two mor epokemon with that time wasted on a released one.

goodra showing off that special defense was amazing...but I'm not trying to get attached...focus blast raichu is kinda cool I guess...oh and if Tierno is a league rival, please lose to Ash...I still really want Alain to be the one to beat Ash even though it will probably be Shota...

Well, they didn't exactly do direct battle against one another here.

All Pikachu really did here was be a back-up to Goodra and interrupt incoming attacks. And Wartortle/Raichu only really launched attacks on Goodra.

Loved the teamwork between them though.

It's better than doing nothing for four episodes before getting released, that's for sure.

haha I was wondering what they said? I may need to watch the eventual dub to see...

True, but Pikachu proved to be really offensive against their attacks. It was super strategic for Ash to utilize Pikachu the way that he did.

Best part was when Tierno is instantly smitten by Serena's new look. SerenaxTierno. What's the name of that ship again? And God was Jessie scary.

Beyond Evolution
I don't think Goodra is going to be gone in the coming episodes. He is possibly going to be made completely useless against Valerie and Wulfric on their respective gym matches with Ash, and this is probably the leverage the writers have so they gave Ash a fully-evolved form, Dragon-type (not to mention pseudo-legendary) in his team. Not that types have a huge bearing in his gym matches, but it's a possibility that cannot be dismissed.

Or maybe it's just my inner self telling me that Ash needs a freaking OP team once and for all (his Sinnoh League team was pretty darn OP, though).
