No it's not the pokemon league, 1st of all head to 5 island. Then go to resort gorgous. There should be 4 trainers, 2 of them being "ladies". With the amulet coin you get almost $40000! Just use the VS seeker and keep battling them for loads of cash!

You should probably already have max money by the time you get to Five Island, but yeah that's an effective way still.

I wasted my money on items, and I wanted some money before the elite 4 so I could buy some Full Restores, so I kept fighting the trainers on the road near the hot springs on One Island with the Amulet Coin attached. I got enough money for what I needed, and good experience too.

Along the same lines, a good place for EXP is the Karate Fighter guys by the Spa on One Island. Use the VS Seeker, battle them all, run into spa and recover HP and PP, then come back out and use the VS Seeker again, there's about 100 steps when you go to the spring and back out of the Spa, so it's a pretty ok place for training. Additionally, if you have an Amulet Coin, they give alright money as well.
