Good Starters

I heard you could get a johto(?) starter if you complete the hoenn pokedx in Emerald, and i was wondering which out of Chikorita or Cyndaquil was best?

I think that Chikorita has a broader move pool, but Cyndaquil is more powerful in terms of stats.

It's your choise. What do we care?!

Honestly i prefer cyndiquil. But thats just me. Although cyndaquil takes a really long time to learn flamethrower.. But he can learn just about all the tms. So i wouldent see that as a problem for most people. So yeah your choice..

Did you really need to waste your energy quoting the rules? I mean, does the (not all that random, not entirely useless) smiley really bother you at all? Why on earth am I quoting you, anyway? Don't say you were pointing out a rule to a forum member who might not know it because it's rather obvious (from the size of the font) that you were expressing your aggravation. I don't see why it should bother you so much.

Cyndaquill... is my favourite starter of all. It's:
-a fire type
-easy to train
-a fire type
-learns moves at appropriate levels
-a fire type
-a fire type

Well, my opinion is highly biased because my favourite Pokémon type is... fire. Because of that, you shouldn't take my advice on this subject.

Well, you could decide based on your Hoenn starter, don't choose the pokemon with the same type as your starter, but I still suggest cyndaquil, better stats and easier to raise than chikorita.

personally i'd say cyndaquil basically because of its better stats and the fact that i cant stand grass starters.nehoo... ur decision (go with cyndaquil) lol

But that's only because of type. You can't say one pokémon's better than another just because it has a type advantage over it. We're comparing them, not seeing who can beat who.

As for the question asked, go with whatever you want. All of them are good. If you want a quick, speedy sweeper, go for Cyndaquil. If you want a more defensive pokémon, go for Chikorita. Just if you get Chikorita, be sure to get a female one so you can breed Leech Seed onto it, because it's a really good move for Chikorita to have!

I know...I'm just saying that if their level and stats were mostly the same. Cyndaquil might have an advantage. But out of the the 2 I like Cyndaquil better... But choose witch ever one you like more...

I would go with Cyndaquil. Mostly because he doesn't need a huge movepool. With enough special FlameThrower and Tpunch should hold you down.
